The day after the banquet, Sun Yuwei's demeanor changed after chatting with Lou Xiao'e in the courtyard. She seemed distracted throughout the meal.

Sun Yuwei looked at Wang Jiefang with worry. She knew how much men valued their reputation, and given the nasty rumors outside, she feared he might think less of her.
Wang Jiefang understood her concerns and gently took her hand, saying softly, "Silly wife, what are you worried about? I know exactly what happened that day. I sacrificed my own eyes to protect your honor; how could those gossiping women overturn that with their words? If I were to disdain you because of their rumors, wouldn't that make me a fool?"
"Wife, you don't need to care about what they say. The more upset you get, the more they will talk. If you ignore them, they'll find it boring and stop."
"Okay, I understand. Honestly, I don't care what they say; I've heard worse when I was at my parents' house! I'm just afraid you'll misunderstand me," Sun Yuwei explained softly.
With the misunderstanding cleared up, Sun Yuwei felt more relaxed and began to eat happily.
However, Wang Jiefang was filled with anger. That day, when a few women in the courtyard spoke ill of Sun Yuwei again, they ended up biting their own tongues. Fueled by his rage, Wang Jiefang acted a bit more forcefully this time; he used his mental power to yank their tongues out while simultaneously helping the speaker close their jaws.
