Chapter Ninety-Nine: I've Changed My Mind
In Bai Luo's impression, the Destroyer of Asgard was quite formidable in the comics, but in the movie, it merely appeared as another character at BSS Level.
Of course, when it made its entrance, the Thor's companions who followed it were clearly its enemies.
However, now that Bai Luo had directly tied up Mr. Thor, these two groups were evidently united against a common foe.
At that moment, agents from S.H.I.E.L.D. rushed in from behind, and one of them exclaimed, "Is this... could it be that Tony Stark's armor has gone rogue?"
Bai Luo couldn't be bothered with them. He stepped aside and shouted at the top of his lungs, "Me! Me! Me!"
Amidst the chaos and fleeing civilians, this group stood out even more. With Bai Luo shouting, he immediately caught the attention of the five Asgardians nearby.
The Destroyer raised its faceplate and ceased its fiery breath, turning its head toward Bai Luo and his group.
Unfortunately, Bai Luo couldn't remember the names of those four minor characters.
But as warriors of Asgard, their brains were never quite up to par.
The bearded one asked, "Who are you? What do you mean by 'me'?"
Logan reacted faster than the bearded man. He leaned closer to Bai Luo and whispered, "Did you really kidnap one of their people?"
It wasn't that Logan doubted Bai Luo's character; rather, he recalled their first encounter when Bai Luo had kicked him off a stage... Kidnapping innocent civilians seemed like something this guy would do without a second thought.
Bai Luo replied, "I thought someone important would show up. So, Logan, you back me up while I go show these guys why flowers are so red."
Logan asked, "What do you mean by back me up? What does that even mean?"
While Logan looked utterly confused, S.H.I.E.L.D. agents were contacting Coulson to verify whether this Iron Giant was indeed Tony's creation. Meanwhile, Bai Luo charged forward once again.
He flipped his palm, and the frying pan reappeared in his hand.
Although the group of Asgardian warriors was not particularly strong, they were still far superior to Thor. With a weakened Destroyer by their side, Bai Luo remained cautious. He held the frying pan in one hand and clutched several Yellow Paper Talismans in the other as he charged forward.
To Bai Luo's surprise, as he engaged with the four Asgardian warriors in front of him, the Destroyer stood by and did nothing.
This was, of course, thanks to Loki's orders from afar in Asgard.
Loki scoffed at Bai Luo. To him, this yellow-skinned man wielding yellow paper and kitchenware while dressed casually was nothing short of a joke. Such a useless individual could never kidnap Thor, nor could he be a match for the Asgardian warriors. As for Bai Luo claiming to be the mastermind behind Thor's abduction—Loki doubted he even understood what Thor represented.
On Earth, the Asgardian warriors shared Loki's sentiments, but soon they would find themselves unable to laugh.
They quickly realized that although Bai Luo came at them with a frying pan, he hardly used it in battle. Instead, it was the seemingly light and powerless yellow paper talismans in his hands that posed a threat.
The Asgardian warriors had experienced countless battles, but this was their first encounter with such bizarre "magic" or methods.
The yellow paper talismans, resembling ghostly symbols, appeared harmless at first. However, when released from the hands of this "clumsy" Earthling, they suddenly unleashed unimaginable power. Some talismans transformed into powerful lightning orbs, while others ignited into flames or turned the ground into swamps.
Bai Luo had exchanged a high price for a book of low-level Five Elements Talisman spells from the System. Despite being basic, they were quite effective when combined.
Moreover, although these so-called Asgardians claimed to be divine beings, their combat abilities fell far short of divine standards. They were merely slightly stronger than ordinary humans and had better physical attributes. Therefore, under Bai Luo's talismans, the four Asgardian warriors were thrown into disarray. Bai Luo's strategy was simple: first bombard them with talismans to confuse them, then charge in with the frying pan and deliver a few solid blows while they were dazed.
In just a few minutes, all four Asgardian warriors—a trio of men and one woman—were knocked out cold on the ground.
At that moment, S.H.I.E.L.D. agents were just beginning to understand that this situation had nothing to do with Tony. Coulson was racing back in a military jeep from Old Bridge Town.
As for Loki… he finally grasped what was happening.
Logan behind them couldn't help but comment sarcastically: "I guess these fashion enthusiasts are thinking this might be the legendary Eastern monk sweeping the floor?"
Unfortunately, aside from Bai Luo, no one understood Wolverine's old joke.
Bai Luo stood confidently before the Destroyer. Knowing Loki was watching from Asgard, he smiled and said, "Hey, let me guess—since it's the Destroyer here, then… I suppose Loki is currently in charge of Asgard?"
At this moment, in Asgard, Loki had long set aside his previous disdain, replaced instead by vigilance and suspicion—this person before him actually knew of his existence and could accurately discern the situation in Asgard. Who on earth was this?
Recalling the earlier incident where the kidnapper openly demanded the Life Stone Tablet and the Ancient Winter Coffin from Odin's Vault... this fellow must undoubtedly be the one behind it all.
There were not many on Earth who understood Asgard so well, and given that they were in the same place, it was unlikely for two such individuals to appear.
After all, Asgard had not engaged in open dealings with Earth for many years; they had become mythological figures, with no one believing in the existence of Asgard, Odin, or Thor.
Bai Luo did not expect a response from the other party; he was well aware that the individual could hear him. Although Logan and others might see him as talking to himself, the reality was clearly different.
He smiled and said, "Odin is unlikely to concern himself with such lowly matters as kidnapping, nor would he send someone to arrogantly make demands. Doing so would only force the kidnappers into inhumane actions.
"So... your goal must be to see Thor dead?"
