Ruan Fuxi still remembered the moment when the leader of the Jiuxiao Sect was so furious that his face twisted in anger. Despite his rage, he couldn't bring himself to expel his beloved disciple from the sect. Instead, he crippled her legs and confined her for a hundred years as punishment. Ultimately, he begrudgingly accepted her as a "demon girl," likely feeling disgusted, and sent her off to a remote beast garden to tend to pigs.
Thinking back on the leader's expression made Ruan Fuxi want to laugh, as if a prized cabbage cultivated for years had been uprooted by a pig.
She lifted her head to the sky, wondering about Sheng Yanzhou at Jiuxiao Sect. Was he still there? Had he been released from confinement? Did he realize she was gone?
If they were never to meet again, Ruan Fuxi hoped he wouldn't be too heartbroken. She wished for him to continue on his path, to remain the proud son of heaven that he was.
Ruan Fuxi asked herself if she missed him. Surely she did. How could she not?
As she stared at the three characters "Sheng Yanzhou" on her phone, she wondered if he might be her soulmate. But then she thought, how could that be? Her Sheng Yanzhou was likely still trapped in the forbidden grounds of Jiuxiao Sect.
With a soft laugh, Ruan Fuxi decided not to dwell on the past any longer. She would cultivate her skills and strive to return to Jiuxiao Sect, to be by his side once more. But if that were not possible, she would continue living her life.
After all, life must go on, right?
Ruan Fuxi had always been good at accepting and adapting, which allowed her to thrive even in the harshest conditions. She pulled her thoughts back together and prepared to gather herbs.
At that moment, the butler approached her.
"Miss, this is your package."
Ruan Fuxi curiously took the document-like item from him and opened it, finding it somewhat familiar. Wasn't this the survival reality show that a man had mentioned to her? She thought she had declined it; why was the program information being delivered to her home?
Ruan Fuxi planned to refuse again—she was busy and had no time for such things.
Just then, Ruan Huai walked in and asked about it.
"Brother, what have you been up to?"
Ruan Huai gestured to the documents in his hand.
"I just resolved the contract termination issue with Xiao Xun and arranged for him to sign with a new company. I also got him a variety show."
"What variety show?"
Ruan Fuxi leaned in for a closer look and was surprised to find it was the same one she had in her hands.
"Brother, to be honest, I received an invitation too."
Ruan Fuxi placed the package she had just received in front of him.
Ruan Huai looked a bit astonished. "This variety show is a big production. Many stars didn’t even get selected, yet the director sent you an invitation. Xiao Xi, you’re amazing!"
After a moment of thought, Ruan Huai added, "But this variety show is about survival on a deserted island. It’s too dangerous for you as a girl; you should decline."
Ruan Fuxi asked, "What about Xiao Xun?"
Ruan Huai replied, "He has already signed and can’t back out now. Besides, he’s tough; he’ll be fine."
Just then, Ruan Xun came down the stairs and overheard this conversation.
"??? Is he really my brother?"
