"You're amazing," Ruan Fuxi remarked. "Mr. Sheng is just as noble and handsome as I imagined. I wonder how different I look from what you envisioned?"
Just then, Ruan Fuxi noticed Sheng Yanzhou's earlobes had turned slightly red.
She felt a mix of surprise and a hint of expectation. Her husband, her Dao companion, reacted similarly; whenever she flirted with him, his ears would easily flush.
However, Ruan Fuxi was puzzled. She had only spoken a few normal sentences; she hadn't flirted at all. Why did his ears turn red?
Sheng Yanzhou thought to himself, She praises her own beauty and elegance.
Curious, Ruan Fuxi looked at him.
Suppressing his inner delight, Sheng Yanzhou pondered for a moment before saying, "Before we met, I thought Miss Ruan was a reclusive cultivator, untouched by the mundane world."
Ruan Fuxi smiled and asked, "And after we met?"
"After meeting you, I wanted to take you home," Sheng Yanzhou almost blurted out but chose his words carefully instead. "I found Miss Ruan to be exceptionally beautiful; such grace is truly admirable."
Ruan Fuxi looked at him and suddenly smiled.
As he watched her smile, Sheng Yanzhou's ears turned red again.
"Thank you for the compliment, Mr. Sheng."
The polite address felt too formal to Sheng Yanzhou. He looked at Ruan Fuxi and said, "You don't need to be so courteous. Just call me by my name from now on."
Ruan Fuxi readily agreed, "Yanzhou, you can call me by my name too."
Sheng Yanzhou nodded. "I should be a few years older than you; how about calling you Xiao Xi?"
Ruan Fuxi's lips curled into a smile just as a voice came from outside the study.
"Xiaozhou, did you invite guests over today?"
Upon hearing the butler mention that his youngest son had invited a beautiful young lady to their home, Old Master Sheng immediately set aside everything else and rushed over. If his son had finally developed feelings for someone, he would be eternally grateful!
Sheng Yanzhou glanced at his father with a hint of helplessness. "Dad, just come in."
Old Master Sheng pushed open the door and immediately spotted the lovely girl sitting just across the desk from his son. A flicker of admiration crossed his mind. This girl truly looked like a celestial being!
At sixty years old, he was still sprightly and in good health. He regarded Ruan Fuxi with a kind smile.
Sheng Yanzhou introduced her, "Dad, this is Ruan Fuxi from the Ruan family, and she is also my friend." He hesitated for a moment, swallowing the words "my girlfriend."
Old Master Sheng, knowing his son well, sensed the seriousness in his introduction and felt a surge of joy: There’s hope!
He looked at Ruan Fuxi with increasing warmth, as if she were a prospective daughter-in-law. "Miss Ruan, please stay for dinner. My son has never invited a young lady like you to our home before."
Ruan Fuxi blinked her eyes. "Uncle Sheng, you can just call me Fuxi. However, my family is still waiting for me to return home. It wouldn't be convenient for me to stay for dinner. Thank you for your kind invitation."
A hint of regret flashed in Old Master Sheng's eyes. "No worries; you can come again next time. I heard from Butler Jin that you came by today to collect some medicinal herbs."
