Hu Ruoyun put on his clothes and went to open the door. Just as he pulled the bolt, the door was forcefully pushed open from the outside.
Five people surged in, two of them in police uniforms, each holding a rubber baton. The three behind them wore badges from Jiangbei Postal and Telecommunications School on their chests, and red armbands that read "Inspection." One of them was General Qi, that pretty boy!
In an instant, Hu Ruoyun understood everything. This bastard! No wonder he had been feeling uneasy; it turned out he had been targeted by him.
He then felt a sense of relief that Mao Na wasn’t staying here.
In this era, even couples needed to present a marriage certificate to stay together. If Mao Na and Hu Ruoyun had been living together and got caught, the consequences would be severe. At best, they would face a fine; at worst, their workplace would be notified... If Mao Na had been here tonight, her reputation would have been severely damaged.
The leader of the group was a stout man who glared at Hu Ruoyun. "I’m from Garden Road Police Station. Show me your ID!"
Meanwhile, General Qi began searching the room with the other two inspectors, checking the bathroom, behind the curtains, and under the bed. While he was negotiating with Hu Ruoyun, General Qi even rummaged through Hu Ruoyun's bag.
Hu Ruoyun remarked, "Brother Qi, what are you looking for in my bag?"
General Qi arrogantly shot back, "Do we know each other well? It's a routine check!"
Hu Ruoyun cursed inwardly; let him dig his own grave.
Hu Ruoyun knew why they were here. Since there was nothing they wanted to see in his place, he felt no fear. He noticed that two of the officers had "FJ" printed before their badge numbers and became even more certain. "Let me see your police identification!"
The stout man hesitated for a moment and pointed to his left chest badge. "Do you understand? This is my badge number; it’s equivalent to my police ID."
Unmoved, Hu Ruoyun replied, "But you’re an auxiliary officer. Can you operate independently? Who sent you out?"
The stout man was left speechless.
Seeing sweat bead on the stout man's forehead, Hu Ruoyun casually added, "I’ll remember your badge number. Tomorrow I’ll call the Inspector! By the way, I need to request a look at your station's dispatch records."
The stout man was dumbfounded!
How does this kid know everything?
Who said he was just a newcomer in town? He’s the real fool!
The most crucial part was that none of them found anything!
The head of the guesthouse was from Jiangbei Postal and Telecommunications School’s logistics department and could be considered half an official. He stepped in to mediate: "It’s all a misunderstanding... These two were invited by the school’s inspection team to assist with work. You know how unruly students can be nowadays; if you don’t manage them, they’ll do anything..."
Hu Ruoyun did not hesitate to retort: "Misunderstanding? Am I a student at your school? I showed my ID when I registered; you can’t possibly not know that! What right does your school’s inspection team have to interrogate and search ordinary guests? Who gave you that authority? Is this guesthouse part of Jiangbei Postal and Telecommunications School or a black shop?"
The head of the guesthouse was at a loss for words.
These people had arrived with great arrogance, but now they left dejectedly, wiping the sweat from their brows.
The more Hu Ruoyun thought about it, the angrier he became. This general Qi was utterly infuriating; if Mao Na had been living here, everything would have been ruined.
This bastard needed to be dealt with!
Unable to contain his frustration, he shouted at the retreating figures, "This isn't over!"
