As the two figures stepped into the arena, those who had been engaged in combat instinctively halted their movements and began to retreat towards the edges of the arena.
The atmosphere shifted dramatically, revealing a street scene that had never before appeared in the recent Yuezi. Traditionally, Yuezi would conjure images of the sea, bamboo forests, grasslands, and mountains—natural landscapes rarely resembling urban settings like this one.
The bustling street was alive with a variety of passersby: an old man pushing a cart, a young boy selling wine, and a swordsman clad in armor. Upon seeing the two figures suddenly appear in the sky, everyone was taken aback; the scene was so surreal that it left them questioning its authenticity.
In the past, there had been speculation that the landscapes within the Grand Arena, whether cities or otherwise, were merely illusions crafted by Bu Luo to appear more realistic. However, after the street scene from Tiandong City emerged, no one dared to claim it was an illusion anymore.
Observing the street scene before him, Jiang Anbo paused for a moment, then snapped back to reality, muttering to himself as if explaining it to Gu You.
"What’s going on?" Gu You asked with confusion. He vividly recalled walking along the Heart's Path when he first entered the academy; even now, he couldn't discern what was real and what was not.
Everyone affected by that day’s competition had been found afterward and bore identical injuries. The entire city had witnessed that match.
"Was it famous?"
"Yes," Jiang Anbo nodded. "That battle made Jade Void Sect Qing Ding Dao Ren renowned; it has only been three hundred years since Bu Luo passed."
"Nascent Soul, a god?"
"Nascent Soul slays gods."
Gu turned his head to look at Jiang Anbo, surprised by the response. After all, the distinction between a deity and a mere mortal was not something to be taken lightly. The difference between the two was as vast as the clouds above and the mud below; one resided in the heavens, while the other remained on the ground.
Bu Luo glanced back at the two individuals currently engaged in their competition and felt a sense of relief. In that era, there were very few geniuses. Not to mention the legendary Yin Tianheng, Guang Nao, and Yan Dong, there was also Hong Yulong, who was capable of battling Nascent Soul cultivators. The Divine Cultivator Tenglan, known as Zhongshang, was not even a hundred years old and was likely on the verge of a breakthrough, while Mu Qinglong took steady steps, progressing one step at a time.
The seemingly calm surface of the sea was actually hiding turbulent undercurrents. Moreover, many of those ranked higher than Tenglan had not shown themselves for quite some time, much like the elusive Rabbit Spirit.
This did not account for Gu himself. If all of Gu's battles were considered, he had likely already surpassed the boundaries set for geniuses and could no longer be measured by the standards of ordinary cultivators.
Since emerging from the Flowing Cloud Realm, Gu had not encountered a situation that required him to use his trump cards. Most of the time, his enemies were too weak; they had surpassed the level of their younger peers. Even if Gu unleashed all his trump cards against Bu Luo's old men, he would have no choice but to flee.
Bu Luo did not know much about that Qing Ding Dao Ren; after all, he had only been in the cultivation world for just over four years. He had never heard of those well-known cultivators outside of the academy. The memories of Primordial Celestial Demons did not include many names of mortal cultivators.
I wonder if Yan Dong is from that city?
It seemed like it might be Chongzhou City. The eaves of the houses along the roadside were made from wood that appeared to come from trees typical of the western regions. Only in Kunlun Mountain Foot's east could such abundant building materials be produced. Judging by their thickness, they must have come from old trees with many years behind them.
Gu raised an eyebrow and joked, "I didn't expect you to be so knowledgeable about miscellaneous studies."
When there's nothing else to do, I tend to slack off and read random books.
"Are you two looking for something?"
The cultivator running the betting house at the Foundation Establishment Stage smiled upon seeing Gu. Recently, Gu had earned quite a bit of spirit stones thanks to him. Bu Luo was merely a runner for him; he couldn't help but feel frustrated as a dealer who couldn't win.
One million spirit stones, he bet on Hong Yulong to win.
How much?
In a side hall outside the Universe Hall, a neatly dressed guard lowered his head, listening to the furious shout of the young man before him. He didn't dare to look up, not even daring to breathe in the presence of Yi Dong.
One million.
With a loud crash, a nearby inkstone was smashed to pieces by the enraged youth.
So confident, afraid that the one million would go to waste?
Returning to the young master, that was the ongoing battle between Hong Yulong and Xu Qiaoshan.
The thirtieth and thirty-first.
