Chapter 145: The Dazzling Light
At that moment, far away in Water City, a sudden burst of golden light erupted, signaling the commotion from Vikas and his team’s battlefield.
The situation over there was uncertain, but one thing was clear: Sato Ryuseki's side was not faring well.
Loki had evidently been waiting for this moment. He ignored Sato Ryuseki's demand to hand over the Cosmic Cube, wearing a calm and self-satisfied smile as he slowly moved forward—not to leave, but rather to approach the center of the magic circle nearby.
What does this guy want to do?
That was likely the thought on everyone's mind at that moment.
Even Thor, who was aboard the Aircraft Carrier, could no longer sit still and was ready to engage. However, Nick Fury clearly wouldn’t allow it. In his view, the situation had escalated to this point, and the citizens of Water City had already evacuated. Since they hadn’t prepared to intervene earlier, they certainly couldn’t do so now.
Nick realized that this group was not to be trifled with. If he sent someone in now, given the fierce confrontation between both sides, it could very well lead to casualties.
Thus, Nick chose to remain on standby.
Meanwhile, Bai Luo in Water City also stayed put.
From Bai Luo's perspective, there was no need for him to take action. The reason was simple: regardless of what Loki intended to do, his performance alongside Sato Ryuseki clearly did not align with the original plans of the Hatsune Victory Team. Therefore, there was no need for Bai Luo to intervene; Sato Ryuseki would undoubtedly be more anxious than anyone else. As for the Buddha Light Team, from their standpoint, both Loki and Sato Ryuseki were their enemies, and they would not allow Loki to succeed in any endeavor.
Thus, it was a case of the emperor being anxious while the eunuchs remained calm; Bai Luo had no reason to wade into these murky waters.
As expected, the situation on the battlefield began to shift. Just moments ago, everyone’s focus had been on Sato Ryuseki and his Cosmic Cube. Now that the Cosmic Cube was in Loki’s hands, all eyes turned toward him.
For some unknown reason, following the loud explosion from the other side of Water City’s battlefield, the light emanating from this magic circle grew increasingly bright.
Hatsune Victory and Tiger Lee simultaneously launched their attack on Loki.
This time, Loki was no longer calm. He dashed forward in a single leap, directly reaching the center of the magic circle. At that moment, Hatsune Miku shot a beam of light from her hands, aimed straight at him. Loki countered with a burst of light, forcefully blocking her attack. His movements were much faster than Sato Ryuseki's; he intercepted Hatsune Miku's swiftest strike and immediately reached out, slamming the Cosmic Cube into the ground beneath him.
With a thunderous crash, the Cosmic Cube plunged into the earth, erupting in a dazzling brilliance that sent Tiger Lee flying. The radiant light shot up into the sky, piercing through the clouds, and then the air split open.
It was a spatial passage.
On one side of this space lay the chaotic battlefield of Water City, while on the other side was the coldly illuminated expanse of the cosmos.
Deep within that starry sky, a series of lights began to shine brightly; it was the fleet of Chitauri.
At that moment, it was evident to anyone watching that Water City was in dire straits. The magic circle laid out by Hatsune Victory Team's Reincarnators had successfully been completed. Otherwise, Loki would not have been able to open such a cosmic passage using the Cosmic Cube.
Sato Ryuseki looked more shocked than anyone else.
Loki laughed maniacally. In his eyes, the leading vessels of the Chitauri army were swooping down on this defenseless city like a swarm of bees.
Just then, Sato Ryuseki shouted from nearby, causing Hatsune Miku to suddenly freeze. In an instant, she transformed into a streak of light—this was truly a transformation into light. To Bai Luo's eyes, the doll-like Hatsune Miku became a blinding flash of white light in an instant. Then, like lightning, this light veered downward and struck Loki, who had just been laughing wildly.
Loki clearly could no longer laugh; the brilliance exploded magnificently in an instant. A terrifying shockwave swept through, instantly destroying all surveillance equipment set up by S.H.I.E.L.D. in that location.
In the distance, Bai Luo suddenly found himself blinded.
However, Bai Luo quickly connected with the Aircraft Carrier headquarters. Nick seemed to be on the bridge when he answered Bai Luo's call. The chaos around them due to the unfolding events made it noisy on Nick's end, but his voice remained clear: "Are you planning to make your move?"
"Bai Luo" said, "I need to get closer—send me a flying vehicle, I need to hurry over!"
Nick didn't say much and simply hung up the phone. In less than two minutes, a black S.H.I.E.L.D. aircraft appeared in "Bai Luo"'s line of sight.
In that brief moment, the situation over at "Sato Ryuseki" changed again. From "Bai Luo"'s position, he could see that the cosmic portal leading to the Chitauri army, which had just been opened by "Loki," was abruptly severed. A massive mechanical creature was halfway through when it was violently torn apart in mid-air, its severed body plummeting like a fallen star, crashing down in the distance of "Water City." The explosion's flames were still clearly visible from where "Bai Luo" stood.
"Bai Luo" took a slight breath; it seemed that "Sato Ryuseki" had successfully executed the final blow with the "Doll Version Hatsune." The newly ascended "Loki" should be finished now.
At that moment, the S.H.I.E.L.D. aircraft that had rushed over from the nearest Aircraft Carrier arrived in front of "Bai Luo." He, along with the already prepared "Lorna" and "Banner," boarded the aircraft and commanded the pilot to ascend.
"Bai Luo" wasn't heading into battle; if he truly intended to join the fight, sneaking in would have been the best option. Since he had requested S.H.I.E.L.D. to send a flying vehicle, he still wanted to observe from a safe distance. He aimed to rise to a sufficiently high position to utilize the equipment on the S.H.I.E.L.D. aircraft to continue monitoring the central battlefield.
But as soon as they ascended, he saw a brilliant light shining in the distance of "Water City."
