However, no matter how hard they tried, the door remained unmoved, as if it were indestructible. Xu Qingqing stood to the side, her face dark with anger. She had thought she could easily enter this room, but now she faced unexpected obstacles. She bit her lip tightly, contemplating how to teach Lin Tianyu a lesson later. If all else failed, she would have to kill him. After all, the entire city was in blackout, and all surveillance systems were down. In that case, even if someone died here, no one would find out. A glint of ruthlessness flashed in Xu Qingqing's eyes.
Just as they were getting ready to smash their way in, a gunshot rang out. One of the henchmen fell to the ground! The sudden noise startled them into stopping their movements. "You’re deliberately killing someone and you have a weapon; you’re finished," Xu Qingqing said to him, her fear palpable. Ren Jie and the Brothers were also terrified. Although they weren't good people, they had never witnessed a close-range execution before!
"Call the police! Call the police! Someone's been murdered!" Lin Tianyu watched them in chaos from his position.
"Fools! If you call the police, it’ll be your end first!" Lin Tianyu questioned them coldly. "You came here for a reason; what do you want?"
His gaze was icy, like that of a fierce beast!
"Brother, we just want some food; we mean no harm! This is all a misunderstanding!" Ren Jie stammered as he backed away in fear.
Xu Qingqing was so scared that she froze completely, standing still and not daring to move!
At that moment, another group of people approached. The leader of this group was Liu Dahu, who had been injured two days ago! Due to their injuries and lack of food, they had resorted to robbing supplies from house to house!
Liu Dahu had specifically come to negotiate with Lin Tianyu, hoping to lure him out! However, when they reached the upper floor, they happened to witness Ren Jie's henchman being shot dead!
Liu Dahu looked at the lifeless body of his subordinate on the ground, cold sweat instantly breaking out on his forehead. Taking a deep breath, he forced himself to appear calm as he stepped forward. Liu Dahu swallowed hard. "Look, food is in such short supply right now that everyone is struggling to get by. You must have quite a bit of stock at home. Why don't we share and get through this together? What do you say?"
Lin Tianyu chuckled lightly. "Do you really think I would believe your nonsense?"
Liu Dahu quickly waved his hands. "I swear on my honor, there’s not a single lie in what I said! If you're willing to cooperate with us, we can be brothers from now on—sharing both hardships and fortunes!"
Lin Tianyu scoffed dismissively. "I have no interest in being brothers with scum like you. Get lost, or don’t blame me for being rude."
Seeing the situation turning against him, Liu Dahu left in defeat. He knew there was no way Lin Tianyu would open the door for him, and he couldn't force his way in either. After all, Lin Tianyu had firearms—one shot could take him down! It was better to retreat for now and think of another plan later. Ren Jie pulled Xu Qingqing along as they hurriedly fled the scene.
