My name is Nan Shan, a Three tails red fox who has cultivated for six hundred years in Qingqiu.
As an Qingqiu spirit fox, we uphold noble character.
Thus, during the Heavenly Judgment that occurs every five hundred years, my aunt commanded me to descend to the mortal realm to repay a debt of gratitude.
This all stems from when I was a hundred years old. Out of curiosity, I ventured into the human world and was unfortunately captured by hunters who intended to skin me. Just when I was in dire straits, a little boy saved me. At that time, he was not much taller than I was, yet he resolutely held me in his arms and ran away, eventually releasing me into the jungle.
Before leaving, he gently patted my head and softly said, "Little fox, you must run away and never come back here."
His voice was so tender and melodious, but as five hundred years passed, that memory gradually became hazy. If it weren't for this Heavenly Judgment, I might have completely forgotten about it.
For mortals, following the natural order leads to smooth sailing; however, for our demon clan, we emphasize the cycle of cause and effect.
He planted the cause of saving me that day; now it is only right that I repay him with the fruit of my gratitude.
So now, having attained six hundred years of cultivation, I transformed into human form and stepped out of Qingqiu into the mortal realm in search of him to express my thanks.
To my surprise, just after leaving Qingqiu's territory, I was unfortunate enough to be captured by a Taoist priest.
The priest was quite handsome, dressed in snow-white robes with a long sword slung across his back. He pointed his sword at me and sternly asked, "What kind of demon are you? The demonic aura around you is so thick; you must have consumed quite a bit of human essence."
I stomped my feet in anger, hands on my hips, and retorted loudly, "What kind of eyes do you have, Taoist? I am clearly a spirit fox from Qingqiu! Our Qingqiu has always been the spirit fox under Nuwa; we do not consume the filthy essence of humans. This is not demonic aura; it is celestial energy!"
Having just transformed into human form and descended the mountain, hearing this Taoist insult our Qingqiu foxes filled me with indignation.
The Taoist seemed somewhat surprised that I, a Demon, dared to challenge him. But soon, he quickly formed hand seals and cast a Spell, instantly trapping me in a tattered bag.
"Let me out, you dead Taoist! Can you hear me?" I struggled desperately inside the bag, shouting loudly, but the Taoist paid me no mind.
Frustration filled my heart; I had just come down the mountain, and now I was facing this misfortune.
I lost track of time, unable to remember how many days had passed.
One night, the Taoist suddenly released me from the bag.
As I emerged, my hair was a tangled mess, but I immediately shouted at the Taoist, "It must have been because I was unprepared that you little sneak managed to ambush me. Otherwise, how could I possibly lose to you, Stinky Taoist? You cowardly sneak attacked me when I wasn't paying attention. If you have the guts, let's do it again..."
Before I could finish my sentence, the Stinky Taoist abruptly covered my mouth with his right hand, silencing my curses.
He seemed to sense the warmth of his palm against my lips and quickly withdrew his hand as if shocked. He glanced back at me and then pressed himself against the wall, signaling for me to be quiet.
Realizing something was off, I quickly stopped making noise and furrowed my brows as I followed his gaze. In the corner of the wall, a Cat Demon was siphoning the life force from a man.
"What is going on?" I wondered in surprise.
At that moment, the Taoist's voice echoed in my mind: "I'm sorry, little fox. I initially thought that the life force of those men in this town was being drained by you. It seems now that this Cat Demon is the one causing trouble. Why don't we work together to take it down? It could also earn you some merit for your future ascension."
"Hmph! Just because I'm a fox spirit, you suspect it's me who has been draining these men's life force? You sealed me in that Demon Capture Bag as soon as we met?" I felt quite displeased.
"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to. I hope this young lady can join me in taking down this thousand-year-old Cat Demon."
I turned to look at the Cat Demon, which had nine tails.
This was undoubtedly a powerful ancient demon; how could my few hundred years of experience as a little fox possibly contend with it? Although I aimed to eliminate evil and benefit humanity, accumulating merit for the demon clan to ascend, there was no need for me to risk my life in the process.
I immediately crossed my arms and turned away, resolutely saying, "No."
To my surprise, the Stinky Taoist suddenly pushed me out.
The Cat Demon, disturbed from its energy absorption, instantly gathered its power and charged at me.
"This is it; I'm done for. Just look at that demonic energy. I'm probably going to die."
Truly a thousand-year-old demon; just from its aura, I knew I was no match for it.
The demonic force sent me flying, crashing hard against the wall before rolling away several meters.
Just as I was about to lose consciousness and squinted my eyes, I saw a long sword piercing straight through the Cat Demon's chest.
It was the Stinky Taoist's sword.
