Facing the oncoming Demon Spirit Army, Gu Ping extended his left leg and summoned the Radiant Flame as usual. Unlike before, a small flame flickered at the center of his palm, but this time it burned with a calm intensity, resembling the depths of a vast ocean where the surface may be turbulent, yet beneath it lies a tranquil undercurrent.
The closest to Gu Ping was a Unicorn, which charged towards him with its sharp horn aimed directly at him, emitting a vibrant green glow. However, unexpectedly for the Unicorn, no matter how powerful its attack was, it failed to strike the human before it, as if it had automatically veered off course.
To the other Demon Spirits, the Unicorn appeared to have gone mad, attacking wildly around it. At that moment, a clear red beam of light shot through the night sky and struck the Unicorn's neck. A chilling scene unfolded before all the Demon Spirits: the Unicorn's head and body separated silently. Only when its head fell to the ground did blood begin to flow, causing those Demon Spirits who had intended to rush in to hesitate momentarily.
The shock was overwhelming; they had never witnessed such an attack nor encountered such a cold-hearted human. An hour and a half had passed since the battle began, yet Gu Ping showed no signs of weakness or exhaustion. In his eyes, there was no room for mercy during combat; pity for the enemy would only lead to one’s own irresponsibility.
Gu Ping had already slain over ten Demon Spirits, leaving none intact. Blood flowed continuously from their bodies. Though their numbers were few, against the backdrop of Peach Pink Flame and blood, Gu Ping resembled a smiling demon contemplating how best to harvest their lives.
He laughed—a wild, unrestrained laughter that echoed in the ears of the Demon Spirits. With one leg covering his head and the other hanging loosely, he bent over in manic laughter.
That reckless laughter seemed to resonate far and wide. All beasts that heard it shivered involuntarily; this figure before them was terrifying beyond measure. The dead had come back stronger—could this person truly not be killed?
Fear seeped into the eyes of some Demon Spirits. Gu Ping knew they were afraid; despite their small numbers falling to death, his overwhelming presence instilled a sense of retreat among them. To those Demon Spirits, Gu Ping had become an invincible existence. They would rather climb the Heavenly Ladder or challenge Extermination or even Pudu than stand against that devil.
As his laughter gradually faded into the air, Gu Ping retracted the Radiant Flame and advanced toward the Demon Spirit Army. With each step he took forward, they retreated one step back; with another step from him, they backed away again. Soon enough, Gu Ping stood before Broken Wall.
The Demon Spirits ahead had nowhere left to retreat; unwilling to fight him any longer, they parted ways and allowed Gu Ping passage until he reached the first Demon Spirit—a Azure Peak Demon—an entity combining Earth and Wind attributes with agile limbs and formidable defenses.
As Gu Ping approached it, the rocky face slowly opened its previously closed eyes. "I am strong," it declared confidently. "Stronger than any human I have ever encountered."
He needed to go; his friend Coco was in danger, so he had to hurry. He hoped to get help from the Spirit Tribe, but how could he reach that level?
"Do I want the entire Spirit Tribe to help me find someone?" The Azure Peak Demon looked at Gu Ping in disbelief, seeking confirmation of Gu Ping's words. "I don't deny it," he said jokingly.
"Did I hear you wrong?"
"Then I must try hard; at least I need to defeat Pudu." Although the Azure Peak Demon respected Gu Ping, he didn't believe Gu Ping could take on Pudu right now. Wasn't Pudu someone who could instill despair in all Demon Spirits? Even Jie Donglai's Extermination—could that human even be defeated? "I don't deny it," he added.
"What kind of strength does he have?"
"Transcendence."
Those two words represented everything; there was no need for further explanation. With Gu Ping's current strength, he couldn't possibly take on a Transcendence Period beast. It was unthinkable unless he were to abandon his own body like the Primordial Celestial Demon and choose to battle with his soul. At that moment, Gu Ping's soul was linked with the Pure World Fox's soul, and in the World of Mortals, there was no one with a stronger soul than Gu Ping.
Without asking anything further, Gu Ping moved forward. He had made all the necessary preparations; Jie Donglai was ready for battle.
