Chapter Twenty-Nine: Do You Have Money?
The True Fire was not very powerful, but it was difficult to extinguish. It was a type of Talisman flame, and the Werewolf Reincarnator had rolled on the ground several times without being able to put out the fire on her body, which gave Bai Luo an opportunity.
In just a short moment, Bai Luo noticed that there were motorcycle sounds coming from all four directions around him. Clearly, Nick Fury had deployed people nearby who were now rushing over.
Just as the Werewolf Reincarnator managed to extinguish the flames on her body, Bai Luo had already arrived in front of her.
At this moment, the Reincarnator seemed to have finally made up her mind. She let out a howl and lunged forward directly at Bai Luo.
Her earlier escape was certainly due to her fear of Bai Luo, but it was also because she saw no need to confront either Bai Luo or S.H.I.E.L.D. Killing either one would be meaningless and would only weaken her own forces. If she did not want to be erased by the Main God and wished to leave this bizarre Marvel Universe, she had to eliminate Charles; everything else was irrelevant.
But at this moment, she had reached a dead end and could only fight desperately.
At such close range, Bai Luo could see that the Werewolf Reincarnator's bloodline was rather crude. Her fur was not shiny, and after transforming, aside from her massive physique, there were hardly any features related to her original gender or appearance.
She turned and sprang up, colliding with Bai Luo's iron-like fist.
Bai Luo staggered back three steps, while the werewolf was forced back five or six steps. She threw her head back and let out a howl that shook the air. "Who exactly are you?"
Bai Luo took another step back and smiled slightly. "What do you think I am?"
...
By the time Nick Fury arrived at the scene, the battle had already concluded.
The entire head of the werewolf fell to the ground, blood spraying everywhere, while Nick Fury watched as a faint blade of light in Bai Luo's hand transformed into a yellow talisman, ultimately disappearing from sight.
It was a one-time-use talisman, capable of manifesting into a blade-like object. Bai Luo had spent his last remaining points on it, and with this item, he had severed the Werewolf Reincarnator's head. The opponent's bloodline ability was not strong; decapitation meant death, and it promptly replenished Bai Luo with a full fifteen hundred points.
After all, this was just a D-Class.
Bai Luo had killed him but felt no sense of relief.
What if the next one was a high-level senior Reincarnator with numerous powerful exchange items?
Bai Luo turned around and saw Nick Fury gazing at the werewolf's corpse on the ground, displaying a hint of regret.
Without needing Nick Fury to give orders, agents had already gathered around to clean up the battlefield. Regardless, the body of this Werewolf Reincarnator held value for S.H.I.E.L.D.
However, Bai Luo was ready to bid farewell to Nick Fury.
Nick Fury said nothing more; he simply lit a cigarette and remarked, "If you make a choice and want to find me..."
"I'll go outside the White House and shout at the top of my lungs, 'I want to join S.H.I.E.L.D.'"
Fury exhaled a smoke ring, his lone eye narrowing slightly as he revealed a hint of amusement.
Bai Luo waved his hand dismissively. "Don't worry; if I make a decision, I'll find you right away—but do you have any money?"
Fury paused for a moment before realizing that this kid, who was barely half his height, probably had no money at all. As he pulled out his wallet, he said, "You know what? Maybe you should just come back to S.H.I.E.L.D. headquarters with me. Even though you kill without blinking an eye, I'm genuinely worried you'll starve on the streets."
Bai Luo replied, "Don't worry; if I get too hungry, I'll 'properly' utilize my powers."
As he spoke, he began to walk away into the distance.
Meanwhile, while Fury was pondering what Bai Luo meant by "proper," Bai Luo had already walked quite far, and a voice drifted back to him: "By the way, you still haven't found Steve and the Cosmic Cube, have you?"
Nick was taken aback by this remark. However, when he looked up, he saw Bai Luo waving goodbye as he walked further away.
The director of S.H.I.E.L.D. hesitated for a moment but ultimately did not chase after him. Yet, his gaze on Bai Luo's retreating figure grew sharper.
This mysterious Eastern Child was not simple.
He didn't even seem like a child.
But perhaps he wasn't a bad person.
This was the fundamental reason Nick Fury let him go.
However, soon enough, Nick Fury found himself chuckling—after all, in this world, who could be defined and distinguished purely by good or bad?
...
...
While Nick was lost in thought, Bai Luo was wandering around the streets with a handful of cash.
For some reason, he felt as if someone was watching him. Yet when he looked closely, he couldn't find anyone.
This area was on the outskirts and rather chaotic; there was even someone brazenly trying to snatch the money from this "child." But in the end—well, that guy was taken down by Bai Luo with just one hand.
Now, Bai Luo was equipped with multiple Talismans, had over fifteen hundred points saved up, and a pocket full of White Rabbit Candy. Even an ordinary Reincarnator would not stand a chance against him, let alone an average person.
However, after resolving the crisis with the Reincarnator, Bai Luo did not rest. On the contrary, the usually quiet Sadako was the first to speak up. "Bai, I want to go to Japan."
Before Bai Luo could respond, Mizumura Memeko asked in a very cute voice, "What do you want to go to Japan for?"
"I want to search for my memories and experiences. You and I are likely both from Japan; if we want to find out why we became like this, we should go there," Sadako replied. Although her memories were fragmented, her thinking was more mature than Mizumura Memeko's, and her abilities were much stronger. While it seemed she had been hiding in Bai Luo's body these past few days, she had actually been using her powers to gather information extensively. It was not difficult for her to come to such a conclusion.
Mizumura Memeko was different. Although she was also curious about her memories and experiences, she was rather carefree. While Sadako worked hard to gather information about this world, Memeko had been napping inside Bai Luo's body.
Upon hearing Sadako's words, Mizumura Memeko's voice changed subtly as she expressed some concern. "Ah, what should we do then?"
Bai Luo silently rolled his eyes in his mind: Sadako has already figured out what to do; what channel are you on? Are you just trying to be cute?
