The excavation team consists of ten people, including geologists, antiquities experts, and historians. Despite their different academic backgrounds, their common goal is to explore whether this land holds any historical heritage.
Laura is wearing protective gear designed specifically for archaeology excavation, including multi-layered pockets and waterproof fabric. This outfit is carefully designed to adapt to various climates and terrains. She wears a wide-brimmed hat that effectively shields her from the scorching sun. Her eyes peer through a pair of sun-protective sunglasses, focused and determined.
She held an Archaeological trowel and a soft animal hair brush in her hand, squatting within a designated excavation unit marked out with small wooden sticks and ropes. These markers not only delineated the area she would be working in, but also facilitated future mapping and stratigraphic analysis.
In front of her was a carefully scraped ground, with various archaeology tools neatly arranged around: long-handled shovels, sieves, measuring instruments, and her specialized high-tech equipment. This equipment featured high-resolution scanning capabilities, enabling X-ray analysis and material identification of ancient artifacts.
In stark contrast to these advanced devices is an open notebook and a fountain pen, with which she records every discovery and observation, ensuring that all information is accurately preserved according to professional archaeological methods.
Laura diligently uses an animal hair brush to gently remove dirt and small stones, as if each stroke is coaxing the ground to reveal its hidden secrets. Every movement she makes is filled with respect and care, as if she is handling a precious piece of art.
Suddenly, the edge of the shovel touched something different from the surrounding soil and stones, making a slight but distinct "clink" sound. Her heart raced, but she forced herself to calm down. With the lightest touch, she brushed away the surrounding dirt.
In that moment, Laura felt a deep sense of excitement and accomplishment. She carefully picked up the military token with the professional gloves used in archaeology, and then placed it in a collection box with cushioning material.
She opened the high-tech equipment and conducted preliminary X-ray and compositional analysis on this military token. Despite the erosion of time and some parts no longer being intact, from its material and craftsmanship, this is definitely a discovery of great historical value.
The military token is rectangular, about the size of a palm. Its texture is clearly made of a high-grade metal, and although there are signs of aging and wear, it does not affect its inherent value. One side of the military token is engraved with the Roman numeral "IX," meaning the number nine.
What excited her even more was the image of a bull carved in the center of the military token. Laura once again turned her attention to the screen, further examining the composition and age of the military token. The scanner emitted a faint blue light, slowly moving across the surface of the military token, carefully recording every detail.
"This military token may have experienced how many battles and how many soldiers' hands?" Laura couldn't help but have such a question in her mind.
There is a mysterious rune and finely drawn olive tree branch around the military token, all of which symbolize a certain elegance and power. She has an inexplicable fascination with such artifacts, as if she can smell the gunpowder of ancient battlefields and feel the heavy armor and resolute gaze of the warriors.
Laura, who has countless questions about this military token, decides to find Jerry, the leader of this archaeology excavation and a scholar who has a deep understanding of ancient Roman history.
"Jerry, can you come over for a moment? There's something I want to show you," Laura's slightly excited voice cuts through the dust and bustle of the archaeology excavation site, finding Jerry who is directing other scholars.
Jerry glanced at his watch and then walked over, raising an eyebrow. "What's up, Laura? Did you find something interesting?"
Laura carefully unwrapped the cloth wrapping in her hand, revealing an ancient military token.
