Chen Xinghe had truly betrayed us! The refined scholar, the man I once trusted, was actually an accomplice of the Zeta Aliens!
"Pioneer" immediately ordered to strengthen the base's defenses in preparation for Chen Xinghe's invasion. The soldiers sprang into action, and the entire base went into a state of emergency.
A familiar figure appeared before us—it was Chen Xinghe. He was alone, unarmed, with his usual gentle smile, as if he had come not to invade but to visit.
"Lin Mengyao, we meet again," Chen Xinghe said, his gaze fixed on me, his tone calm. "I know what you're thinking, but I hope you will let me explain."
"What is there to explain?" I replied coldly. "You deceived us; you betrayed humanity!"
"Pioneer" stepped forward, blocking my view, and said in a deep voice, "Chen Xinghe, or perhaps I should call you 'the Observer,' what is your purpose in coming here?"
Chen Xinghe sighed and said, "I came here to stop you. Your Fire Seed Project is a dangerous gamble that will lead humanity to the brink of destruction."
"That's alarmist!" Pioneer scoffed. "The real danger is your Zeta Aliens' Fusion Plan!"
"Fusion is the only way forward," Chen Xinghe's eyes grew resolute. "Humanity's genes have reached their limit; you cannot survive long in the universe. Only by merging with Zeta Aliens' genes can we create a stronger new humanity and continue the flame of civilization."
"You are just justifying an act of aggression!" I couldn't help but interject. "You Zeta Aliens only want to exploit human genes to prolong your own civilization!"
"Exploit? No, this is cooperation," Chen Xinghe shook his head. "We Zeta Aliens possess advanced technology, while you humans have incredible adaptability. Our union will create a perfect race."
"A perfect race?" Pioneer sneered. "More like a puppet race controlled by you Zeta Aliens!"
"Controlled? No, guided," Chen Xinghe maintained his calm tone. "We will guide the new humanity toward a brighter future."
"Enough!" I interrupted him. "No matter how you twist your words, you cannot hide your conspiracy. We will not yield!"
Chen Xinghe looked at me, disappointment flickering in his eyes. "Lin Mengyao, you are too stubborn. You do not understand that everything we do is for..."
"For what?" Zhou Yu suddenly spoke up, struggling to stand with a pale face. "For your Zeta Aliens' survival? For your so-called 'guidance'? In the end, you see us merely as tools—tools to extend your civilization!"
Chen Xinghe fell silent.
"Zhou Yu..." I looked at him with concern; his injuries had not yet healed.
"I'm fine," Zhou Yu smiled at me before turning to Chen Xinghe. "Just leave; you're not welcome here."
Chen Xinghe gazed deeply at us for a moment before turning away and leaving. He offered no resistance and said nothing more as he vanished into the darkness.
"He will come back." Pioneer looked in the direction where Chen Xinghe had disappeared and said, "We must be prepared."
I gazed at the path Chen Xinghe had taken, my heart filled with complex emotions.
Did he really come for the so-called "guidance," or did he have other motives?
