What I didn't expect was that there was no furniture in the room, but the kitchen and toilet were fully equipped. I looked around symbolically and saw a picture of Guanyin on the bedroom wall. Perhaps because I was staring at it, the landlord emphasized that I was not allowed to touch it, let alone tear it off. I signed the contract and moved in that night. I went to the second-hand market and bought a folding bed and a simple wardrobe, and moved in. I slept soundly that night, but in the middle of the night, the door suddenly opened with a "bang", as if it was pushed open with great force. I was startled and confused.
Was it the wind or someone coming in? Before I could figure it out, the door slammed shut again. The first thing I did was to check if the doors and windows were closed, but I found that all the windows were closed. Because I was scared, I picked up my tools and went outside to look, but the living room was endless and there was no place for anyone to hide in the kitchen. I checked again and found that the door was also locked from the inside, so it was impossible for someone to come in. After searching for a while and finding nothing, I went back to the bedroom, but when I looked up, I found that a corner of the Guanyin statue on the wall had fallen off, blocking Guanyin's face. I didn't think too much and lay back on the bed and continued to sleep, but not long after, I felt that the surroundings suddenly became cold, and I clearly saw a woman in white walking towards me, or more accurately, floating towards me. I was very scared, but my body couldn't move at all, as if I was imprisoned. I didn't remember what happened later, and I didn't know when I fell asleep. When I woke up, it was already bright, and I felt dizzy and couldn't muster any energy. I was completely depressed that day. I told my colleague about it. He thought I was suffering from sleep paralysis and that the house I rented must be unclean. Although I was still scared, I had just paid the rent and signed the contract, and the landlord would definitely not refund it. I added another lock to the bedroom door, glued the Guanyin statue back, and then went to sleep normally. Nothing happened that night. I lived in this house for a total of 5 months before I was able to move out. During the time I lived here, I had more minor illnesses and disasters than before, and I was particularly unlucky. I was in a trance every day.

It was only later that I learned that the reason why the house was so cheap was because a couple had lived there before, but they had a big fight over the issue of the bride price. The man had an extreme personality and believed that if he couldn't get it, he couldn't let others get it. He couldn't think straight for a while, and while his girlfriend was sleeping at night, he suffocated her with a pillow, and she died where I put the bed. Later, someone else rented that house, but they would encounter strange things such as sleep paralysis at night. In desperation, the landlord put up the Guanyin statue to suppress it.
