"Are you... Song Xu?"
I came out of the house by the Chu Xi and was stopped by a girl on the way. The small house by the Chu Xi has a garden, and the flowers and plants inside were all chosen by her and me together.
Other flowers are taken care of by specific people, but there are a few pots of Chu Xi's favorite jade dew succulent that she treasures dearly. Every time, it's me who comes specially to take care of them. Coming to water and tend to them on the 15th of every month seems to have become a habit. I realize this only after I've already reached the downstairs. I hesitated for a moment, but ultimately decided to come one last time.
I said a few words to the gardener, and as I was about to move a few sunflowers, I walked slowly. I was distracted for a moment and didn't hear the signal clearly, and I almost got hit by a speeding car. I was pulled away by someone just in time, and I was a little scared. As I thanked them while catching my breath, I heard the other person say they knew me. After exchanging a few greetings, I realized it was a junior from my college days.
"Song Xu!"
Hearing the sound of Chu Xi, I felt a little flustered and instinctively brushed off the unseen dirt on my body.
"Song Xu, who is she?"
She tugged at my sleeve, and for a moment I didn't understand what she was saying.
"I... I am Senior Song's..."
"I didn't ask you!"
Before the person could finish speaking, Chu Xi interrupted, "Song Xu, say something."
"Xiao Xi, don't be silly."
I apologized to the junior sister, let her leave first, and then faced Chu Xi.
"I didn't make a scene," she pulled a sunflower out of my arm, "you're still willing to water my flowers, so why don't you want me anymore?"
"With the way I am now, are you still willing to be with me?"
"Yes, I am."
She choked me.
"But I don't want to."
"Do you really... not love me anymore?"
I didn't say anything. Instead, I shook off her hand and casually threw the sunflower in my arms onto the grass by the roadside.
"Song Xu?"
The tremble in her voice seemed to be filled with disbelief.
"Don't bother me anymore, just seeing you annoys me." I don't know how I managed to say this, but as soon as the words left my mouth, I turned around and walked aimlessly along the road, feeling like a walking corpse.
Three months have passed, and I have found a new job. Compared to before, my life has undergone tremendous changes. Without Chu Xi, I always feel like there's a void in my heart, but I can still manage to get back on track.
"Is Chu Xi by your side?"
When I hear Chu Xi's name, my heart still can't help but ache a little.
"I have no relationship with her anymore," I said with no hint of emotion in my voice. "I heard about what happened at the bar before. But she's still wearing the ring you gave her, and she goes to your workplace every day to see you. You hardly even go out for drinks anymore. I don't believe for a second that you've broken up with her."
The sound of Liu Heyang is as annoying as ever, but when it comes to Chu Xi, I can't help but wish he would say more.
But why did he say... Chu Xi would come to see me?
How is that possible? I scoff at my own wishful thinking deep down.
"Just say what you have to say."
"An hour later, on the top floor of the unfinished building in the west of the city, if you don't come, Chu Xi's nude photos will be all over the internet."
"What?"
My veins bulged as I screamed into the phone, "Bastard! How dare you!"
"When a person is in a desperate situation, there's nothing they wouldn't dare to do. Song Xu, I'll be waiting for you."
Liu Heyang The call was disconnected.
I grabbed my coat, dialed a number, and hurried out the door.
