"Miss Liu, actually, I had no intention of meddling in your marriage. After all, it has nothing to do with me. But you're quite lucky; it's precisely because of the Corpse Refining Clan that I might take an interest in your affairs," Jiang Chen replied.
Upon hearing Jiang Chen's words, Liu Pingping realized that he wasn't drawn to her beauty; it turned out she had been overly sentimental.
"Hey, Mr. Jiang, if you have no feelings for Pingping, how could you possibly be interested in her matters at the airport? You don't think this makes you seem unique and impressive, do you?" Yang Er interjected. She believed that Jiang Chen should be enamored with her friend, the most beautiful woman in Southwest Province, rather than being concerned about the Corpse Refining Clan.
Jiang Chen was speechless; he couldn't be bothered to respond to Yang Er's assumptions. Beautiful women always tended to overthink.
"E'er, don't speak to Mr. Jiang like that. By the way, Mr. Jiang, do you have some kind of grudge against the Corpse Refining Clan? Are you planning to confront them?" Liu Pingping asked quickly.
"They owe me something," Jiang Chen stated.
"What is it?" Liu Pingping and the others were immediately intrigued, their eyes fixed on Jiang Chen with curiosity.
"A corpse," Jiang Chen replied.
"Ah?" Everyone was taken aback.
"Mr. Jiang, you're not joking, are you? What do you need a corpse for?" Liu Pingping asked in shock and confusion.
"Do I look like I'm joking?" Jiang Chen countered.
Liu Pingping and the others exchanged glances, their expressions frozen and complex. Jiang Chen's words completely shattered their worldview; it was hard to accept that he would seek a corpse from the Corpse Refining Clan.
Jiang Chen indeed wanted the body of Jiang Zhan because he understood that if Jiang Zhan's corpse were activated by the Corpse Refining Clan, it would bring disaster to Earth. However, he couldn't explain this clearly to Liu Pingping and the others, so he chose not to elaborate further.
In the hall, the atmosphere grew tense. Suddenly, Liu Xifang's phone rang. After answering it, her expression became even more complicated.
After hanging up, Liu Xifang said, "The Feng Family's wedding procession is about to arrive."
Upon hearing this, Liu Pingping's expression changed dramatically before turning somber; what was coming would eventually arrive.
"Mr. Jiang, please don't embarrass the Feng Family," Liu Xifang kindly reminded him.
"Mr. Jiang, you should avoid meeting anyone from the Feng Family and just hide away," Liu Pingping insisted as she tried to pull Jiang Chen away.
Jiang Chen couldn't be bothered to explain himself to the Liu Family again; instead, he sat back down on the sofa and waited leisurely.
Seeing that Jiang Chen wouldn't heed their advice, the Liu Family felt helpless. They were worried that he might offend the Feng Family and that any backlash would fall upon them.
After a while, the Feng Family's convoy arrived at the villa entrance.
The groom, Feng Dong, dressed in a suit and beaming with joy, was surrounded by a group of best men as they entered. The Liu Family tried to block Feng Dong and his entourage at the door to prevent Jiang Chen from encountering him. However, they were utterly unable to stop them; with Feng Dong's stature alone, he could easily break through any barrier.
After entering, Feng Dong strode into the hall.
In the hall, a young man sat on the sofa, looking quite out of place.
"Who are you? What are you doing sitting here?" Seeing the young man lounging there so casually, Feng Dong was instantly furious. He had no regard for manners and felt completely disrespected by this person who seemed to dismiss him, master Feng.
