In that extremely quiet and serene hospital room, Lin Bai suddenly awoke from a deep slumber without any warning. The atmosphere was thick with a dim and hazy ambiance. The electronic clock on the wall clearly displayed the exact time: it was early morning. 0

What was happening? This feeling... 0

Lin Bai slowly and cautiously opened his eyes, not daring to make any sudden movements. He could distinctly sense an overwhelming and heavy feeling of oppression, as if a thick layer of gloom was tightly enveloping him. 0

Moreover, there was a faint yet undeniable sense of threat, like a wisp of ethereal smoke swirling around him, both near and distant at the same time. It was an extremely elusive sensation, difficult to describe accurately with words. In reality, this feeling stemmed from the body itself, not from his own soul. In other words, this body was acutely and precisely aware of a familiar yet chilling fear. 0

The room was utterly silent. Upon careful observation, there were no signs of anything unusual. It was a private single patient room. 0

Around the hospital bed, various instruments were neatly arranged in an orderly fashion. All of these devices were functioning exceptionally well and normally. To avoid disturbing his quiet rest as much as possible, they would automatically switch to a silent mode at night. Therefore, Lin Bai could not hear the rhythmic and continuous beeping of the heart monitor. 0

Then, Lin Bai became acutely aware that something was amiss. It was too quiet! Not only were the various instruments in the room silent, but there was also not a single sound coming from the corridor or outside the window. Normally, even in silent mode, the instruments would emit a low humming sound generated by electrical currents during operation. 0

Moreover, since this floor housed high-risk patients, nurses would continuously patrol even at night, accompanied by soft murmurs of conversation. Despite the excellent soundproofing of the hospital room door, it was simply impossible for him to hear absolutely nothing. 0

In the corridor, there were faint sounds of footsteps echoing, and outside the window, the gentle rustle of the wind mingled with the chirping of birds and insects. However, at this moment, all sounds had inexplicably vanished without a trace. It was as if the entire world had suddenly fallen into a profound silence. The stillness was overwhelming! 0

Only Lin Bai was filled with confusion and speculation. Just then, he sensed something moving ever so slightly within his line of sight. Instinctively, he quickly turned his gaze upward. 0

There, on the immaculate Heavenly Panel above him, it appeared that some liquid was slowly seeping outward. Gradually, it gathered together and formed a slight bulge that hung down. This liquid exuded a faint red hue, which deepened as the bulge grew larger and drooped lower, resembling fresh blood! 0

Lin Bai was instantly stunned into silence! The dripping Red Droplet seemed to possess a vibrant life force of its own. In mid-air, it continuously veered toward Lin Bai's head, accentuating an already vague sense of impending danger that had been lingering in the background. 0

In that fleeting moment, everything transformed into a chilling reality. A colossal danger loomed, just within reach. Lin Bai could no longer afford even a second of hesitation. With lightning speed, he reached out and pressed the call button beside his bed with all his might. Yet, there was not the slightest response. 0

He was certain that he had pressed the button firmly, but there was no sound of feedback, nor did any light indicating a successful call illuminate. Anxiously, he pressed it several more times in quick succession. At that moment, the Red Droplet was perilously close, almost touching him, with a high likelihood of dropping at any moment. 0

In a panic, Lin Bai hurriedly rolled off the bed in a desperate scramble. He fumbled on the floor, using both hands and feet to hastily crawl toward the door of the ward. However, no matter what he did, he could not manage to open the door. Although the lock on the ward door was clearly not engaged, he racked his brain and exerted every ounce of strength he had, yet he couldn't budge the door that felt as if it had been enchanted! 0

The Red Droplet had settled steadily, landing precisely on the sickbed. It had completely detached from the Heavenly Panel. Then, it began to rise slowly. Yes, it was as if a person was leisurely stretching out their limbs. It gradually lifted itself from the bed, bit by bit growing its own arms and head. The overall appearance still retained that terrifying shade of red. That vivid red was fading at an astonishing speed, leaving everyone speechless. 0

The outline of this human figure stirred an oddly familiar feeling within Lin Bai. Damn, isn't that me? Lin Bai couldn't help but curse under his breath. When his gaze landed on the glasses perched on the face of the red figure, he finally snapped back to reality, as if enlightened by a sudden revelation! This bizarre red entity had transformed into his likeness! 0

What on earth is this thing? An Exotic Species? What exactly mutated into this Exotic Species? What does it want by taking my form? Lin Bai was filled with confusion, muttering to himself incessantly. His eyes were like sharp nails, fixated tightly on the red figure before him. 0

Two hands relentlessly pounded on the door of the hospital room. Thoughts raced through his mind like lightning, frantically devising a plan. Yet, despite his desperate efforts, the pounding produced not a single sound. 0

Under normal circumstances, such vigorous knocking would echo far and wide in the stillness of the night. But now, no matter how hard he struck the door, there was no response. Even with all his strength, it was futile! 0

The sensation was bizarre to an unimaginable degree. It wasn't just the strange feeling of the door beneath his hands; from the moment he had been jolted awake from his slumber, he had acutely sensed that there was not a whisper of sound in the room. It felt as if this space had been completely isolated, sealed off from the outside world. 0

There was absolutely no way to emit even the faintest sound! This was an unprecedented and utterly perplexing situation, one that defied all logic and understanding. 0
