Chen Li coldly stared at Chen Ming, his eyes showing no sign of fear.
"I'm waiting!"
For eight years, his mother and Grandfather's family had been missing without a trace. Over the past few years, he had always relied on Shen Qingyue to search for their presence. Unfortunately, they had never been able to pinpoint their whereabouts. The only consolation was that his mother and Grandfather were still alive.
Shen Qingyue seemed to sense the change in Chen Li's emotions. She gently tugged at the hem of his shirt and softly said, "It's okay; no one can harm us."
Chen Li felt a sense of comfort and nodded lightly.
Bloodline proof? I want to see how you use our bloodline to prove yourself! A cold smile crept onto Chen Li's lips as he glared at Chen Ming.
Hearing this, Chen Ming's eyes glinted with malice. Just as he was about to speak, a deafening roar echoed from all directions.
Roar!
Awooo!
Hiss!
Accompanied by violent tremors in the ground, it felt as if thousands of horses were galloping towards them. The once calm Azure Wind Mountain Range instantly transformed into an ocean of beasts!
Countless beasts of various shapes and sizes surged forth from deep within the mountains like a tidal wave, rushing toward the crowd.
The eyes of these beasts were blood-red, radiating a bloodthirsty glow that sent chills down one's spine.
The beasts are attacking! It's the Beast Tide!
How could this happen? Why are there so many beasts in the Azure Wind Mountain Range?
Panic erupted among the crowd, with frantic shouts rising one after another.
"Everyone stay calm! Form a defensive formation!"
The elders of the Three Major Sects shouted commands to their disciples. Although they were among the empire's top powers, they dared not underestimate such a massive Beast Tide.
The disciples of the Three Major Sects were well-trained and quickly reacted, summoning their magical artifacts and forming defensive arrays to create a solid barrier.
The number of beasts was overwhelming, each one fearless and charging forward like moths to a flame, relentlessly assaulting the defensive formation.
In an instant, the sounds of battle—shouts, roars, and the clashing of magical artifacts—intertwined, plunging the entire Azure Wind Mountain Range into chaos. The impact of the Beast Tide was even fiercer than anticipated; those low-level beasts were undeterred, pressing on with their flesh and blood, tearing open cracks in the defenses of the Three Major Sects.
The Lone Cultivators at the forefront were not so fortunate.
"Damn it! I don’t want to die here!" shouted a short and stout Lone Cultivator, struggling to fend off the attacks of three wolf-like beasts with a rusted Flying Sword. His protective barrier flickered erratically, clearly on the verge of collapse.
"Ha ha! Dead fatso, your time has come!" mocked a tall and thin Lone Cultivator nearby, reveling in his misfortune without any intention of helping.
"To hell with you! If I'm going down, I’ll take you with me!" The stout Lone Cultivator roared as he suddenly withdrew his protective barrier, allowing the three Wolf-Shaped Beasts to pounce on him.
A chilling scream echoed through the valley, sending shivers down spines. In an instant, the three Wolf-Shaped Beasts tore the stout Lone Cultivator into pieces, blood and entrails splattering everywhere in a gruesome scene.
Before the tall and thin Lone Cultivator could even celebrate, a massive Giant Bear Beast charged toward him.
The giant bear swung its paw, as large as a grinding stone, crashing down onto his protective barrier.
With a loud crack, the barrier shattered; the thin Lone Cultivator didn’t even have time to scream before being turned into mush beneath the bear's paw.
"No! The defense line of the Lone Cultivators is collapsing!" Lin Xuan's face turned pale as he witnessed the hellish scene before him, a wave of helplessness rising within him.
"Cloud Sword Elder, this can’t go on! We need to find a way to escape!" Blazing Sun Elder's face was grim as flames surged in his hands; with one strike, he incinerated a Leopard Beast that attempted to sneak attack.
"But our retreat has already been blocked by the Beast Tide! We can’t get out!" Elder Lengyue's voice carried a hint of despair. She wielded her sword like the wind, pushing back the surrounding beasts, but more continued to surge forth like an endless tide.
Even without any High-Level Monsters appearing, this relentless wave would exhaust even the strongest cultivators.
Panic spread among everyone as despair settled in their hearts. The Beast Tide showed no signs of ending; these creatures charged forward recklessly without fear of death.
Finding a way out was not going to be easy.
Chen Li and Shen Qingyue were young and desperately maintained the barrier defense behind everyone. However, they both knew that this barrier wouldn’t hold for long. If they didn’t come up with a solution quickly, they would all be doomed.
"Quick," Chen Li scanned the surroundings and said, "the back route is blocked. The only way to survive is to go inside."
"Inside?" Shen Qingyue followed Chen Li's gaze. That direction led deep into the Azure Wind Mountain Range, shrouded in mist year-round, with chilling winds blowing. More importantly, it was eerily silent, with even the vegetation appearing charred and lifeless.
Rumor had it that dangers lurked within; even the strong from the Three Major Sects dared not tread lightly there.
"That's right, inside." Chen Li nodded gravely. Although it was dangerous, it was better than waiting here to die. Besides, I suspect this Beast Tide outbreak may be related to what’s inside.
"You mean..." Shen Qingyue's expression changed as she seemed to realize something.
"Yes." Chen Li didn't elaborate further, but Shen Qingyue understood his implication.
If they went in, there might still be a glimmer of hope.
However, it's too dangerous inside, Shen Qingyue hesitated.
"No 'buts.' We have no choice now," Chen Li said solemnly.
There was no other option left.
Looking at Chen Li's determined eyes, Shen Qingyue felt a sense of resolve and nodded heavily.
At that moment, she turned to Lin Xuan beside her and said cheerfully, "Lin Xuan, why don't we retreat into the Silent Mountain Range behind us?"
Lin Xuan was taken aback, glancing around before sighing inwardly; they could only take a gamble now! "Everyone retreat into the mountains! I'll hold them off!"
Lin Xuan instructed the many students and struck out with a palm to block the rear of the group.
The young students from the Imperial Academy watched this scene with glistening eyes.
Without hesitation, everyone quickly retreated into the silent depths of the mountains behind them.
As the Imperial Academy students withdrew into the mountains, Cloud Sword Elder in the distance also cast his gaze toward the depths of Azure Wind Mountain Range, his eyes revealing a hint of relaxation.
