Chapter Ninety-Four: The Kidnapping
It was Bai Luo who had taken down Thor. He had quietly approached from behind, and with a single swing of his frying pan, the God of Thunder fell to the ground.
Thor's divine power had long been stripped away by Odin. Unless he truly possessed the heart of a god, he would never be able to lift his own Mjolnir again and regain his powers.
At this moment, he was merely an ordinary man with decent physical abilities.
Bai Luo did not hold back; it was only natural for Thor to go down like that.
However, this scene left Jane and the others utterly astonished, staring wide-eyed at this unexpected newcomer.
Jane's father furrowed his brow and stared at Bai Luo for a moment before saying skeptically, "You are... that Talisman..."
Bai Luo was currently hoisting Thor onto his shoulder. Upon hearing this, he turned to smile at Jane's father and casually pulled out his S.H.I.E.L.D. badge from his pocket. "S.H.I.E.L.D. is on the case. This guy is suspected of being an extraterrestrial invader. To prevent him from repeating his lines, I took him down first. As soon as Bai Luo finished speaking, Jane Foster's father and her best friend nodded repeatedly. Her father simply wanted this drunken vagabond to disappear as quickly as possible to avoid any trouble.
Meanwhile, her best friend looked at Bai Luo with admiration and said, "Are you that Talismancer from the Easterners? Can we take a picture together? I..."
Jane frowned slightly because she couldn't see Bai Luo's badge clearly due to the lighting. As an ordinary researcher, she had never heard of S.H.I.E.L.D., but she did recognize Bai Luo.
Since the battle in New York City, the Hospital Hulk incident, and Bai Luo's appearance at the Beijing Olympics, he had become a well-known figure. Many people recognized this superhero, especially after Captain America had just returned and Iron Man Tony Stark publicly announced his identity; Bai Luo's emergence had sent the world into a frenzy over superheroes.
These tangible heroes fighting on real Earth were far more popular than those fictional characters in movies.
However...
While superheroes were indeed superheroes, the impression this particular one left on Jane seemed more like that of a sleazy character.
Bai Luo was unaware that his reputation had deteriorated to such an extent in Jane's eyes. He hoisted Thor over his shoulder and was about to make his escape when he heard the girl behind him shout, "Wait! He seems just like us, a human. Why is he considered an invading creature? Besides, I've never even heard of this S.H.I.E.L.D. you mentioned..."
Before she could finish her sentence, her friend tugged at her arm and whispered, "That's a superhero, Bai Luo. He can't be lying!"
But Bai Luo showed no signs of guilt. He stood there, carrying Thor, and squinted at Jane Foster for a long moment.
Then he picked up the frying pan once more.
In the astonished gazes of Jane, her friend, and her father, he took down all three of them with just one frying pan.
After that, Bai Luo unceremoniously tossed Jane and Thor into the car they had arrived in and drove off with a grunt, leaving Jane's unconscious father and friend on the ground.
The area was unstable, and S.H.I.E.L.D. would undoubtedly arrive promptly; Bai Luo didn't need to worry about their lives.

At that moment, he was driving back into Old Bridge Town. Like many towns in Europe and America, it was small with interconnected roads. Before arriving, Bai Luo had already scouted the area. During the drive, Thor woke up once, shouting something about Odin and making a racket. However, he didn't even know how to open the car door before Bai Luo swiftly knocked him out again with the frying pan.
He stopped at the back door of a fast-food restaurant—a common sight in America—where the back faced an alley typically used for garbage disposal and wastewater. Yet Bai Luo had already prepared for this moment. Skillfully maneuvering through the alley with Jane and Thor in tow, he pulled out the key Alyssa had given him and unlocked the door. However, he didn't fully open it; instead, he cracked it just enough to shove both Thor and Jane inside before slamming it shut behind him. Standing in the foul-smelling alley, he looked up and said aloud, "Heimdall, I know you're watching me. Please tell Odin that his son has failed his trial on Earth and has been kidnapped by me. Of course, I'm being quite humane about it—I even brought along a 'companion' to prevent Thor from being scared to death—yes, scared to death! I just locked him in a place filled with devils and horrors. Given Thor's foolish mindset and abilities no different from an ordinary person... Heh heh heh."
He chuckled mischievously and continued, "I want the Life Token and the Ancient Winter Coffin. Once I have those two items, I'll release them."
Bai Luo earnestly recited this message into thin air before getting back into his car to search for where Mjolnir had landed. However, he speculated that Odin was unlikely to compromise—most likely, he wouldn't care about this situation at all.
But Bai Luo hadn't intended for Odin to fall for his trick.
The reason Bai Luo could appear here on time was due to a mission from the System.
Just after leaving Silent Ridge, he received a task from the System with the following objective:

Odin had stripped Thor of his divine powers and cast him down to Earth, which undoubtedly placed the God of Thunder right in Bai Luo's line of fire.
He arrived early in Old Bridge Town, confirming that the events surrounding Thor had yet to unfold, and began a long wait for the opportunity to present itself. While submitting a detailed report on his journey to Silent Ridge to S.H.I.E.L.D.'s Trident Headquarters, he familiarized himself with the terrain, biding his time for the plot to develop.
Finally, fortune favored the prepared; Thor stumbled into trouble and fell right into Bai Luo's hands.
