In the residence of Li Xiang, the medicinal furnace was emitting a thick, warm vapor. At that moment, beads of sweat the size of soybeans appeared on Li Xiang's forehead. Of course, it wasn't because he was refining medicine; rather, it was due to a shadow beside him who was engaged in the process. He was simply too close and felt the heat.
"Almost done," the shadow said, taking a deep breath and nodding. "Inside is the Third-Grade Black Poison Pill. You can crush it into powder and secretly sprinkle it at Chen Anlin's residence. This poison is colorless and odorless; within three breaths, it will take effect, leaving him gasping for air. In less than a stick of incense, he will succumb to its effects."
"At that time, you can wear the attire of the Xiaoyao Sect and impersonate one of their members, framing them for this," the shadow continued.
Hearing this, Li Xiang couldn't help but break into an excited smile. "This is definitely something worthwhile! Thank you, senior. Please go ahead and administer the poison."
"What? Me?" The shadow was startled.
He had previously sensed a powerful soul entity near Chen Anlin. Although the feeling wasn't very strong, he always operated under the principle that caution is key.
"Senior, are you serious? If I go over there, I'll be discovered immediately! But you’re different! As for that powerful soul entity you mentioned—don’t worry about it. I’ll call out Chen Anlin first; then you can sneak in through the back door to poison him, right?"
Li Xiang's cleverness was undeniable.
After considering Li Xiang's suggestion, the shadow reluctantly agreed. "Fine, I'll do it."
Meanwhile, Chen Anlin opened his eyes, his gaze cold and indifferent. Just moments ago, Bai Yu Xianzi had been secretly monitoring Li Xiang. He had already figured out their plan involving that master.
Chen Anlin chuckled softly to himself. "I was just thinking about how to deal with you; I didn't expect you to come looking for trouble first."
Chen Anlin wore a smile that hinted at deeper thoughts, but it quickly faded into indifference. It was time to deal with him once and for all.
Turning his head, he noticed Li Xuexin beside him, resting in the nude. Earlier, she had gone to great lengths to thank him by sending a Red Spirit Flower to her brother. She had been quite attentive to him. It seemed that Li Xuexin was becoming more sensible by the day.
Unfortunately, she genuinely believed that as long as she took good care of him, Chen Anlin would look after her brother. Women, after all, were too naive. He was the villain; how could he possibly care for an ungrateful wretch?
As Chen Anlin pondered this, he glanced toward the door, feeling a stir of anticipation. Had Li Xiang finally arrived?
Knock, knock, knock! A voice came from outside: "Chen Zi, it's me, Li Xiang."
"Oh? What brings you here at this hour?" Chen Anlin asked.
"I want to apologize for what happened earlier today," Li Xiang said, her head lowered.
"I appreciate your apology, but let's leave it for another time," he replied dismissively.
"Chen Zi, to show my sincerity, I've brought you a little something," she said.
"Understood. I'll be right out," Chen Anlin responded.
As he stepped outside, he saw Li Xiang with her head bowed, looking anxious. Her acting skills were commendable.
In her hands was a jade box. She looked down and said, "Chen Zi, this is a type of elixir that can nourish one's essence and spirit."
Chen Anlin did not take it; instead, he scoffed, "Kid, do you think I’m someone who picks up scraps? This elixir is worth a fortune; even if it fell on the ground, I wouldn’t bother picking it up."
What an insult! Wasn’t that implying he was scavenging?
Li Xiang felt her anger boiling inside her, but in order to buy some time, she could only endure it.
He silently calculated in his heart; by now, that master should have successfully poisoned her, right?
"Child, I know this item doesn't catch your eye, but I hope I haven't made you angry. If I have, please don't take it to heart."
"What do you mean?"
Li Xiang instinctively raised his head, anger flashing in his eyes.
This guy actually called him an idiot; how dare he?
Forget it, there’s no need to stoop to the level of a dead man. In Li Xiang's mind, Chen Anlin was no different from a corpse.
"Are you trying to harm me?" Suddenly, Chen Anlin asked.
"What are you talking about? I have no reason to harm you!" Li Xiang immediately denied it, though his gaze began to flicker.
"Let me think... it's the middle of the night, and you used an apology as an excuse to lure me out. Is it possible that while I’m out here, you have something in your room to poison me?"
Li Xiang's face changed dramatically: "No!"
"You still say no?"
Chen Anlin laughed, leaning closer and whispering, "Your sister is currently in my room. If there's poison, what do you think will happen to her?"
"What? My sister is with you?"
Upon hearing this, Li Xiang could no longer remain calm. At the same time, a cry for help came from inside the house.
"I... I can't breathe!"
Li Xiang dashed inside and saw Li Xuexin wearing only a thin nightgown, clutching her throat and looking extremely uncomfortable.
She had been poisoned.
Seeing this scene, Li Xiang cursed under his breath; the master must have overlooked his sister while administering the poison.
But now he could only pretend he knew nothing.
"Chen Anlin, how could you harm my sister?" Li Xiang shouted.
