"Heh," Chen Li chuckled lightly as he put away the Explosive Talisman. "Now that's more like it; at least you know your place."
Though he spoke casually, he understood that Tai Xu Zhenzi was not exaggerating. The matter of recognizing a master was indeed fraught with danger. However, fortune favored the bold, and with such an opportunity before him, he certainly wouldn't let it slip away easily.
With that thought, he became serious. "Alright, I won't scare you anymore. This time, I'll be your shield!"
Tai Xu Zhenzi's face immediately flushed with excitement.
"Great!"
Perhaps realizing his own loss of composure, Tai Xu Zhenzi quickly composed himself and cautiously looked at Chen Li.
Chen Li, unfazed, simply gazed back and asked, "So, when will the Heavenly Guardian Beast appear?"
"In just a few days!" Tai Xu Zhenzi replied earnestly. "Old Madam has sensed its aura growing stronger; it should break free within three days!"
"Three days..." Chen Li pondered for a moment; there was still time.
Shen Qingyue looked at Chen Li in surprise and asked in a low voice, "Are you really planning to have the divine beast recognize you as its master?"
Chen Li's eyes brightened with determination. He nodded. "Yes."
The divine beast from the dawn of creation was indeed an impressive ally. If he could have it recognize him as its master, he would gain significant strength beyond what the system provided. After all, boosting his combat power was always a priority.
Seeing his serious demeanor, Shen Qingyue decided not to say more. Instead, she quietly took out some pills and handed them to Chen Li.
"Make sure to take these."
Chen Li grinned and accepted them without hesitation. "Truly my good sister."
Shen Qingyue's cheeks flushed as she shot him a glare before moving to sit down nearby in meditation.
Chen Li smiled at her reaction but chose not to tease her further. He also settled down, closing his eyes to rest and gather his energy.
He had specifically set a reminder for Tai Xu Zhenzi, and as soon as the three days were up, he would wake him immediately.
Three days—neither long nor short—passed in the blink of an eye. During this time, Chen Li prepared himself for the upcoming recognition of his master. He adjusted his state to its peak and made thorough preparations just in case. Tai Xu Zhenzi dared not disturb Chen Li and could only wait anxiously on the side.
Finally, on the evening of the third day, a powerful aura erupted from the center of Tai Xu Zhenzi's space, causing the vast mountain range to tremble slightly. In an instant, that anticipation swept through the entire space.
It's here! Tai Xu Zhenzi exclaimed and immediately sent a message to Chen Li. His expression was filled with excitement as he gazed in the direction from which the aura came, wishing he could rush over himself.
Chen Li sensed the wave of sound and instantly opened his eyes. A bright light shot from his clear gaze, fixating intensely on that direction.
Boom!
A deafening roar echoed, as if the heavens were collapsing and the earth was shattering, causing the entire space to shake violently. Following that, a beam of golden light shot up into the sky, piercing through the clouds and illuminating the previously dim space as if it were daytime.
Roar!
A thunderous beast roar resonated throughout the entire space, shaking Chen Li's blood and nearly forcing him to spit out a mouthful of blood. What overwhelming pressure! Chen Li was astonished; this was just a cub, yet it exuded such terrifying might. What would happen when it matured?
As the golden light faded, a golden sphere surged from the mountain range into the sky, quickly floating into the void. Initially no larger than a fist, it hovered mid-air like a forgotten star.
However, in the blink of an eye, it began to ravenously absorb the surrounding Heaven and Earth Spiritual Energy. As Spiritual Energy poured in, the sphere expanded wildly, its golden radiance becoming increasingly dazzling, almost blinding anyone who looked directly at it.
Chen Li and Shen Qingyue had no choice but to channel their spiritual power to form a barrier in front of them just to barely gaze upon this spectacle.
This little thing has quite an appetite. Chen Li couldn't help but click his tongue; this was no mere divine beast emerging—it was clearly a gold-devouring beast that had fallen from the heavens!
Tai Xu Zhenzi was sweating nervously on the side. If it weren't for the presence of Chen Li and Shen Qingyue, he would have rushed over to investigate by now.
"Senior, please don't rush. The divine beast hasn't shown itself yet, and you're already like this. What will you do later?" Chen Li couldn't help but tease as he watched Tai Xu Zhenzi's anxious demeanor.
Tai Xu Zhenzi cleared his throat twice, suppressing his excitement and trying to appear calm. "Old Madam, I'm just worried for Young Master Chen. This divine beast recognizing its master is a significant matter; we can't afford to be careless!"
Chen Li shot him a half-smile and didn't continue the topic, instead focusing his attention on the golden orb floating in mid-air.
The orb was growing larger, its golden light becoming increasingly blinding, resembling a small sun hanging in the center of space.
Time passed—perhaps it was the length of an incense stick, maybe a quarter of an hour, or perhaps just a fleeting moment—before the dazzling golden light finally began to slowly dissipate.
As the golden glow faded away, the true form of the orb gradually revealed itself.
What is this? Chen Li's eyes widened in disbelief.
He had expected a majestic beast, but what appeared was something that was hard to describe!
The divine beast was only the size of a palm, covered in golden fur that made it look like an oversized golden yarn ball.
It had a pair of golden wings that flapped energetically but couldn't lift off the ground.
Beneath its round, big eyes was a tiny mouth that opened and closed slightly, resembling a newborn creature with an indescribable cuteness.
If he hadn't seen it with his own eyes, Chen Li would never have believed this was the legendary divine beast born at the beginning of heaven and earth!
Tai Xu Zhenzi was also dumbfounded; after so many years of living, he had never seen such a peculiar divine beast.
Is this really a divine beast? Shen Qingyue couldn't help but cover her mouth and chuckle lightly; it was her first time seeing such an unassuming creature.
The little being seemed to notice the gazes around it. Its big eyes rolled around before finally landing on Chen Li.
Cheep cheep!
It tilted its head towards Chen Li and called out in a sweet voice before flapping its tiny wings and flying toward him.
