"Liu Buqi, what are you doing here?"
Fei Wan's voice was soft, yet it couldn't hide her anxiety.
I was taken aback, my thoughts yanked back to reality.
The shadow of fear loomed over me once more, the screams of my parents and the roars of the beast echoed in my mind.
"Six years..." I murmured to myself.
"Six years, and I still can't escape that nightmare."
"What nightmare?" Fei Wan frowned.
I opened my mouth but didn't know how to respond.
Should I tell her I encountered an injured beast here?
Should I mention that this beast radiated a strange energy?
"Nothing," I shook my head.
"I just... remembered some unpleasant past."
Fei Wan looked at me thoughtfully, her eyes filled with concern and confusion.
I instinctively glanced at Xiao Hui in the corner.
It was covered in wounds, its damp fur clinging to its body, making it appear even more pitiful.
Its frail body trembled slightly, as if it might collapse at any moment.
I couldn't look away.
It resembled the mythical beast that had once been fiercely protected by its parents.
"What is that?" Fei Wan followed my gaze, a hint of caution in his voice.
I hesitated for a moment before deciding to be honest.
"It's an injured... mythical beast."
"Mythical beast?!" Fei Wan gasped.
"Are you crazy? That thing is too dangerous!"
"I know, but..." I bit my lip.
"I can't just leave it behind."
Xiao Hui suddenly let out a low whimper, its body trembling violently.
The golden light surrounding it grew stronger and stronger.
"Damn it!" Fei Wan muttered under his breath.
"What's wrong with it?"
I shook my head, indicating that I didn't know.
Yet, an ominous feeling began to rise within me.
Xiao Hui suddenly stood up, and the golden light erupted from its body, illuminating the entire factory.
I was startled and instinctively took a few steps back, shielding my eyes with my hand.
"Get away!" Fei Wan shouted.
In the blinding light, I vaguely saw Xiao Hui's body twisting and transforming.
Its size rapidly expanded, and its fur hardened like armor.
With a series of cracking sounds as its bones restructured, the once small figure transformed into a majestic beast.
As the light faded, Xiao Hui was nowhere to be seen.
The factory was empty, leaving only me and Fei Wan.
"Where... where did it go?" I stammered, my heart pounding like a drum.
Fei Wan shook her head, her eyes filled with confusion and unease.
"I don't know, but I feel that it will appear again."
Her tone was resolute, as if she had foreseen the future.
A chill ran through me. Could this just be the beginning?
"How can you be so sure?" I pressed her.
Fei Wan paused for a moment before slowly speaking.
"Because... I can feel that energy too."
I stared at her in astonishment, unsure of how to respond.
Her words brought back many memories that I had deliberately buried.
"You mean... you are too..." My voice trembled slightly.
Fei Wan nodded, a complex emotion flickering in her eyes.
"Yes, I am also an ability user, just like you."
This explosive revelation plunged me into deep thought.
All these years, I had not been alone after all.
Yet, at the same time, a wave of intense unease washed over me.
"So what should we do next?" I asked, my voice tinged with confusion.
Fei Wan took a deep breath, her gaze becoming resolute.
"We need to find it quickly, before it causes any damage."
I nodded, suddenly feeling the weight on my shoulders grow heavier.
This was not just about the two of us; it could potentially affect the safety of the entire city.
"Alright," I said.
"But where could it have gone?"
