The warmth enveloped me, and my consciousness gradually returned.
I opened my eyes to see Fei Wan's anxious face before me.
"You finally woke up!"
Her voice was filled with worry and relief, warming my heart.
"What happened?"
I struggled to sit up, my body still weak.
" Xiao Hui... it unleashed a powerful force, and then you fainted."
Fei Wan's explanation carried a hint of confusion, and my heart sank sharply.
"Where is Xiao Hui?"
I looked around; the space was empty, with no sign of Xiao Hui.
"It disappeared. After the light faded, it was gone."
Fei Wan's voice was low, and my heart felt as if it were being tightly gripped by an invisible hand.
Had Xiao Hui left me just like my parents did?
"Don't worry, it must be fine."
Fei Wan held my hand, whispering words of comfort, but the unease in my heart lingered.
"We need to get out of here," I said.
I nodded; it was too dangerous here, and Wu Mingyuan could return at any moment.
We packed our things and quickly left the factory.
On the way back to school, we carefully examined our parents' journals.
The entries mentioned an abandoned temple, which seemed to conceal the truth behind our parents' sacrifice.
We decided to investigate further.
However, we were unaware that a dangerous shadow was silently closing in on us.
Wu Mingyuan had sent someone to follow us.
By the time we reached the temple, it was surrounded by men in black, exuding a murderous aura.
"It looks like we're surrounded," Fei Wan said, her expression grave, and my heart raced in my chest.
"We have to break through."
I scanned my surroundings, searching for an escape route.
Behind the temple, there was a patch of woods.
"Run into the woods!"
I pointed towards the trees, and Fei Wan immediately understood.
We dashed towards the forest, with the men in black hot on our heels.
In the woods, we were like two frightened rabbits, desperately evading the hounds chasing us.
Just as we were about to be caught, Fei Wan suddenly stopped.
"What’s wrong?"
I asked, my heart pounding.
"I can sense Xiao Hui's presence."
She closed her eyes, carefully attuning herself to everything around us.
"It's nearby."
Fei Wan opened her eyes, a spark of excitement shining within them.
We ran towards the direction from which Xiao Hui's presence was emanating.
In an open area, Xiao Hui was surrounded by several men in black, its body covered in wounds, and my heart ached as if it were being pierced by needles.
" Xiao Hui!"
I shouted angrily and rushed forward.
The men in black clearly didn't expect our sudden appearance, and for a moment, they were thrown into disarray.
I seized the opportunity and rescued Xiao Hui.
Upon seeing me, its eyes were filled with grievance and dependence as it nuzzled against my leg, as if recounting its ordeal.
I gently stroked its head.
"Let's go!"
I picked up Xiao Hui and continued to flee with Fei Wan.
The men in black pursued us once more, like ghosts that couldn't be shaken off.
Just as we were about to escape the woods, Wu Mingyuan appeared.
He blocked our path, a cold smile on his face, resembling a venomous snake.
"You can't escape now."
His voice was cold and piercing, igniting a fierce anger within me.
I placed Xiao Hui on the ground and glared fiercely at Wu Mingyuan.
"I won't let you hurt it."
My tone was resolute, filled with determination.
Wu Mingyuan let out a cold laugh, his eyes brimming with disdain.
"Is that so?"
As soon as he finished speaking, the men in black behind him surged forward like hungry wolves.
I took a deep breath and assumed a fighting stance.
Fei Wan was also ready for battle; we stood back to back, prepared to face this brutal fight.
Suddenly, Xiao Hui let out a sharp cry, its body radiating a powerful light once again.
The brilliance enveloped everything, blinding Wu Mingyuan and the men in black.
A surge of immense power flowed into my body, and I felt invigorated.
I swung my fists, taking down the black-clad men one by one.
Wu Mingyuan looked at me in terror, stepping back with each movement.
I advanced toward him, the fire of anger in my heart burning even brighter.
I threw a punch, striking him hard in the chest.
He let out a scream and fell to the ground.
Just as I was about to end his life, the light of Xiao Hui vanished.
My strength faded along with it, leaving me feeling weak.
Seizing the opportunity, Wu Mingyuan fled, and the black-clad men retreated as well.
I watched Wu Mingyuan's escape with a heart full of resentment.
I knew this was just the beginning.
I picked up Xiao Hui and left the woods with Fei Wan.
Back at school, we began planning our next move, the flames of revenge roaring in my heart.
