Gu Ping smiled, but his eyes were cold as he looked at the Bone Elder in front of him. Seeing the Bone Elder's face turn pale, Gu Ping took a deep breath.
He did not strike the disciple but instead bowed respectfully to his master. His voice boomed, clear enough for every disciple present to hear.
"Unworthy disciple Xuanming requests the execution of Bone Elder."
Upon hearing this, the usually expressionless face of his master furrowed into a frown. He closed his eyes and shook his head, remaining silent.
The surrounding crowd erupted in commotion. No one had ever witnessed a disciple asking for the execution of an elder; not only had they never seen it, but they had never even heard of such a thing. This bold request left everyone astonished.
The disciple who had falsely accused Gu Ping trembled all over, falling to the ground. He pointed at Gu Ping with shaking legs, trying to say something, but no words came out.
"Unworthy disciple Xuanming again requests the execution of Bone Elder."
With Gu Ping's second plea, the Bone Elder could no longer contain himself. He slammed his hand on the table and shouted angrily, "How dare you! When did this academy become a place where anyone can demand the death of another?"
As he spoke, he drew out his weapon—a spear—its tip adorned with multiple blades. Any cut from one of those blades would leave a wound deep enough to be serious, though not fatal; it was a characteristic of such weapons. The spear was even more formidable due to its enhanced sharpness, which made it lethal but also stripped it of any spiritual essence.
Using the Small Teleportation Technique, the Bone Elder appeared behind Gu Ping and aimed for his head, intending to end Gu Ping's life with a single strike. However, just as the spear was about to pierce Gu Ping's skull, he extended his right leg to block its path. With a swift motion, he clamped down on the spear's tip with his legs.
"Hmph."
With a powerful squeeze of his right leg, Gu Ping broke the spear in half right before the astonished gaze of the Bone Elder. That moment reshaped everyone's understanding of that junior brother's strength.
In the eyes of almost everyone, the actions of Bone Elder at this moment were anything but wise. Gu Ping's strength had already been recognized by all, especially considering that he had defeated Tenglan, known as Zhongshang, who had just broken through to the Divine Period. Such a glorious achievement seemed unattainable for most throughout their lives, yet Gu Ping had accomplished it—not only did he achieve it, but he did so in a remarkably impressive manner.
At this moment, Bone Elder's actions were akin to a moth flying into a flame, seeking his own demise. He could not possibly underestimate Gu Ping; after all, Gu Ping had already triumphed over Tenglan at the Peak of Nascent Soul.
Having shattered the weapon with his spear, Gu Ping did not pause. Instead, he followed up with a side kick that sent Bone Elder crashing into the ruins below. Only then did he stop his assault and refrain from pursuing further, bowing respectfully to his master.
Three requests to eliminate Bone Elder and his accomplices were made.
Seeing Bone Elder's unwillingness to surrender, Gu Ping took a deep breath and glanced at him before slowly uttering a single word.
"Spare."
Upon hearing that word, the disciple who had just slandered Gu Ping turned pale as death and fell to his knees, pleading for mercy from Gu Ping in front of everyone. In that moment, he was desperate to escape with his life; he had lost all dignity and was reduced to begging for survival.
However, Gu Ping suddenly vanished from his spot and reappeared behind the recently risen Bone Elder. A bright red heart was now gripped tightly in Gu Ping's hand. At that moment, Gu Ping bore an eerie smile reminiscent of Extermination encountered in the Flowing Cloud Realm.
"I don't deny," he thought. "He wants to kill me, and he must kill me."
Bone Elder's initial words echoed in his mind: if possible, Gu Ping would not choose to kill. But he could not allow those who plotted against him to go unpunished. Gu Ping had no choice but to make an example out of him—to let those schemers understand that they would pay a bloody price for their calculations against him.
At that moment, Death swung its scythe and claimed Bone Elder's life. This was not merely a tactical maneuver; it was also a ceasefire agreement.
Killing Bone Elder signified that Gu Ping would no longer pursue matters against them; it meant they would no longer scheme against him. If they chose to continue their plots, then Bone Elder's head would serve as a challenge for war—one that would test whether they dared to accept it.
Seeing that Gu Ping had resolved that matter, the Master spoke: "Starting tomorrow, the Tenth Generation Disciple Xuanming will be the new Eldest Disciple, representing the World of Mortals Academy. The return date is uncertain."
