Chapter 96: Speechless
Acting on impulse was one of Bai Luo's admirable traits.
He began digging from the right side of Mjolnir, pulling out a shovel from his Item Storage Talisman. Without hesitation, he started to dig downwards. After a few minutes of hard work, he had created a large pit directly beneath Mjolnir.
As Bai Luo had anticipated, although there was now a big hole beneath Mjolnir, it remained suspended above the hollowed ground, completely unmoved.
The fact that it couldn't be lifted when it landed didn't seem to relate to its weight. If it were truly that heavy, it would have sunk deep into the soft sand upon impact.
Having cleared the ground below, Bai Luo once again acted like a mechanical cat, retrieving more items from his Storage Talisman.
This time, he pulled out a door that was half his height. He laid it flat at the bottom of the pit he had dug, positioning it directly under Mjolnir. Then he took out the key that Loli Alyssa had given him and opened the door.
The key given to Bai Luo by Dark Alessa was quite useful; as long as he used it to open a door, he could reach Alyssa's location.
In other words, as long as Bai Luo held that key, he could open any door on the street or even carry a door with him and open it on the spot to arrive at the Silent Ridge Hospital maintained by Alyssa.
For someone like Bai Luo, who possessed a Storage Talisman, carrying a door was an incredibly easy task.
Once he had set up the door, he picked up the shovel again and smashed away the last bit of dirt above him. In an instant, Mjolnir fell from above and plunged headfirst into the open door. A shower of dirt cascaded down, and Bai Luo heard Alyssa's furious voice from inside: "What is all this stuff?"
Accompanying her voice was an indescribable sound from some Big-Breasted Nurse.
Without hesitation, Bai Luo decisively closed the door, brushed off some dirt, and awkwardly climbed out while carrying the large door panel.
At that moment, he suddenly heard a sound. Feeling something amiss, he turned around and saw a helicopter roaring towards him from not far away.
Bai Luo thought for a moment and pulled out about ten syringes filled with a thick green liquid from his Storage Talisman. He lined them up on the ground and squinted at the helicopter approaching from above.
The helicopter landed not far from Bai Luo, just as he had anticipated. It was Coulson who arrived, accompanied by a few others. Clearly, they had come to assess the situation first, while the main force of S.H.I.E.L.D. would arrive by tomorrow at the latest, ready to take complete control of the area.
However...
Bai Luo had expected Coulson to show up here, but Coulson clearly did not expect to find Bai Luo present.
He never imagined that the "situation" he rushed over to investigate due to the unusual spatial anomalies would be Bai Luo smiling at him from the ground.
Bai Luo smiled as he watched Coulson and his two companions approach. "You arrived just in time. I discovered something unusual. Look, there was a sandstorm just now, and a row of test tubes filled with green sludge fell down."
Coulson shone his flashlight and used the light from the nearby helicopter to get a better look. Sure enough, he saw a row of green test tubes sticking out of what looked like a sinkhole in the ground.
Then he noticed that in the center of this large pit, there were clear signs of construction—debris scattered everywhere and evidence of secondary collapses. The row of test tubes containing an unidentifiable dark green sludge was obviously...
Phil smacked his lips and muttered, "These things were clearly just placed here by you! What was originally here?"
Bai Luo remained calm and collected because he knew very well that what he had done here could not be hidden from S.H.I.E.L.D. However, as long as he didn’t reveal anything, S.H.I.E.L.D. would only ever know what had happened here, but would never uncover what had been here.
Thus, he smiled and said, "Don’t let their appearance fool you; they’re said to be powerful stimulants. One injection and you could be Usain Bolt."
Upon hearing this, Coulson frowned. "Usain Bolt... that Jamaican sprinter? What does he have to do with this situation? Or are you suggesting I should capture him for questioning?"
Bai Luo couldn't help but smirk slightly; it then occurred to him that Bolt's world record in the 100 meters was set in 2009.
Bai Luo's mouth twitched a bit.
Fortunately, Coulson didn’t take Bai Luo’s words too seriously. He asked again but seeing Bai Luo's lack of response, he shifted the topic back. "So when you talk about all these random people, does that mean these things were indeed placed here by you?"
Bai Luo chuckled three times mischievously. Before Coulson could respond, he gestured toward a car parked near the edge of the large pit created by Mjolnir. "A group of civilians was attacked. When I found them, they were already unconscious, so I brought the car over. You’d better send someone to check on them; they should just be unconscious and might be babbling nonsense due to shock and concussion. Just ask them a couple of questions and let them go."
Phil Coulson furrowed his brow, looking at Bai Luo with a disdainful expression as if he were staring at something filthy. He said, "Since someone has been attacked, you not only didn't stay at the scene to figure things out, but you drove a civilian's car all the way here. That sounds..."
Bai Luo smiled and replied, "It definitely sounds like there's something wrong. You'd better investigate thoroughly; who knows what you might uncover?"
Coulson stared at the man in front of him, feeling a wave of frustration wash over him. He had a strong urge to voice his thoughts—it's clearly your fault! And did you really steal a civilian's car?
However, Coulson was underestimating the situation—Bai Luo not only stole the car but also kidnapped a girl.
Yet, looking at Bai Luo's nonchalant demeanor, Coulson ultimately decided to keep quiet and said, "By the way, Director Nick Fury wants to see you. If you don't have anything else going on here, it would be best to head back as soon as possible—of course, if you want to cooperate with my work here, I’m also..."
"Don't worry, I'll definitely head back quickly," Bai Luo said with a serious expression.
Coulson felt an urge to strangle him right then and there. He glanced at the row of devices stuck into the ground, containing some green unknown substance, but in the end, he chose not to say anything further.
