Gu seemed to see his own soul in the cold river water, witnessing himself killing those Demon Spirits, seeing Ergou, Afu, Sun Zheng, and Elder Wu. All those souls transformed into vengeful spirits, swirling around Gu, seeking to pull him closer to the Yin River, to join their ranks.
Hmph.
Gu's body radiated a brilliant light, causing all the vengeful spirits to scatter in an instant. He glanced around and found nothing but a lingering aura of yin energy surrounding him. It was likely that the Chaotic Dao Foundation had absorbed too much yin energy, resulting in an overwhelming density that led to his hallucinations.
Thinking of this, Gu enveloped himself in the Light of Fire to prevent another invasion of his mind by the yin energy. But could it be that the earlier illusion was not a true reflection of his inner doubts?
He stood up and walked toward the Yin Wind Gorge. The biting cold wind felt as if it were scraping against his bones, making him feel as though his flesh and bones were being torn apart, causing Gu to halt his thoughts once more.
He did not know how long he had walked when he spotted an opening. A surge of Peach Pink Flame ignited around his legs as he approached the cave entrance. The wind outside grew heavier, and Gu could no longer endure the unbearable pain of the bone-chilling gusts. Without thinking, he stepped into the cave to escape the relentless winds.
The cave appeared deep; he had no idea what lay ahead as he ventured further inside. As he moved deeper, the wind grew weaker. The Light of Fire elevated Gu's body temperature significantly and illuminated the surrounding rock walls.
On the walls were etched strange characters or symbols that resembled children's doodles—some appeared to have been carved forcefully with stones. Many had faded away, but a few patterns remained vividly on the wall.
The images depicted figures resembling Yuan Shi people—some drawing bows and arrows, others wrestling with beasts. Further along, there were cave-like shapes and dragon-like patterns alongside various totems. Gu pondered that many Yuan Shi ancestors revered powerful beings, especially the Heavenly Rain Dragon and the Fiery Moon Golden Crow.
As he continued deeper into the cave, Gu noticed bizarrely shaped figures striking various odd poses—one foot on a shoulder while another stretched toward the ceiling. Some figures seemed to touch their own fields with one leg while pressing their temples with another. All these actions made Gu feel that the patterns held some significance.
He casually chose a simpler pose to imitate. Initially amused by himself, he suddenly found it hard to smile as a black stream of Liquid Chuang surged through his meridians. As Gu halted his movements, Bu Luo quickly dissipated.
No cultivator would be unaware that Black Spiritual Power represented something significant; it was a remnant from a hundred thousand years ago when the Demonic Path wreaked havoc upon the world.
In the Tai Xu Dao, chaos is denied, and most disciples possess spiritual power that appears gray. The Nine Nether Yellow Spring Path is characterized by a brown hue, while the Lutuo Path is marked by a deep purple. The academy represents the teachings of the Dao, where the common cultivation is associated with Righteous Qi, which shines in pure gold. The Light Path radiates a bright gold and pale pink, occasionally tinged with red. The Limitless Path displays a myriad of colors, while the Qiankun Dao generally lacks a symbolic color due to its association with demonic beasts.
However, Gu You had just caught a glimpse of black spiritual power emerging within his meridians. Could it be that the wall was inscribed with methods of demonic cultivation? He found it hard to believe and wanted to attempt Yi Dong again, but his legs froze in place.
After experiencing the events surrounding the Light Path Classic, Gu felt fear for the first time. Although he didn't understand why, everyone who mentioned demons displayed expressions of terror. Even though Gu Ling Chanzi had shared much about demons, he still held a deep-seated dread towards such entities.
He questioned how there could be demons residing in the back mountains of Mok Ming Academy. Doubt clouded his judgment; he couldn't believe that such creatures could exist there. Yet, a sudden voice sent chills down his spine.
"Have you discovered it yet, Little Guy? After all these years, I don't deny it. I am the only one who can delve so deeply into Yin Wind Gorge."
A figure emerged before Gu, illuminated by the light of fire. The person was shackled by heavy chains, their legs and feet bound. This individual appeared to be a formidable Great Master; however, prolonged inability to absorb spiritual energy had rendered him incapable of cultivation, leaving him emaciated.
From the skeletal frame, it was evident that this Great Master had once been robust but now resembled little more than skin and bones. His Dao robe was tattered and worn, and his shoes were so damaged that his toes protruded from them, with long nails caked in filth.
His face was covered in a beard, and his hair seemed to have gone unwashed for many years. Gu wondered if fleas might be living in that mess and pondered the man's origins.
"Am I a Demonic Cultivator?" Gu asked as he looked at the man. He sensed no threatening fluctuations of Ren He from him.
The man shook his head. "My name is Yin Tianheng."
Gu was taken aback; this was an astonishing revelation. The former Master of the Academy was indeed named Yin Tianheng.
