The faces of the crowd turned pale as they glared at Chen Li. Yet, Chen Li remained unfazed, continuing to speak calmly, "I won't be going to the King of Hell, so you all can report there first."
The expressions of the crowd grew even darker. At that moment, after slapping themselves, they truly understood how much it hurt. They recalled how they had mocked Chen Li before, and now that ridicule had come back to haunt them.
"Did you do something behind the scenes?" Clever Disciple suddenly realized. Just moments ago, Xuan Gang Dragon Python had seemed ready to swallow Chen Li whole. If no one had been scheming in the shadows, the beast wouldn't have gone berserk and attacked them for no reason.
Chen Li did not deny it. "Weren't you all clever enough? So what if it was me?"
The others were even more terrified upon hearing this. "How did you do it?"
Chen Li smiled and patted the hedgehog that was approaching him with a threatening demeanor. His voice was laced with coldness. "Alright, little guy, you can send them on their way now."
The hedgehog lazily yawned. "Ten pills for this, don't forget."
"I know, you won't be shortchanged," Chen Li replied helplessly. This creature never missed an opportunity to haggle.
Satisfied with Chen Li's assurance, the hedgehog nodded and a flash of red light appeared in its eyes as it commanded Xuan Gang Dragon Python to attack once more.
The massive python opened its gaping maw and let out a deafening roar as it lunged toward the remaining Holy Spirit Palace Disciples. The highest cultivation level among these disciples was only at Innate Realm Nine; they were no match for the Xuan Gang Python.
In just a short while, screams and wails echoed through the valley, resembling a hellish scene on earth.
Chen Li watched this unfold without a trace of pity in his heart. He remembered clearly how these people had treated him before. In this world, debts must eventually be repaid.
After dealing with the Holy Spirit Palace Disciples, Chen Li approached Xuan Gang Dragon Python and gently patted its enormous head. "You've worked hard."
The python let out a low growl, seemingly responding to Chen Li's words.
The hedgehog jumped out of Chen Li's arms and landed atop Xuan Gang Dragon Python's head, puffing up proudly as it said, "Good job, little long worm! Keep up the good work next time."
The Xuan Gang Dragon Python gently nudged the hedgehog with its massive head, appearing quite docile.
Chen Li watched the interaction between the small and large beasts, unable to suppress a chuckle. This hedgehog really thought of itself as the boss.
"Alright, let's hurry up and go," Chen Li urged, realizing they had wandered into a more secluded area and had attracted the attention of the disciples from the Holy Spirit Palace.
Fortunately, the hedgehog was doing a good job; for now, no one else was approaching, but they couldn't stay here for too long. Otherwise, it would lead to more trouble. He hoped this lesson would make those from the Holy Spirit Palace think twice before acting so recklessly.
With that thought in mind, Chen Li dashed toward Mo in the distance. The sudden appearance of the Xuan Gang Python had clearly frightened the old man quite a bit.
As Chen Li approached Mo, he noticed the old man's face was pale and his legs were trembling slightly, clearly shaken by the encounter. "Mo, are you alright?" Chen Li asked with concern, handing him a gourd of wine to help calm his nerves.
Mo took the gourd and gulped down several large swigs before finally regaining his composure. He let out a long sigh of relief. "That was close! I almost lost my life here! Thanks to you for stepping in, young friend; I will never forget this great kindness!"
Chen Li waved his hand dismissively. "Mo, you're being too polite; it was just a small effort on my part. But those people from the Holy Spirit Palace are indeed ruthless."
Mo nodded in agreement, a flicker of fear crossing his eyes. "Yes, these brats are becoming increasingly outrageous! It's my first time seeing such arrogance from them!" He spat angrily. In his day, the Holy Spirit Palace was renowned for its dedication to the welfare of all beings and was considered one of the foremost prestigious sects. Who would have thought they would fall so low?
Chen Li nodded in understanding. Although he wasn't very familiar with everything in this world, he had heard quite a bit about the Holy Spirit Palace. Their current behavior was completely different from what he had heard in stories; these people had lost all sense of decency.
After pondering for a moment, he said seriously, "Mo, we should have gathered most of those Spiritual Herbs by now. Why don't you inform everyone to stick together and move as one? After all that just happened, we can't be sure if something like this will happen again."
Mo's gaze swept over the lifeless bodies of the Holy Spirit Palace disciples sprawled across the ground, their blood staining the valley floor—a sight that made one feel nauseous.
He felt an even greater sense of dread in his heart. They had barely escaped from the Dungeon, and if they were to die unexpectedly due to someone else's schemes, it would be too unfair. The Holy Spirit Palace was insidious and cruel, far more terrifying than they had imagined.
Those people no longer cared about their reputation; they dared to act against them, the Lone Cultivators, in broad daylight. If that were the case, it would be better to act together; at least they could look out for one another.
"You make a good point!" Mo Lao Zheng nodded. "Old Madam will notify everyone immediately. We must be cautious and avoid acting alone!"
With that, he turned and walked deeper into the valley, calling out loudly to gather the scattered Lone Cultivators.
Shen Qingyue had been like an invisible person beside Chen Li. She finally discovered Chen Li's little secret. Chen Li showed no intention of hiding it. He reached out to ruffle the hedgehog's head and quietly looked at Shen Qingyue. "Xiao Yue'er, you've seen through my secret. Please don't tell anyone. After all, we are struggling to protect ourselves. If someone finds out about this prickly little creature with such great abilities, we would be finished."
Hearing this, Shen Qingyue smiled sweetly as she gazed at Chen Li. She had already had some suspicions before; now she just had confirmation. However, having finally caught him off guard, she couldn't let this opportunity slip away.
Slowly, she extended two fingers.
"Two Breaking Barrier Pills!"
Chen Li looked at his sister trying to extort him and felt a headache coming on.
"Disagree?" Shen Qingyue's cold voice rang out, carrying a hint of threat.
"Did I not agree to you?" he replied.
What kind of people surrounded him? One was extorting his sister while another was bargaining with a demon beast. Did they really think those pills could be easily refined?
