Ruan Fuxi: "What happened to your nephew?"
Liu Fan's message quickly came through.
"My nephew has been crying non-stop at home, and no matter how I try to comfort him, it doesn't work. Miss Ruan, I'm begging you, please come take a look."
Ruan Fuxi: "Alright, send me the address."
As soon as she arrived at Liu's doorstep, Ruan Fuxi heard the sound of a baby crying. Liu Fan had been waiting outside for her and rushed over as soon as he saw her.
"Finally, you're here!" he exclaimed, leading her inside while explaining, "My nephew was fine earlier, but a few hours ago, he suddenly started crying. We took him to the hospital for a check-up, but they said he was fine. Now he's just been crying ever since."
Upon entering the living room, Ruan Fuxi saw the newborn child. She suddenly furrowed her brow and asked, "Was this child born seven days ago? Was that when he started crying?"
Liu Fan wasn't sure about the exact time. However, Liu Chengye, who was nearby, immediately responded, "That's right, it was exactly then." He remembered clearly since he had been waiting outside the delivery room that day.
Ruan Fuxi sighed. "It seems this spirit has a deep grudge against you. Do you remember who he is? Have you looked into what happened to his family before?"
Liu Chengye grew anxious at her words; he didn't want anything to happen to his grandson. He began to recall, "I was only in my teens back then and working at the factory. Unfortunately, my father had injured his leg at that time, and my wife was pregnant. I had to borrow money from a coworker. Tragically, before I could repay him, he passed away in an accident.
At that time, he was alone at the factory and no family came looking for him. Not long after that, I left the factory and never repaid the debt."
He continued, "I later tried to find out about his family but couldn't get any information and didn't pursue it further."
Ruan Fuxi told him, "Because you never repaid the debt, his resentment lingers on. He’s trying to take over your grandson's body. If he doesn’t leave after seven days, your grandson might be in serious danger."
Liu Chengye immediately became anxious.
"What should I do now?"
Ruan Fuxi glanced at the time.
"Go buy some incense and paper money quickly."
Liu Chengye nervously asked, "Is it too late after I light it?"
Ruan Fuxi replied, "No, I need to hurry back for dinner."
Upon hearing this, Liu Chengye's lips twitched, and his nervousness turned into a bit of exasperation.
"Quickly," Ruan Fuxi urged as the items she needed were soon bought back.
"Light the incense and burn the paper money. Be sincere in your attitude and apologize properly. Your friend has a lot of grievances, so talk to him well. If you can reason with him, that would be best."
Liu Fan instinctively asked, "What if I can't reason with him?"
Ruan Fuxi replied, "Then you hit him."
For some reason, upon hearing her words, Liu Fan immediately stood at attention.
"I won't provoke him," he said nervously.
Meanwhile, Liu Chengye had already lit the incense and was burning the paper money.
"Oh, Old Niu, it was my fault back then. I should have repaid your money sooner. Later, I tried to find your family but couldn't locate them. I admit my mistake; my grandson is innocent."
As Liu Chengye spoke, the paper money in his hands turned to ashes; he was genuinely remorseful.
After he finished speaking, the baby's cries softened a bit. Liu Chengye's face showed a hint of joy, but before long, the cries grew louder again.
He looked helplessly at Ruan Fuxi, unsure of what to do next.
Ruan Fuxi sneered as she looked at the baby—more accurately, at the soul within the baby's body.
"If you're going to be ungrateful after I try to reason with you, then don’t blame me for taking action! The dead shouldn't disturb the living. I'll give you one more chance: you can either accept the incense and paper money and leave on your own or let me beat you up first before sending you off. Choose one."
She wanted to resolve this quickly; after all, she needed to return for dinner. Ruan Fuxi held up Gui Gui in her hand, seemingly ready to strike at any moment.
As she spoke, she pondered in her heart that it was time to find a suitable magical tool, perhaps something like a peach wood sword. Otherwise, if she encountered situations that required her to take action in the future, wielding a turtle to strike would not be the most aesthetically pleasing method of exorcism.
