After Xu Qingqing and Ren Jie returned to their place, Zhang Manli rushed over, her excitement palpable as she inquired about the situation.
"Did you get the food?"
"No," Xu Qingqing replied, her face filled with disappointment. "Lin Tianyu's door is too solid; we couldn't break it down, and he has a gun."
Upon hearing this, disappointment flickered across Zhang Manli's face as well, but she quickly regained her composure and suggested, "Maybe we can find a way to unlock his door and catch him off guard."
Ren Jie’s eyes lit up at Zhang Manli's words, and he exclaimed, "Great idea! That way, we can sneak into his room and take the food."
However, a problem arose: they didn't have a key. Just then, Ren Jie recalled something and said, "I remember there's a locksmith nearby who is highly skilled. He was imprisoned for stealing from safes. Perhaps we can ask him for help."
With that, Ren Jie decided to set off immediately in search of the locksmith.
As night fell, the city was enveloped in silence. Meanwhile, Xu Qingqing and the others quietly gathered in the hallway outside Lin Tianyu's house. They concealed themselves, as if engaged in a mysterious and tense mission.
Xu Qingqing kept a wary eye on the man beside Ren Jie, whose lewd expression stirred unease within her.
"Are you sure he can open any door?" she asked doubtfully. The man's appearance did not inspire confidence; his sharp features made him hard to trust.
Seeing her concern, Ren Jie quickly patted the man on the shoulder and said, "My friend Qingqing is asking you a question."
The man snapped out of his daze and hurriedly smiled, "Beautiful lady, please don’t worry; I guarantee it will be no problem at all. If I claim to be the best locksmith, no one would dare say they are better than me—even safe deposit boxes are no challenge!"
He assured them with fervor, but the cunning glint in his eyes was hard to miss.
Xu Qingqing frowned slightly; her worries were not entirely alleviated. She understood the importance of this operation and knew that there could be no mistakes.
At that moment, Ren Jie whispered, "I've contacted Liu Dahu from earlier today; he's on his way here with some people. With so many of us this time, we will definitely catch him."
Everyone waited in silence as time ticked by. Finally, footsteps approached from afar. A group of figures emerged into view, led by Liu Dahu from earlier that day.
Liu Dahu wore a confident smile, his eyes gleaming with determination. This time he was resolved to regain his lost face and show Lin Tianyu what he was capable of. Behind him trailed several residents with ulterior motives, eager to grab a share from Lin Tianyu’s resources.
They crept stealthily, one after another, toward the floor where Lin Tianyu was located.
"Once Sun unlocks the door, we rush in and take care of Lin Tianyu. If he dares to resist, we can just kill him; it doesn't matter now since no one will come to interfere with our business," Ren Jie said with a sinister smile, greed glinting in his eyes. The others nodded in agreement, their eyes fixed intently on the door of Lin Tianyu's home as if it were a treasure vault.
It was important to note that the entire neighborhood was experiencing a power outage, except for Lin Tianyu's house, which still had its lights on. Moreover, they hadn't had a proper meal in a long time, while Lin Tianyu's home was overflowing with food. To top it off, he had a stove, which made it all the more tempting for them.
Seeing that everyone was ready, Ren Jie whispered, "Let's move."
