Chapter 121: You Have a Cannon, I Have the Terminator
The Reincarnators pinpointed Loki's location faster than the agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
Previously in Berlin, the Buddha Light Team's Reincarnators lost a valuable robot, but they did not come away empty-handed. They successfully stealthily attached tracking devices to Loki and the previously encountered young man with a katana. Manu's robot's tracking device was nearly at the nano level; although there were not many of them, they were definitely hard to detect. The Reincarnators were clearly unaware that they were carrying tracking devices, allowing them to run around without realizing that their positions had already been tracked by enemy Reincarnators and S.H.I.E.L.D.
To everyone's surprise, this group of Japanese and Loki had all returned to Japan.
They truly were a patriotic bunch of Reincarnators.
However, Bai Luo and the Buddha Light Team's Reincarnators understood that as long as these Japanese Reincarnators intended to use the Cosmic Cube to open a cosmic portal and summon the Chitauri army, they would ultimately need to return to America. They required the energy from Tony Stark's Arc Reactor to accomplish everything.
Nevertheless, Nick and Vikas clearly did not want to wait until that moment to take action. They decided to set off for Japan immediately, planning to give this group a surprise.
Vikas and his fellow Reincarnators' intentions were easy to understand. Their aircraft carrier was already airborne, and aside from Thor, all the Avengers were present, plus Magneto's daughter Lorna Dane. Their advantage was evident compared to the enemy Reincarnators who had yet to summon the Chitauri army. If they didn't act now, when would they?
The aircraft carrier was quite fast, and this massive vessel had what was known as optical invisibility, allowing it to hide from both radar and visual detection.
This group of Reincarnators was clearly eager for action.
Natasha appeared somewhat gloomy, likely due to Barton being corrupted by Loki using the Mind Stone. They had been comrades for many years, and hearing this news understandably dampened Black Widow's spirits.
Bai Luo recalled that when S.H.I.E.L.D. was released, everyone thought there was chemistry between Black Widow and Barton. However, as time passed, people realized that this illusion was merely an illusion; it was a typical Marvel setup. Their relationship was truly just "battle camaraderie." Hawkeye Barton already had a wife and children; how could they possibly become a couple?
Although the aircraft carrier seemed large and cumbersome, its speed in the air was still quite impressive. This time, the Buddha Light Team paid a significant price to seize the initiative, so there was no reason for them to let it slip away.
They headed straight for Japan.
The hideout of the Japanese Reincarnators was located in the Nishiden River District of Water City, Japan, within an abandoned coastal factory. Last night, Loki and that Chuunibyou Reincarnator returned here after leaving Berlin, and they hadn't left since, clearly preparing something.
Nick had already made contact with the Japanese Government. The Aircraft Carrier hovered in the skies above Japan, remaining fully cloaked. This time, the Avengers and the Reincarnators each boarded a craft and shot out from the Aircraft Carrier, heading directly for their destination.
Faster than them were the ballistic Missiles launched from the Aircraft Carrier. Three Missiles flew along the coastline, reaching their target before the Avengers and Reincarnators could arrive.
From a distance, Bai Luo saw the flash of fire. The power of the Missiles in reality was undoubtedly much greater; the abandoned factory was almost instantly engulfed in flames, with metal structures flying everywhere as thick smoke and fire billowed up.
This area had long been deserted, with no one around. The choice of this location by the Reincarnators and Loki gave S.H.I.E.L.D. a free opportunity to open fire without restraint.
Following those three Missiles, three more came whistling in, striking the target area directly and igniting an even larger and more terrifying explosion amidst the flames.
Inside the Aircraft Carrier, Nick Fury stood before the glass, watching the distant blaze while thinking: Barton Agent, don’t let yourself get blown up by your own people so easily.
This time, however, Bai Luo was not on the same ship as Lorna; he and Lorna had boarded one of the Avengers' crafts to witness this scene unfold. In truth, Bai Luo did not want Lorna to board, but her attitude was exceptionally resolute. She was a fervent warmonger. Although the situation for mutants in this era wasn't as dire yet, her extreme mindset wasn’t quite like her father Eric's but was still very combative. For instance, she clearly stated this time: "They have come to our planet to kill us; we must fight back."
To be honest, Bai Luo was still worried about her bipolar disorder acting up.
Bai Luo scanned around inside the craft; Lorna, Tony, an anxious Banner, and Steve were all present.
This Avengers team had already reached half strength, but there weren't many who recognized them as Avengers. Banner wanted nothing more than to hide away while Steve and Tony both wanted to establish the Avengers but had some friction between them.
However, when it came to confronting the Reincarnators and Loki, their thoughts were remarkably aligned and unprecedentedly united.
After six Missiles were launched, the bombardment from the Aircraft Carrier came to an end. Everyone understood that Loki and his group could not be taken down by just six Missiles; thus, no one showed any signs of relaxation. On the contrary, as the bombardment ceased, everyone’s expressions turned serious.
On the ground, within the abandoned factory, amidst the billowing smoke and flames, a figure resembling a Daoist gradually became clearer.
This being was not entirely human; from a high vantage point, it appeared entirely silver. Its body melted under the intense heat, yet it seemed to be composed of some kind of memory-like liquid metal. No matter how high the temperature of the flames or how terrifying the explosions, they could not completely destroy it.
This was clearly a Reincarnator.
Bai Luo immediately recognized this being's abilities or what its bloodline might be.
Terminator-1000.
Every drop of liquid metal was its essence. They could work independently, yet also had the ability to recombine and cooperate with one another. Its body could restore itself at will and transform into various weapon forms. To kill this entity, one would need temperatures exceeding three thousand degrees. With no one around and no steel furnace nearby, this Reincarnator was indeed a formidable opponent.
However, Bai Luo's gaze couldn't help but shift to someone beside him.
