Considering the injured behind him, Aibo turned and summoned a Time Portal towards Qin Weishan and Jiao An. "You two go first," Aibo said, gesturing towards the opened Time Portal.
Qin Weishan nodded, quickly picking up the dazed Jiao An and rushing into the Time Portal.
Lu Sha stepped down from the battle vehicle, her Battle Armor assembled. Unlike before, it now bore a manic graffiti covering her mouth, and her eyes gradually turned fierce. The Chain Spear hanging from her wrists was unlocked, its sharpness glinting as she held it ready for bloodshed. She watched as Qin Weishan carried her Sister Jiao An into the Time Portal, realizing they were injured by the internal Humans. She glared at the enemies ahead and growled, "Anyone who dares to harm my sister will pay dearly!"
"Shouldn't we come up with a strategy to deal with so many?" Xu Yicheng asked.
"What strategy? Just charge in!"
"Hey, hey!"
Xu Yicheng couldn't dissuade the mad girl. He actually wanted to mention that there was still some information he hadn't shared with Qin Weishan and Jiao An. The Madwoman had fully deployed her Fan Blade Knives, dragging her Chain Spear on the ground, creating sparks as she charged forward through a hail of bullets. Her formidable self-healing ability made her fearless as she plunged into the ranks of internal Human soldiers, leaving a trail of carnage in her wake.
"Then let's go too." Xu Yicheng exchanged glances with Aibo. Xu Yicheng soared into the sky, unleashing powerful laser beams fueled by Antimatter that swept everything in their path like a divine being descending from above, taking down soldiers hidden atop tall buildings. Aibo followed closely behind, raising an iron anchor high and smashing it down on the soldiers firing at him.
Block 03 Rooftop
Exhausted, Qin Weishan gently laid Jiao An against the water tank on the rooftop. Checking her pulse to confirm she was not in mortal danger, he let out a long sigh of relief but still kept his hand on her back. The leather on her back had been torn open in places, exposing her flesh.
Sensing Qin Weishan's touch, Jiao An slowly opened her eyes. Her hand, which had tightly gripped the gun handle, finally relaxed as she struggled to get up. Qin Weishan pressed down on her shoulder firmly. "What are you doing? Just lie still; you've been injured."
"I can still fight," Jiao An insisted, trying to stand up. "In my hazy consciousness just now, I suddenly remembered I have the Matthias sniper cannon. I can use it to clear out the heavy armored troops..."
"You've already sacrificed so much for this battle; just rest for a bit!" Seeing her stubbornness, Qin Weishan had no choice but to gently support her waist. Jiao An managed to take a few steps but ultimately collapsed due to exhaustion, falling into Qin Weishan's arms.
"This is an excellent sniping position..." Jiao An pointed at the rooftop. Following her gesture, Qin Weishan looked down and indeed saw that from this vantage point, they could capture almost any information from the main battlefield below. As they fought guerrilla warfare now, gunfire echoed throughout the city where human soldiers clashed with Internal Troops and Longxing Mercenaries.
It was nearly impossible for human heavy weapons to gain an advantage in urban warfare; tanks and armored vehicles suffered greatly in such environments while the enemy had Mechanical Beasts—agile heavy weapons at their disposal. In this light, Jiao An's super soldier weapon seemed even more useful; thus she hoped to stand up and assist humanity as a sniper.
"But you're seriously injured..."
"Who says? I can stand! Don't stop me!"
"I'm not saying you can't; just let me bandage you first!"
Qin Weishan pressed down on Jiao An's shoulders, pinning her against the water tank as they locked eyes. In that moment, an ambiguous feeling arose between them. Without saying another word, Qin Weishan retrieved bandages and hemostatic spray from his tactical pouch at his waist. He sprayed the hemostatic agent on her stab wound; since it was on her waist, he had to wrap his arms around Jiao An gently as he began to apply the bandages.
Feeling Qin Weishan's warmth pressing against her body, Jiao An closed her eyes and murmured softly, "Weishan..."
"What is it?"
"Once this battle is over, let's go home and take a look."
"Of course! After this battle ends, we'll each return home to our families and live happily on this planet without any more wars..."
"No," Jiao An placed her hand on the back of Qin Weishan's hand as he wrapped the bandage around her, gently rubbing it. "I want... to go home with you."
Qin Weishan was taken aback, looking into Jiao An's dreamy eyes. He smiled, finished wrapping the bandage, and leaned in to kiss her. They shared a soft kiss, and then Qin Weishan pulled away, caressing Jiao An's face. "Once we win this battle, I'll take you home, my little fool."
"Hey? Calling Qin Weishan, Jiao An, calling."
The communication from their earpieces shattered the intimate atmosphere. Qin Weishan quickly pressed his earpiece and stood up. "Qin Weishan here."
"Weishan, is Jiao An okay?" It was Liang Muqi's voice.
"Her condition has stabilized."
"Send me the coordinates. I'll have Wen Yue City come to take care of Jiao An." Liang Muqi was already in his Black Hawk Armor, racing through the air towards the war-torn City M. "If you still trust me."
"I have no choice but to trust you." Qin Weishan glanced back at Jiao An.
"Listen carefully. About an hour ago, Xu Yicheng and I just arrived at Song Family Courtyard. It has been flattened, but fortunately, everyone managed to hide in the Antimatter Energy storage room. Xu Yicheng retrieved the Antimatter-Powered Battle Armor, and Lu Sha drove out a war vehicle, saying they plan to support you."
"They arrived just in time. Jiao An and I are safe now. Thanks for your concern; perhaps I can take care of her alone."
"No, that's not the point." Blackhawk aimed at the ground where internal Human troops were engaged in combat and dropped two black hole bombs, instantly absorbing the enemies. The soldiers below waved at Blackhawk as he flew past.
"We saw this scene through the remaining cameras at Song Family Courtyard: several soldiers followed a woman with hinged arms. Some of them were carrying Life Crystals. After eliminating the remaining resisting servants of the Song Family, that woman said this place isn't suitable for placing Life Crystals; they need to go to the highest point in the city to maximize the crystallization ability after the Life Crystals explode."
"The highest point..." Qin Weishan stood at a high vantage point and surveyed the city. Suddenly, he remembered where that highest point should be and looked towards the northeast at two o'clock—the Technology Research and Development Company Building of the Song Family, standing 460 meters tall, was a landmark of City M.
"We must reach them before they activate the device and initiate global crystallization," Blackhawk said. "Lu Sha has already notified me to set off; Xu Yicheng and Aibo are still engaged with two teams from Divine Realm against a Heavy Infantry regiment and can't help us for now. It's just us three."
"Where did An Xiaotian and Liu Xuan go? And what about that Zombie King? On vacation?" Qin Weishan gazed at the sky where internal Human aircraft were battling against Xuan Nu space fighters; firefights and explosions erupted everywhere. One aircraft was shot down by a Xuan Nu fighter, streaking past him like a small fiery meteor.
"You think it doesn't take time to rush over from the Pacific front?" Blackhawk retorted.
Qin Weishan sighed helplessly. "Alright, I'm heading out now. I'll send you Jiao An's location; I hope Wen Yue City can take good care of her."
After cutting off the squad channel, he hurried over and bent down to pick up Jiao An but was stopped by her.
"I'm staying right here!"
"No way! The skies are a battlefield now; if you're spotted on the rooftop..."
"Foolish Qin!" Jiao An suddenly shouted angrily, grabbing Qin Weishan's battle suit tightly. "Do you believe in me or not?"
"I do believe you."
"Then leave me here! If you need to support us, hurry up and go."
Reluctantly, Qin Weishan released his grip on Jiao An's hand and stepped into the building's elevator. Once he confirmed that Qin Weishan had left, Jiao An leaned against something for support and stood up again despite the pain in her waist. She set up the Matthias sniper rifle on the rooftop, activated her holographic scope, and began surveying the battlefield as a sniper.
Block 01
"Yihan, slow down! I... I can't run anymore," Ming Juan pleaded, struggling to keep up with Ma Yihan, who was still eager to escape.
The two girls had been hiding and running for two hours on the battlefield, brushing past countless enemies and trembling in fear under bridges filled with foes. However, their situation had worsened; in their frantic attempts to evade capture, they had lost their way. Originally intending to seek refuge at the Underground Safe House in Block 02, they had somehow ended up in Block 01.
Seeing that Ming Juan was exhausted, Ma Yihan had no choice but to stop and survey their surroundings. Nearby stood a tall hotel, its dimly lit lobby empty and eerie. Despite its height making it difficult for anyone to find them, the area was filled with small shops where soldiers could easily spot them. "Let's rest in the hotel," Ma Yihan said, pulling Ming Juan toward the entrance. "I hope we can run into our troops."
Block 01 was relatively safe compared to the central battlefield, but it was not completely secure. At the end of the street, a four-man team from Longxing Mercenaries, just dropped from the sky, caught sight of Ming Juan stepping into the hotel. The Longxing Mercenaries were now scattered throughout the battlefield; exchanging glances, they immediately began pursuing the direction where the girls had hidden.
The hotel was deserted. After thinking for a moment, Ma Yihan decided to lead Ming Juan into the stairwell. As they entered, they noticed a service cart nearby with a water bucket on top and bottles of mineral water stacked below, meant for replenishing rooms. Thirsty, both girls quickly grabbed a bottle. Suddenly, Ming Juan began frantically hitting Ma Yihan. Swallowing her mouthful of water, Ma Yihan asked, "What’s wrong?"
"My Soul-Gazing Eye sees something outside," Ming Juan said in terror. "Four black... figures."
