Ruan Jili's lips twitched at the words.
"Alright, Xiaoxi, I'll tell him right away."
He turned and left, then dialed a number.
"Old Xu, my daughter Xiaoxi said that if you do this next, it will stabilize your family's feng shui."
By the end of his sentence, a dangerous smile crept onto Ruan Jili's face as he spoke confidently, "As for the fee, considering we’re old friends, Xiaoxi says she’ll give you a discount—three hundred thousand."
His tone was serious, though he knew that this old friend was not short on money.
On the other end of the line, Xu Zhengguo's voice was filled with delight. "Great! I’ll transfer the money right away. Old Ruan, give me Xiaoxi’s bank account number. Ah, I really owe it to Xiaoxi this time; otherwise, my old man would have been wronged down there."
He then sincerely praised Ruan Jili, "Old Ruan, you’re really lucky to have such a good daughter like Xiaoxi! With a master like her at home, who would still worry about prosperity and success?"
In the past, Xu Zhengguo wouldn’t have just praised Ruan Fuxi; he had even secretly mocked the Ruan family. He used to laugh at how they ended up with such a foolish and incompetent daughter as Ruan Fuxi.
But now, he wouldn’t dare say such things; no one would even think to say them anymore.
Xu Zhengguo knew that Ruan Fuxi had dealt with the Liu family’s debt collector grandson, which had made her famous in their circle as a master.
Not just him; other old foxes were likely thinking about how to get in good with the Ruan family as well.
Hearing Xu Zhengguo say this, Ruan Jili immediately smiled. For a brief moment, he felt a bit guilty for charging an extra hundred thousand.
But it was only for a moment. His daughter Xiaoxi worked hard too, after all.
Ruan Jili simply enjoyed hearing others praise his daughter.
"Yes, Xiaoxi is such a good child. Look, she even gave us all talismans, saying they can keep us safe. She's just so thoughtful," he said, pride evident in his voice.
Across from him, Xu Zhenguo couldn't help but twitch at the corners of his mouth as he listened to the bragging about his daughter. "Alright, alright, I know you have a wonderful daughter. Isn't that impressive?"
But then he noticed the talismans mentioned and his eyes lit up, quickly shifting to a more sentimental tone. "Old Ruan, we've known each other for so many years. Do you think I could get one of those talismans?"
"They're great! Whether they work or not, it's worth it for the peace of mind," Ruan Jili replied. "Besides, if the Ruan family is using them, there must be some benefit."
Ruan Jili added, "You'll have to ask Xiaoxi about it; she's been quite busy lately."
Xu Zhenguo pressed on, "What has Xiaoxi been busy with? School hasn't started yet, right?"
"That girl just can't sit still; she's too diligent. She’s already gone to work at the company, saying she wants to start from the ground up," Ruan Jili explained.
Xu Zhenguo thought to himself how he had always known Old Ruan was a bit of a daughter slave, but lately, it seemed to have intensified. Despite his internal musings, he continued to praise her. "Xiaoxi really understands things. Unlike my daughter, who just lies around at home during vacation. If I had a daughter like Xiaoxi, I’d be smiling in my dreams."
He then added with a grin, "When Xiaoxi has some time, don’t forget to ask her about those talismans for me."
Only after Ruan Jili agreed did he hang up the phone.
