Faced with the frenzied attacks of the stone Beast, the group managed to hold their ground for the moment, but the crisis still loomed large.
Inside the ancient tomb of Daxing'anling, it felt as if the apocalypse had arrived, with a chilling and terrifying aura permeating every corner.
The surrounding phosphorescence flickered and swayed, seemingly disturbed by the fierce battle. The mysterious runes on the walls of the tomb glowed with an eerie green light, as if issuing a silent warning.
The stone Beast swung its massive claws relentlessly, each strike stirring up a gust of foul wind that carried the stench of decay and death. Its tail lashed out like a steel whip, smashing into the walls of the tomb and leaving deep craters in its wake, sending debris flying and dust swirling.
Zhang Qi, Lao Hu, and others coordinated with members of Wang Batian's gang. Some feigned attacks to draw the stone Beast's attention while others sought to uncover its true weaknesses.
However, the stone Beast's tough hide made it resistant to ordinary attacks, and the old man in black robes continued to cast dark spells from the sidelines, constantly enhancing the beast's strength and making it even more ferocious.
"This beast is too tough; our attacks feel like mere tickles!" Zhao Si, one of Wang Batian's subordinates, complained while wielding his long knife.
His face was filled with terror and helplessness as sweat dripped continuously from his forehead, his eyes betraying a hint of despair. The long knife felt heavy in his hands; each swing was laborious, and his legs trembled slightly as if they might give way at any moment.
"Don't lose heart! Keep attacking; we'll find its weakness!" Lao Hu shouted. His voice was strong and resolute, providing a glimmer of encouragement to everyone. Like a cheetah, Lao Hu darted between the gaps in the stone Beast's attacks, trying to locate any vulnerabilities in its defense.
He rolled and leaped at times, his dagger slicing through the air with a cold glint.
His gaze was sharp and focused, constantly monitoring every move of the stone Beast. His clothes were already soaked with sweat, clinging tightly to his back, but he remained oblivious to it all. His only thought was to find the stone Beast's weakness and ensure everyone's safety.
Zhang Qi was also deep in thought about how to respond, his brow furrowed and his eyes intent.
"Everyone, pay attention to its attack rhythm. Let's work together and make it reveal a flaw," Zhang Qi shouted to the group.
He gripped his shovel tightly, his arm muscles tensed and veins bulging, ready to strike at any moment. Sweat beads formed on his forehead, sliding down his cheeks and dripping onto the dusty ground, splattering tiny clouds of dirt.
At that moment, the stone Beast suddenly turned and lunged toward A Ling's direction. A Ling was fully focused on casting spells to disrupt the old man in the black robe, unaware of the stone Beast's movement.
"A Ling, watch out!" Professor Li shouted in panic.
Just as the stone Beast's claws were about to reach A Ling, Lao Hu dashed forward, using his body to shield A Ling from the attack.
Lao Hu was sent flying by the stone Beast's immense power, crashing heavily against the wall of the tomb passage. With a "poof," he spat out a mouthful of blood.
His body slid down the wall, leaving a long streak of blood behind, but his gaze remained resolute as he stared at the stone Beast, as if to say, "You won't harm my friend."
"Lao Hu!" Zhang Qi yelled in anger. Without hesitation, he charged toward the stone Beast, raising his shovel high and bringing it down forcefully toward its head.
The stone Beast blocked with its claws, and the shovel clashed against them with a piercing metallic screech.
Zhang Qi felt a jolt through his arm, pain shooting through him, but he did not back down. He bit down hard on his lower lip, drawing blood as his rage made him forget the pain; all he wanted was revenge for Lao Hu.
Qian Wu, another subordinate of Wang Batian, felt a surge of admiration for Lao Hu's bravery in saving A Ling.
Grinding his teeth, he turned to his companions and said, "We can't be cowards either. Let's go!" With that, he swung his Wolf Tooth Club and charged at the stone Beast.
His footsteps were heavy, but his eyes shone with determination. He raised the Wolf Tooth Club high and swung it down towards the stone Beast's leg. The stone Beast howled in pain and kicked Qian Wu away.
Qian Wu crashed heavily to the ground, losing grip on the Wolf Tooth Club, but he quickly got back up, retrieved the club, and charged at the stone Beast once more.
In this life-and-death moment, everyone gradually set aside their grievances and united to confront this formidable evil force for survival.
Yet, the ferocity of the stone Beast and the strange spells of the old man in the black robe kept them in a precarious situation; each attack felt like a dance on the edge of death.
Zhang Qi dodged the stone Beast's attacks while observing its behavior.
He noticed that before launching an attack, the stone Beast's eyes would flicker slightly, as if gathering power.
"Everyone pay attention! The stone Beast's eyes flash before it attacks; we need to dodge early!" Zhang Qi shouted.
Upon hearing this, everyone focused on the stone Beast's eyes. When it prepared for its next attack, they successfully dodged in advance, reducing casualties.
However, the old man in the black robe began chanting a new incantation. The evil aura surrounding the stone Beast intensified, and its attacks became even more frenzied. The pressure on everyone suddenly increased as this life-and-death struggle entered a more difficult phase.
