Chapter One Hundred and Five: Bai Luo is a Good Person
Thor was feeling somewhat dazed.
Of course, this was from Bai Luo's perspective. At this moment, Thor was indeed a bit confused, but from Thor's own point of view, the Son of Odin felt clearer than ever.
—Loki was doing something wrong.
Based on the clues provided by Bai Luo, Loki had sorted out a series of situations in his mind.
After being knocked unconscious by a mortal on this Earth with kitchen utensils, his father—Odin—fell into a long slumber known as Odin's Sleep. Following that, Loki took control. After so many years as brothers, Thor had a good understanding of his younger brother's nature. The previous incident where Asgardians slaughtered civilians on Earth could only have been orchestrated by Loki. In Thor's eyes, Bai Luo was just an Earthling who didn't understand the distinction between Loki and Asgard; he merely viewed Loki's actions as representative of all Asgardians. This misunderstanding was likely shared by many people on Earth.
Of course, all of this paled in comparison to Loki's plan for extermination; such impressions of the Nine Realms were insignificant.
It was clear that Thor knew his adopted brother quite well.
However, he seemed unaware that the Asian man before him was a time traveler who understood Loki just as well as he did.
At that moment, Bai Luo did not show any signs of this understanding. Instead, he wore a smile that conveyed both difficulty and anxiety, expressing that he, as an Earthling, was at a loss for what to do.
Thor said, "I apologize for my uninvited presence along with my hammer, but now I hope to leave here quickly. I must stop my brother. I assure you that we will not cause any trouble for Earth afterward; please rest assured."
Thor's assurance was sincere, but Bai Luo silently scoffed in his heart: it would be impossible not to bring trouble to Earth.
However, Bai Luo replied, "I understand your situation. From what I know… even if we let you go now, you would likely just fall under Loki's control again. Rather than that, it would be better for you to stay here for now. I can't guarantee anything else, but our prison can ensure your absolute safety."
Upon hearing this, Thor felt deeply moved and said, "Thank you for your kindness, but I must stop him."
Just then, Dark Alessa approached from the other side and paused at the door to the room upon hearing Thor's words. She looked puzzled; earlier, this blonde gentleman named Thor had been shouting about wanting to tear Bai Luo apart. Why had his attitude changed so quickly?
But Dark Alessa was quite perceptive and instantly realized what Bai Luo was doing. After thinking it over, she decided to remain outside and not interrupt their conversation.
Inside the room, Bai Luo straightened his expression and said, "Thor, there is an ancient saying in China that goes 'Help others to the end; send the Buddha all the way to the west.' Since you are already here, I cannot let you go out and take risks. It would be better for you to stay here for now. Your father must have had deep reasons for stripping you of your powers; he does not truly wish for you to become an ordinary mortal. What he hopes to see is your growth and change—qualities that match your identity and powers."
"I think if you can understand your father's true intentions and make a change, you will surely be able to reclaim Mjolnir and become the Son of Odin once again, Thor."
At these words, Thor nodded repeatedly.
From his eyes, it was clear that at this moment, the God of Thunder had completely let go of his prejudice and hostility towards Bai Luo. He could see that Bai Luo's words were genuinely considerate of him. From their previous conversations, it was evident that this person was merely a champion of justice on Earth. His actions were truly aimed at maintaining stability and peace in their world, which was entirely justifiable. Yet, while the other party was doing what he ought to do, Thor had been making unfounded assumptions about him. Moreover, Loki had caused the deaths of many innocent people on Earth...
Thinking of this made Thor feel even more guilty.
Especially when he considered that despite everything, the other party was still willing to ensure his safety first and advised him not to act impulsively...
Thor reached out and patted Bai Luo's shoulder in the dimly lit room—no, hospital room—and said with emotion, "Alright, I... well, there's nothing much to say. Thank you. I will definitely handle things in Asgard properly. Also, regarding the past, I hope you can put aside any grudges. I hope we can become friends. Asgard and Earth are not enemies by nature, nor is there any need for enmity over this matter."
Bai Luo nodded. Listening to Thor's somewhat excited tone, he touched his nose and thought—had he perhaps gone a bit too far with his persuasion?
But after nodding vigorously, he replied, "Make sure to teach Loki a good lesson when you get the chance."
"I will definitely discipline my brother properly."
Hearing Thor's resolute response, Bai Luo thought—Loki, if you're planning to trick me, don't blame me for being ruthless.
After exchanging a few more pleasantries with Thor, Bai Luo left the hospital room. As he walked out, he concocted a bunch of excuses for Thor to stay in his room and avoid going out as much as possible.
Of course, Bai Luo's message was quite subtle: "Thor, you are no longer our prisoner; you can move around freely here. However, my authority here is limited..."
Upon hearing this, Thor understood. He was still grateful to Bai Luo and would never want to put him in a difficult position. He quickly assured him, "Don't worry; I won't wander around..."
After addressing these matters, Bai Luo stepped out of Thor's hospital room and saw Dark Alessa waiting outside for quite some time.
Neither spoke as they walked side by side through the brightly lit corridor. After a while, Alyssa finally broke the silence with a clear voice: "Bad guy."
Bai Luo scratched his nose and said, "Well then, let's send his hammer to his hospital room."
Although Bai Luo truly wanted to set up Loki—the fickle fellow—he felt a twinge of guilt for leaving Thor so bewildered. After all, Thor was a good person; deceiving someone like him always carried an indescribable sense of guilt.
Of course, Bai Luo wasn't entirely trying to trick Thor; his words about change were indeed useful for Thor.
It was just that... he rubbed his chin, thinking it would be better to fool this good person just once and then move on to deceiving Red Skull in the future.
Alyssa said, "No one here can lift that hammer. Who can deliver it?"
Bai Luo shot her a sideways glance and replied, "You must have other ways."
Alyssa glared at him and huffed, "Why do I feel like I'm about to become your subordinate?"
Bai Luo chuckled, "Not at all. Didn't you just test my strength before?"
Alyssa stuck out her tongue, noncommittal about Bai Luo's words.
