Ye Ming was casually sipping his coffee when he suddenly coughed, surprised to see Rao Jie. Did she come to a realization? Just as Ye Ming was about to ask, he noticed Rao Jie’s expression change dramatically. The hand holding the phone froze as she stared blankly out the window.
Confused, Ye Ming stood up to look as well. Rao Jie was focused on a secluded area of the courtyard, obscured by many glass trees, but he could still make out two model-like figures. One was Wu Rong, and the other was Chang Fei.
Ye Ming felt a wave of embarrassment wash over him. Just as he was about to defend his brother, he saw Wu Rong suddenly grab Chang Fei's hand and push him against the nearby glass wall. Their figures intertwined, blocked from view above, but it was clear they were standing very close together.
The first impression this scene gave was one of a handsome, domineering, yet romantic kiss. But something felt off. Ye Ming's mind raced—was that really Wu Rong?
That was his immediate reaction. However, before he could say anything further to Rao Jie, she had already turned and left.
Rao Jie herself didn’t know where she found the courage; she felt an overwhelming urge to rush over and see what was happening. She couldn’t believe what she had seen; like Ye Ming, she thought it couldn’t possibly be Wu Rong. After all, she knew him quite well. He would feel uncomfortable even touching someone else, let alone kissing.
What she had just witnessed must have been an optical illusion. Clinging to this belief, Rao Jie ran over.
But after turning a corner, she found Chang Fei weakly leaning against the glass wall while Wu Rong walked away with a dark expression on his face. They crossed paths just then.
Rao Jie looked at the scene before her, her unease growing larger by the second. “You…”
Rao Jie was just about to speak to Wu Rong when Wu Rong, with a sullen expression, brushed past her without acknowledging her at all. Rao Jie’s expression froze in an instant, as if her heart had frozen along with it.
Without thinking twice, Rao Jie turned around and grabbed Wu Rong's hand, only to have Wu Rong shake her off forcefully. Rao Jie stood there in shock, watching helplessly as Wu Rong walked away.
She remained rooted to the spot until Chang Fei approached her, sneering coldly, "Wu Rong won't be fooled by you forever." With that, Chang Fei walked away.
Rao Jie had no idea what Chang Fei had said to Wu Rong; those details weren't her main concern. What troubled her was the closeness between Wu Rong and Chang Fei and why Wu Rong had treated her this way afterward.
Anger and grievance surged within Rao Jie, but she didn’t want to ask for clarification.
Meanwhile, Wu Rong returned to the lounge area, and Ye Ming, who had witnessed everything, momentarily doubted whether this was really Wu Rong. Seeing him still fuming with anger, Ye Ming couldn't help but say, "Bro, what's going on? You were so close to getting somewhere just now; what happened?"
"What do you mean 'what happened'? Just leave me alone!" Wu Rong snapped back, his temper flaring.
Recalling the scene he had seen on Chang Fei's phone earlier made him even angrier. He had thought Long Yong was a decent person and believed that Rao Jie would resist Long Yong's advances just as she resisted his own. But in the images he saw, the two of them looked completely at ease with each other!
He didn’t feel betrayed as Chang Fei suggested—no one was playing him or straddling two boats. They were never officially together; Rao Jie was clearly making her choice. While she could get close to anyone she wanted without it being wrong, that didn’t mean he couldn’t be angry. Even though they were in a competitive relationship, Wu Rong couldn’t shake the feeling that Rao Jie favored Long Yong.
