Yunyi Eating mushroom soup, feeling uneasy for no reason, and getting scalded when lost in thought.
He Chun Feeling more obvious, he put down the bowl and slowly stood up.
Yunyi Looking up at him: "What's wrong?"
He Chun looked pale and said, "Someone is coming, a lot of people."
It was the village head who brought the people over.
He Chun stood on the high treetops with Yunyi, looking down at the group of people searching everywhere with great momentum. The dimly lit flowers and grass were casually crushed, and sparks fell from the torches they held. The entire mountain seemed to be separated by a transparent barrier, as the sparks were extinguished in mid-air before touching the forest vegetation.
He Chun looked at the people below as if chasing a fugitive, shouting and searching for Yunyi, his face growing increasingly grim.
Village Chief: "Tonight, we must find Yunyi, we cannot let her realize and escape, otherwise everyone in the village may be blamed by the military officer."
He Chun noticed that the village chief was the one in charge. He saw the crowd becoming increasingly agitated by his speech and searching more vigorously in the forest.
Yunyi noticed He Chun extending his index finger and sliding it through the air. A seemingly inconspicuous spark, under his control, silently landed on the village chief's clothes and then ignited.
The crowd regathered, frantically helping to put out the fire on the village chief's body. The evening search ended with the village chief suffering minor burns.
Yang Yushu died, and his body was thrown out of the village. Yunyi quietly buried him.
Mother stayed at the village chief's house, Yunyi avoided people and went to see her, asking her to leave with her. Mother shook off her hand, reproaching her for sheltering a deserter, and what if it really caused trouble to others. Overnight, Yunyi's life turned upside down, and at this moment she had a premonition that her mother really was going to leave her.
After my mother's health improved, she spent her days in front of the mirror doing her makeup. The household chores such as chopping wood, fetching water, and cooking were still solely handled by Yunyi, so she never noticed that there was someone hiding in the storage room at home. Yunyi also didn't confess this to her mother, as telling her would only add more variables and increase the risk.
Mother's attitude was indifferent: "If you want to leave, go ahead. I want to stay here. Where can you go? Explain it to the village chief. He said he still wants to marry you."
Yunyi had nothing to say. It's fine for mother to stay here. It would be even more dangerous to leave together. Staying in the familiar village, she knows the rules here and how to have a better life.
She asked one last question: "Will they give you a hard time?"
"No, they won't."
Yunyi The last thing she saw was her mother's graceful and beautiful figure. Just like when she came, she quietly left.
Yunyi grew up here since she was young and doesn't know the way to the capital, but it doesn't matter, she has already figured out how to get there. The caravan that left a few days ago should be in the neighboring village at the moment. She learned from chatting with the people in the caravan that their destination is the capital. She can follow the caravan and blend in with the crowd for safety.
Yunyi did not say goodbye to anyone, including He Chun. She just held the thin but heavy letter tightly in her arms, pausing briefly as she passed by the burial mound of Yang Yushu. Then, just like when she first entered the forest to seek the divine, she resolutely took another step forward.
Before leaving the village, she turned back for one last look. The winding path leading into the village stretched out before her. This used to be the road home, but now it had become her escape route. From now on, she had no home, and she would never easily walk back on this road again.
