My past with Zhang Zhe is quite a long story.
Three years ago, at a banquet, Zhang Zhe was having a verbal spar with my cousin from the the Jiang Family. My cousin, unable to hold back his anger, seemed ready to throw a punch. Seeing Zhang Zhe remain silent, I couldn't help but speak up for him.
I said, "Cousin, you're an adult now; why are you bullying your younger brother?"
My cousin laughed in frustration, "Whose side are you on?"
I replied, "I'm a the Jiang Family girl, so of course I support reason over kinship."
From that moment on, Zhang Zhe looked at me with a gentler gaze.
Later on, we would occasionally run into each other at social events, and he always asked about my well-being. Our relationship grew closer over time. Until last year, on my birthday, he confessed his feelings for me. I agreed.
But… there was no further development. I was deeply troubled by this.
When my sister-in-law learned about my feelings, she smiled and said, "How about I help you out?"
My eyes lit up as I grasped her hand and said, "Thank you, sister-in-law."
She shook her head with a smile, "We're all family."

I hesitated before saying, "If possible, I would like to marry Zhang Zhe."
She paused for a moment and sighed softly, "Alright, I'll give it a try."
After she left, I felt anxious and restless. I worried that she might not succeed.
Unexpectedly, when my sister-in-law stepped in, she was worth two. Zhang Mo quickly became pregnant and was brought into the the Jiang Family. She repeatedly tried to persuade me to join her in asking our mother for permission to enter the company and participate in management. I refused each time.
I said, "Zhang Mo, who do you think is more suitable for management, you or my sister-in-law? Even Old Yellow Dog at the door can see that. I, as a the Jiang Family daughter, won't be confused." Zhang Mo's expression stiffened.
Seizing the opportunity, I added, "Instead of dragging me down with you, why don't you persuade Zhang Zhe to come and propose to me?" Zhang Mo's face turned even worse. I turned and walked away, feeling quite pleased.
I knew that Zhang Mo wouldn't dare offend me now. But I still needed to remind her that the the Jiang Family was not a place for her to act recklessly.
A few days later, while my brother was snacking on sunflower seeds, he inadvertently brought up the matter again. He scoffed, "That Zhang Zhe is really not manly at all. Warm Warm has been admiring him; it's all over the city, and he hasn't even made a move yet." Zhang Mo's expression darkened.
As soon as my brother spoke, he realized it was inappropriate. He glanced at Zhang Mo and fell silent. Zhang Mo forced a smile, feeling awkward. My brother also looked uncomfortable. I stood up and walked away.
My brother was right.
Zhang Zhe really isn't much of a man.
I've decided that I won't wait for him any longer.
If he truly liked me, he would have come by now.
But he hasn't.
Not even a phone call.
What’s the point of such a cold marriage?
I've made up my mind.
I will actively pursue my own happiness.
But before that, I need to deal with Zhang Mo and my brother's situation.
Sister-in-law later gave birth to the first son of the the Jiang Family.
Uncle came to congratulate us and casually shared some news with the family.
He said, "I’m about to be promoted to Mayor of New Town."
Everyone was very happy.
Uncle then glanced at me and said, "Nuan Nuan, you’re not a child anymore."
Sister-in-law smiled at me but didn’t say anything.
The next day, Mom called me in for a talk.
My heart skipped a beat.
Did Mom find out about me and Zhang Zhe?
Mom didn’t mention Zhang Zhe at all; she only asked, "What do you think of your sister-in-law?"
I was taken aback for a moment and replied, "She’s great."
Mom nodded, "Your sister-in-law comes from a prestigious family, is easygoing, and has given birth to the first grandson; she truly is a good sister-in-law."
I nervously watched Mom, but she wouldn’t say anything more.
She waved her hand, signaling for me to leave.
