Sang Qingxiao blinked innocently. "Yan Min? I think I've heard of him, the one who was paraded around during the disaster? I only caught a glimpse from afar, and I didn't see him clearly. What's wrong with him? What does it have to do with me?"
Qi Xiaomian lightly tapped Little Girl's forehead. "Still pretending with me? He openly admitted that he envies the romance between you and me. He and she can only be a pair of star-crossed lovers in secret."

"That's pretty much the gist of it."
"That's way off! Yan Min wouldn't shamelessly say such things like you do."
"Oh, you know him well enough to know what he would say."
"Yes, we are quite familiar. However, I can't just divulge his personal matters to you. But why did he suddenly lay everything out for you?"
"He wants to form an alliance with me regarding the Sang Family matter. Our previous collaboration went smoothly, and I believe this alliance is necessary."
"We both operate in the official realm and are involved in the criminal justice system; communicating this way is less conspicuous than your secretive contacts."
Sang Qingxiao nodded. That made sense. Since he brought it up first, there was no need for her to hold back.
The head of the Bai Family is Sang Yuzhu's twin sister, Sang Yuzhen, who happens to be Yan Min's beloved.
"So you two are swapping places?"
Sang Qingxiao lowered her head slightly, tracing her fingers along the rim of her cup without speaking.
"Ah, I see. This is related to Sang Bai Jue, isn't it?"
Sang Qingxiao replied that it was merely speculation without any solid evidence.
"Do you mind if I investigate a bit?"
"You can only use your own resources."
"Alright."
Qi Xiaomian continued, "What about Sang Yuzhu?"
"She was imprisoned in the Bai Family's dungeon. After Yan Min arrived in the capital and felt it was unsafe, he secretly moved her away. I don't know where she is hidden now."
"What about their situation? Are they being held against their will?"
"Sang Yuzhen is deeply entangled in this mess, and Yan Min has been trying to find ways to rescue her."
"So you're saying Yan Min is free?"
Sang Qingxiao looked eagerly at Qi Xiaomian and said, "Why don't you check as well?"
Qi Xiaomian chuckled, "Aren't you quite capable yourself?"
Sang Qingxiao replied honestly, "To be frank, my helpers are just Old Vine and a bunch of Little Demons. Old Vine is indeed skilled at investigating, but the Sang Family's affairs are extensive, and he can barely keep up. The Little Demons are numerous, but they aren't very adept; they often miss the point and communication can be a hassle. Sometimes, I end up laughing at myself while trying to explain things."
Qi Xiaomian suggested, "Your subordinates are professionals, and they're all unfamiliar faces. If you catch them off guard, you might get unexpected results. Just lend a hand."
Qi Xiaomian didn't agree immediately but asked, "What about you? Are you free?"
