Chapter 22: Silver Mist
Bai Luo first exchanged for an "Earthbound Speed Talisman" worth one thousand five hundred points. Its effect was similar to that of the Swift Movement Talisman, significantly enhancing human movement speed, but it was a higher-tier permanent talisman. As long as Bai Luo applied this talisman to his body and ensured it wasn't torn off or severely worn down, he would continuously benefit from its enhancement.
The talismans in the System Mall were actually divided into two categories: one-time limited-use talismans and permanently effective talismans. The former were cheaper and had a short duration, while the latter were more expensive but provided long-term support to the user.
This was akin to the difference between a temporary buff and a cheat code.
The former only provided benefits for a limited time, while the latter could grant Bai Luo superhuman abilities as long as the cheat code remained active or wasn't banned.
Although it seemed like the System Mall offered an endless supply of talismans, this was not entirely true. From levels one to five, there were numerous talismans available, with a predominance of lower-tier ones. Higher-tier talismans, particularly those of levels four and five, were relatively scarce. Moreover, the System Mall couldn't truly allow Bai Luo to achieve an "anything is possible as long as you have points" scenario—because nothing in this world was absolute; no one was invincibly powerful, and thus no one could be absolutely omnipotent.
He zipped past Logan like lightning, so fast that Logan could only stare in disbelief. Bai Luo's voice echoed back: "Logan, wait for me."
With that parting remark, Bai Luo's figure had already darted away like a flash.
His first target was the soaring Mechanical Reincarnator. The werewolf's massive size made it difficult to hide, and if this reincarnator—equipped with technology far beyond this era—truly wanted to escape, Bai Luo knew he might lose sight of him for good.
At that moment, the Mechanical Reincarnator was already ascending into the sky, its thrusters accelerating behind it, propelling its body upward like a rocket.
However, he never anticipated that an attack would come roaring from behind him.
Bai Luo utilized his incredible speed to arrive directly beneath him. Harnessing the astonishing strength granted by the high-tier Power Talisman, he yanked a car straight up from the ground and flung it into the air.
The Reincarnator heard the piercing sound of air being sliced and immediately turned pale with alarm. He urgently twisted his body mid-air to narrowly evade this sudden assault.
But what he saw was a figure shooting up from the ground like a cannonball.
That figure was Bai Luo.
He boldly spent his remaining two thousand points to acquire the Iron Body Talisman, forcibly enhancing the strength of his body. He launched himself from the ground like a projectile, and in the astonished gaze of his opponent, he transformed his body into a cannonball, crashing directly into this Reincarnator.
The Reincarnator finally lost control mid-air, his body tumbling down like a fly. He wanted to stabilize himself and continue rising, but the little brat who jumped up didn’t say a word and just threw a punch.
With that simple punch, he felt as if his brain was about to explode—this Reincarnator was certain that if the kid landed a few more hits like that, his skull would surely shatter.
Thus, he chose to descend from the high altitude, spinning wildly as he fell. He even abandoned control of his propulsion device, allowing himself to plummet while reaching into his coat with both hands to pull out two uniquely designed pistols.
One of the pistols had a highly futuristic design, entirely silver with a streamlined body, and bright blue strip lights on either side. The other pistol was completely different in style; it was an antique firearm adorned with intricate engravings that gave it an old-world charm.
These two weapons were the last resort of this mechanical Reincarnator. He was merely a D-Class Reincarnator, and the few valuable items he possessed could be counted on one hand. Aside from the cheap and ordinary weapons available at the Main God’s shop, these special weapons were worth their weight in gold.
The two guns were classified exchange items known as Silver Mist. The "Silver" represented the sci-fi pistol, which was a laser weapon capable of storing up to seven shots. Its reloading mechanism operated on a time basis; as long as there were fewer than seven shots in the gun’s energy chamber, it would automatically recharge every minute by one shot's worth of energy. The "Mist," on the other hand, was the antique firearm that held only one shot but fired a wide-ranging incendiary round. It also had an unusual reloading mechanism; once its bullet was expended, it would reload after twenty-four hours.
This Technology User Reincarnator drew his guns with lightning speed and fired the Mist at Bai Luo from such close range.
In that instant, Bai Luo felt as if the world before him had exploded.
Silver was a long-range weapon, while Mist was undoubtedly a close-combat weapon; it functioned like a shotgun—the closer it was to its target when fired, the greater its destructive power.
Bai Luo took a full blast of ammunition.
Countless fireballs erupted right in front of him. Even the Technology User Reincarnator who fired it was knocked to the ground by the explosion. Bai Luo was sent flying like a cannonball, crashing down onto the ground.
At that moment, they were already several streets away from the square where the incident had occurred. Ordinary people were present on these streets, and they had realized that something was wrong. In a panic, they were trying to evacuate, but they never expected that disaster would strike. As the two figures fell to the ground, everyone fled in terror.
However, some individuals turned their attention thoughtfully toward the televisions in nearby bars and shops, where the latest updates were being broadcast.
The host's voice was slightly agitated and incredulous.
"Kansas City has experienced a dramatic turn of events. The group of suspected Non-Earth Beings that had just slaughtered countless people in the square has been defeated by a child who appears to be no older than ten. From the current reports, the leader of these suspected Non-Earth Beings—a humanoid creature with sickly green skin—has been killed. The corrosive virus that infected the ground is causing widespread death, and two suspected Non-Earth Beings are currently fleeing. As it stands, the mysterious Eastern Child who suddenly turned the tide is pursuing these two escapees.
"Who is this child? Can he save Kansas City tonight? Is he a mutant?
"Perhaps no one knows, but I believe he will be the hero of Kansas City tonight.
"When disaster strikes, heroes truly do emerge."
