After lunch, Hong Ling finished tidying up Gu Ping's table and handed her a universal VIP Card for World of Mortals. This card could be used at any money exchange, and it seemed to be of a high level. Gu Ping didn’t bother checking the amount; it must be substantial, so she accepted it, earning a bit of respect from Hong Ling.
Bu Luo understood the situation well enough. Having grown up outside human society, he had no concept of spirit stones and wouldn’t know their value.
Sighing, he thought about how he had missed the chance to enjoy the Family Joy at Fireworks Alley with his friends that morning. He had heard that Smoke Willow Alley in Tiandong City was just a stone's throw from Jade Capital Riverbank. Would Young Master Hong have a wild night there? Ha!
He dared to think so.
Jiang Anbo’s voice was low but didn’t shy away from Hong Ling. His loud exclamation nearly shattered their eardrums, causing Dong Lai to jump. Bu Luo and Hong Ling exchanged glances, feeling a chill run down their spines at Jiang Anbo's words.
Bu Luo thought it would be fine if he went along with him.
Jiang Anbo initially believed that Hong Ling and Hong Yulong were likely on the verge of marriage and would avoid places like those alleys. He wanted to take the opportunity to ask Gu Ping and Jie Donglai what to do, as it seemed too reckless for a woman like Hong Ling to go to such places.
If I want to go, he will accompany me.
It was clear that while Hong Yulong appeared charming and graceful, his emotional intelligence was lacking. Regardless, he wouldn’t refuse anything Hong Ling asked; he simply followed her lead without question.
Gu Ping and Jiang Anbo exchanged a glance, feeling somewhat helpless as they looked at Hong Ling.
As a woman, should I really be thinking about marriage while going to such places?
Am I afraid of being recognized?
Hong Ling smiled but didn’t say anything further. She turned towards East Tower and returned briefly to her residence in Sky's End Tower, leaving Gu Ping and Jiang Anbo feeling somewhat bewildered.
"What is he up to?" Gu Ping asked, a bit puzzled.
"Changing clothes."
"Could it be that changing clothes also changes his face? He won't turn into a man, will he?"
"Who says he can't turn into a man? How about it? This young master is undeniably handsome and charming," he replied confidently.
Just after a couple of sentences, Hong Ling returned. The speed at which she came back suggested that she was used to it. Gu Ping thought to himself while sizing up Yan Dong, who was disguised as a man. There was a hint of femininity that didn't quite match the masculine attire. Bu Luo joked, "No, she seems to have some potential for being a pretty boy."
"Her face looks quite flushed too," he remarked.
"Not at all! I don't deny it. She has been spoiled since childhood. All those Demon Spirit relatives of hers treat her like a treasure; how could they possibly neglect her?"
"You make me sound like a Demon Prince."
"Close enough, close enough."
"Then I should say she should just capture me; maybe she can exchange me for some good stuff."
"That's probably not going to happen. No, both sides would definitely have their own agendas. After all, Tree Ancestor and Demon Spirit don't quite see eye to eye with her."
"How boring."
"It really is boring."
On the banks of the Jade Capital River at night, the lights twinkled like stars reflected on the water, resembling a galaxy that had descended to earth. The bustling crowd included disciples from noble families, wealthy merchants, and even nobility and high officials, all of whom occupied a place in this world of mortals.
This was truly a place where only the rich could afford to be. Here, in just one night, one could accumulate countless Spirit Stone Talismans. It was said that one could not only block the Jade Capital River but could also build a long embankment with what they gathered. Yet, the flow of people never seemed to diminish; it was likely that this place gathered nearly half of the wealth in Tian Di Dong.
Jiang Anbo's words made Hong Ling chuckle repeatedly, leaving him somewhat flustered and unsure of where he had gone wrong.
While it gathered nearly half of Tian Di Dong's influential and wealthy individuals, half of the wealth and resources were sent to the battlefield. This gold mine had been filled for many years but still remained unfilled.
Gu Ping felt a stir in his heart as he recalled what Hong Ling had mentioned. Having read numerous books in the academy and possessing scattered memories of the Primordial Celestial Demon, he knew a bit about what Hong Ling referred to—the Northern Triangle Region, a fortified area south of it, which served as the boundary between the world of mortals and the battlefield against Nine Nether Cultivators. Sometimes it was necessary to resist the dampness from the extreme north. This barrier had been built decades ago to fend off large-scale invasions by Demon Cultivators and still served its purpose.
It seemed that Young Master Hong frequented such places and knew quite a bit.
He joked lightly, careful not to provoke Yu Long.
No, no! What if something went wrong? It appeared that Brother Yu Long also preferred to keep things discreet.
But what was that?
Gu Ping pointed at several boats docked on the river. He rarely ventured here, and as soon as he spoke, his background was revealed; even Hong Yulong shook his head.
Those were flower boats from various shops in Smoke Willow Alley, carrying some of the finest courtesans from those establishments. They certainly held some value that ordinary people could not access.
