Wang Lei's hands remained calmly placed on the table, a confident yet cold smile gracing his face. On the surface, he appeared unguarded, but deep within his eyes flickered a hint of chilling malice. Li Mu's gun was steadily aimed at the back of his head, his gaze as icy as steel, his body tense and ready to pull the trigger at any moment. Yet, in that instant, a flicker of hesitation stirred within him. 0

Wang Lei's position within the Serpent Bite Gang was formidable, not merely due to his strength and ruthless methods but also because of the intricate web of influence he had woven within the gang. This man had long ruled over the Blood Blade Sect, establishing a solid foundation of power within the organization. Every action he took affected the interests of the entire Serpent Bite Gang. Wang Lei's presence was like a malignant tumor embedded deep within the gang's structure, yet he also held tight control over the loyalty of these fervent and violent members of the Blood Blade Sect. Should Wang Lei be killed, the Blood Blade Sect would undoubtedly fall into disarray, potentially igniting fierce internal conflicts and factional splits. This uncertain outcome made Li Mu wary. 0

He coldly observed the back of Wang Lei's head, his gun steady but his resolve wavering slightly. He quickly weighed the pros and cons in his mind, contemplating whether it might be wiser to spare Wang Lei's life temporarily to keep this infiltration mission more discreet and secure. Any impulsive decision could cause the mission to spiral out of control, possibly ensnaring him in an inescapable predicament. 0

As Li Mu wrestled with his thoughts, Wang Lei silently pressed an inconspicuous switch on the table. With a soft click, a hidden compartment opened up on the surface, revealing a small gap that slid open without a sound. Wang Lei's fingers slipped into the compartment, brushing against cold metal—an altered double-barreled shotgun. This weapon had been specifically prepared by Wang Lei for close-range defense; its chamber was loaded and ready to deliver a lethal blow. The shotgun was short and lightweight, perfectly designed for such a confined space, allowing him to respond swiftly in any unexpected situation. 0

Wang Lei's fingers tightened around the grip of the gun as he savored its cold metallic feel with satisfaction. He knew that with just a slight turn, he could hit his opponent at close range and make this assassin taste death on his own turf. Li Mu might be a seasoned killer, but in this cramped room, the destructive power of the shotgun at close quarters could leave anyone helpless. One shot was all it would take to change everything. 0

Both men held their breath; the air in the room seemed to freeze as tension hung like a cold wind in that narrow space, an invisible pressure enveloping every inch of air. Li Mu furrowed his brow slightly, sensing an unusual atmosphere as he kept a vigilant eye on Wang Lei's shoulder, aware that his opponent might be preparing to counterattack. In that moment of heightened tension, Li Mu quickly made a judgment—if Wang Lei were to strike now, he would not hesitate to pull the trigger without second thoughts. 0

However, Wang Lei was also calculating the best moment to retaliate. He gripped the shotgun tightly, waiting for Li Mu to show any sign of hesitation or distraction before swiftly drawing it for an attack. In this brief standoff, both men were strategizing against each other, neither daring to make a move. 0

At that moment, Li Mu weighed not only his own escape plan but also considered the value of this prey. He understood that any minor mistake could plunge him into unpredictable danger, and this psychological duel was edging closer to its final decision. 0

In that intensely charged moment, Wang Lei suddenly decided to strike first. His right hand shot out from the hidden compartment with the short-barreled shotgun while his body tilted rightward; he fell sideways as his arm swiftly rotated backward, aiming fiercely at Li Mu. The speed of his movement left behind an almost ghostly trace. 0

Li Mu caught sight of Wang Lei’s action from the corner of his eye; instinct kicked in as he reacted almost reflexively by diving to the right. The next second, the deafening roar of the shotgun erupted in the confined room like an explosion from a small bomb. 0

Bang! 0

The entire doorway shattered under the force of the shotgun blast, wood splintering and debris flying everywhere; bullet marks peppered the walls while deep dents marred the steel doorframe. Sparks from the blast rose like smoke in the air. Outside, two guards stationed at the entrance heard the deafening noise but had no time to react before being struck by pellets from the shotgun. They cried out in pain as they clutched their wounded shoulders and chests, stumbling backward in panic before collapsing onto the ground. 0

Li Mu lay on the ground, his face pressed against the cold floor, his heart racing as he silently celebrated his timely evasion that had spared him from harm. But he quickly realized that the thunderous sound of the gunshot had completely exposed his whereabouts; it was nearly impossible for the gang members throughout the factory to overlook it. The blast of the shotgun not only awakened all the guards inside the building but also jolted Li Mu from the shadows into the light, countless pairs of eyes soon converging on this small room. 0

Wang Lei rolled over and stood up, seething with rage, his face twisted in a snarl as he glared at the chaotic scene in the room. He shouted hoarsely, "Get in here! Everyone, get in here and kill this bastard!" His voice echoed through the room, filled with intense murderous intent and contempt, as if he had already pronounced Li Mu's death sentence. 0

Outside, two guards, still shaken, heard Wang Lei's command and immediately struggled to their feet. Fumbling for their weapons, they shouted towards the room while calling out loudly to other rooms for reinforcements. The gang members downstairs quickly reacted as well, grabbing guns, knives, and clubs, their noisy footsteps rapidly converging towards the second floor. 0

Li Mu, still lying on the ground, sensed the imminent danger closing in on him. His gaze turned steely as he calculated his escape plan at lightning speed. He knew that within mere seconds, this place would be swarming with enemies, and his only option was to find a glimmer of hope amidst the chaos. 0
