Chun Yuejing arrived at the headquarters of Xing Yue and was astonished to see the high-ranking officials, whom she could only admire from afar, treating Huo Chanyi with such deference. Her mouth fell open in disbelief.
Could she imagine that the seemingly delicate Underworld Boss was actually a wealthy tycoon? Well, it wasn’t that hard to imagine; it was just something she didn’t want to believe.
Huo Chanyi walked into the office and sat down, looking up at the astonished Chun Yuejing. “What’s wrong? Don’t you believe it?”
Chun Yuejing shook her head. She believed it now; it was just that she seemed to have forgotten something very important.
“Um, um…”
Huo Chanyi asked again, “Are you really going to leave?”
At his question, Chun Yuejing suddenly remembered. Her eyes sparkled with hope as she said, “Um, does what you said still count...?”
Xing Yue was a place that many entertainment reporters dreamed of; if she could stay, it would be quite an honor!
Huo Chanyi teased her deliberately, “What did I say?”
Hey, as the boss, he shouldn’t be toying with his subordinates like this! Chun Yuejing mustered her courage and said, “You… you ruined my reputation; you have to compensate me!” So let her stay at Xing Yue! After all she had been through, asking for some compensation was only fair!
“But what if I’d rather compensate you in another way?” Huo Chanyi replied with a smirk.
Cough… Chun Yuejing choked on her own saliva as images of Huo Chanyi’s sexy and charming figure flashed through her mind. Her head felt hot, and her cheeks burned like fire. She couldn’t even dare to look him in the eye. What did he mean by that?!
Huo Chanyi grinned mischievously. “If you’re willing to seduce me first, I might be persuaded to agree.”
Chun Yuejing glared at him furiously. How could he be so untrustworthy? boss Huo, if you don’t agree soon, you’ll end up as a big fat man!
Chun Yuejing had strong principles; she would never stoop to such vulgarity as seducing him.
She decided to stay on, moving around Huo Chanyi every day in an attempt to remind him of his despicable actions and his wickedness, hoping to make him feel guilty!
After her persistent and relentless efforts, Chun Yuejing finally stood in front of the Xing Yue building two weeks later!
However, how could the Underworld Boss let her off so easily?
Originally, she had heard that the boss was someone who leisurely waited to collect money, but for some reason, ever since she joined the company, he appeared at the office every day. Sometimes, when Chun Yuejing overslept in the morning, he would even forcibly drag her along for a ride…
This was the headquarters of an entertainment magazine, where scandalous news flew around like confetti. Chun Yuejing, who had initially hoped to quietly work behind the scenes as a minor character, suddenly became the center of attention in the company.
That feeling of being in the spotlight was completely unsuitable for someone as unassuming as her!
So, after receiving her first paycheck, Chun Yuejing secretly slipped out of the Yan Gang headquarters with her suitcase. The kindness they had shown by taking her in and giving her a job was already more than enough; if she continued to pester them, it would be too inconsiderate!
After placing her belongings in her newly rented apartment, the first thing Chun Yuejing did was head to her former magazine office. Although the pay there wasn’t great, overtime was a common occurrence. When she walked in, most of the employees were already there, and they were all stunned to see her: “Yue Jing, what are you doing here?”
Chun Yuejing smiled sheepishly and asked, “Where’s the boss?”
She certainly couldn’t admit that she was there to show off! After all, they had dismissed her without recognizing her worth. And yes, she still needed to teach that shameless Little Boss a lesson.
To her surprise, the boss wasn’t there. Chun Yuejing waited idly in the reception room.
After finishing a cup of coffee, the door opened, and in walked the lecherous Little Boss. As soon as he saw her, he struck a pose and winked at her, saying, “Yue Jing, you finally came to your senses and decided to come back to me?”
Chun Yuejing suppressed the urge to kick him where it hurt: Where was the boss? Her enthusiasm for showing off was quickly fading.
“I’m waiting for the boss.” Why wasn’t he here yet?
“Is that so? What a pity.”
The Little Boss exaggeratedly sighed. “If you decide to come back and be my woman, I’ll welcome you anytime.”
Chun Yuejing was at a loss for words when faced with such a person; he was too self-absorbed, leaving her both amused and exasperated.
Little Boss thought she was deeply moved and was about to continue his persuasion when a cold, piercing male voice interrupted from behind, “How dare you covet my woman?”
Chun Yuejing choked on her coffee, her eyes widening in disbelief as she looked over Little Boss's head and caught sight of an enraged face.
Instinctively, she wanted to flee, only to realize that Huo Chanyi had already positioned himself at the doorway!
“You, you, you…” How did you get here? She stammered, unable to articulate her thoughts under his fierce gaze.
Huo Chanyi raised an eyebrow. “You left this note just to meet with an old flame?”
He fixed his gaze on her slender neck, feeling an overwhelming urge to strangle her.
This morning, he had woken up to find a note taped to the door: "Thank you for your care, Boss. I won’t disturb you anymore."
Was it really that simple?
Not wanting to disturb him? He would be the judge of that!
“I wouldn’t be so blind!” Chun Yuejing retorted with disgust. She glanced at Huo Chanyi’s ashen face and suddenly realized what he had just said. “Um, I’m not your woman…”
