The next morning, as Li Xue arrived at the company building, she was stopped by Liu Wen. He was surrounded by roses, balloons, and little notes. Holding a bouquet of fresh flowers, he stood amidst the floral display and walked over to Li Xue with a smile.
Li Xue frowned slightly. "What do you want this time?"
Liu Wen stepped in front of her and looked into her eyes. "Xiaoxue, don’t you understand my feelings for you?"
Li Xue replied, "I understand, but I have no feelings for you. I've told you that already."
Liu Wen gazed at her earnestly. "Xiaoxue, is it really impossible for us?"
She shook her head. "It's impossible."
Liu Wen continued to look at her with desperation. "Xiaoxue, I love you. I truly love you."
Li Xue met his gaze firmly. "But I don’t love you."
He pleaded, "Xiaoxue, can’t you give me a chance?"
Li Xue responded sharply, "Do you not understand? I have no feelings for you. Why do you insist on pursuing this?"
"But I love you!" Liu Wen insisted.
"I don’t need your love," she replied coldly.
"But—"
Li Xue interrupted him. "Enough, just stop."
Liu Wen looked at her with a mix of frustration and sadness. "Xiaoxue, I—"
At that moment, Gu Jingchen approached, wrapping his arm around Li Xue's shoulders as he faced Liu Wen. "Didn’t you hear? She said no."
Liu Wen turned to Gu Jingchen, surprised. "What are you doing here?"
Gu Jingchen shot him a challenging look. "I came to find my girlfriend. Do I need to report that to you?"
"What did you say?" Liu Wen asked incredulously.
Gu Jingchen looked at him and said, "I told you, I am Li Xue's boyfriend."
Liu Wen turned to Li Xue, "Xue, you..."
Li Xue met Liu Wen's gaze and replied, "Liu Wen, just go."
Liu Wen continued to look at her, "Xue, I..."
Gu Jingchen interjected, "Did you hear that? She told you to leave."
Liu Wen persisted, "Xue, I..."
Gu Jingchen's tone grew firmer, "If you don't leave now, I'll call the police."
Liu Wen looked back at Li Xue, "Xue, I..."
Li Xue repeated, "Just go."
Liu Wen's expression was pained as he said, "Xue, I..."
Gu Jingchen warned him again, "If you don't leave, I really will call the police."
Liu Wen looked at Li Xue one last time and said, "Xue, I..."
Finally, Liu Wen left.
He felt heartbroken. He never expected that things would come to this point with Li Xue. He truly hadn’t seen it coming.
He drove furiously to the seaside, staring out at the ocean as he shouted, “Why? Why?”
Meanwhile, Li Xue and Gu Jingchen returned to the villa.
Li Xue sat on the sofa, staring blankly at the bouquet on the coffee table.
After finishing his shower, Gu Jingchen came downstairs and noticed her lost in thought. His eyes flickered with concern.
He approached her and asked gently, “What’s wrong?”
Li Xue snapped back to reality and shook her head. “I’m fine.”
Gu Jingchen looked at her, "Why aren't you saying anything?"
Li Xue gazed back at him, "I..."
Gu Jingchen continued to stare at her, "What’s wrong with you?"
Li Xue met his gaze, "Why are you doing this?"
Gu Jingchen frowned, "What do you mean?"
Li Xue pressed on, "Why are you doing this?"
Gu Jingchen's confusion deepened, "What are you talking about?"
Li Xue repeated, "Why are you doing this?"
Gu Jingchen searched her eyes, "Are you referring to...?"
Li Xue insisted, "Why are you doing this?"
Gu Jingchen hesitated, "I..."
