Li Lin ran through the underground space, carrying Liya on his back and with Xiao Xing by his side. "Faster! We need to go faster!" he growled through clenched teeth, the roars of beasts and Isaac's maniacal laughter echoing behind them.
As they turned a corner, they suddenly found themselves in a vast underground garage where Ember was waiting anxiously. "You finally made it!"
Gasping for breath, Li Lin replied, "The situation has changed. The raiders' experiments are even crazier than we imagined."
Ember's expression turned serious. "I've analyzed the map. There's an abandoned underground passage we can use to break through, but..."
"But what?" Liya asked weakly.
Ember gritted his teeth. "The success rate is only thirty percent."
The air froze instantly. Li Lin clenched his fists, scanning the faces of his companions before finally resting his gaze on Xiao Xing, whose bright eyes sparkled with trust.
"We have no choice," Li Lin said firmly. "Even if there's only a ten percent chance, we have to go for it."
Liya looked worriedly at Xiao Xing. "But Xiao Xing..."
Li Lin crouched down and gently stroked Xiao Xing's head. "Do you trust me, partner?" Xiao Xing let out a soft chirp and nudged his hand with its head.
"Alright, let's move!" Li Lin stood up, determination in his eyes.
They quickly dove into the abandoned underground passage, darkness swallowing everything around them except for the faint glow emanating from Xiao Xing, guiding their way forward.
Suddenly, a commotion erupted ahead. Ember whispered urgently, "Be careful, there's an ambush!" Just as he finished speaking, a line of laser sight red dots locked onto them.
"Get down!" Li Lin shouted angrily as he lunged toward Liya. Bullets rained down like hail, whizzing past their ears.
Xiao Xing let out a sharp cry, its body suddenly bursting forth with dazzling light. The raiders screamed in agony, covering their eyes.
"Now's our chance!" Ember yelled as he detonated the explosives he had planted earlier. The passage shook violently, dust swirling everywhere as the raiders' formation fell into chaos.
Li Lin grabbed Liya tightly. "Run!" The squad seized the moment to break through and sprint toward the exit.
However, heavy footsteps echoed ominously from the end of the passage. Li Lin's pupils dilated; it was the raiders' heavy mech!
"Damn it!" he gritted his teeth and cursed. "Do we have any fire starters or explosives left?"
The fire starter shook his head. "We're out."
Despair washed over Li Lin like a tidal wave as he closed his eyes, countless images flashing through his mind.
"No!" He suddenly opened his eyes, determination shining in them. "I won't give up!"
At that moment, Xiao Xing let out a long howl. Its body swelled dramatically, unleashing an unprecedented surge of power.
A blinding beam of light shot into the sky, instantly obliterating the Mecha Raiders in their path, who screamed in terror and scattered.
"Go!" Li Lin shouted, leading the squad out of the passage.
Bright sunlight pierced their eyes as fresh air filled their lungs. Li Lin took a deep breath, savoring the long-lost feeling of freedom.
However, before they could celebrate, a cold voice suddenly echoed.
"Impressive, you actually managed to escape."
Li Lin's body jolted as he slowly turned around to see Isaac standing not far away, a strange smile on his face.
"But did you really think it was over?" Isaac sneered. "The game has only just begun."
He casually tossed a small object that landed at Li Lin's feet. Li Lin looked down, and his pupils suddenly contracted.
It was a map, marked with a prominent red dot. Isaac's voice drifted through the wind.
"Do you want to know where our energy supply point is? Go there for the answer, Li Lin. I'll be waiting for you."
Before the words had fully left his lips, Isaac's figure had vanished into the dust. Li Lin clenched his fists, his gaze resolute.
"Let's go, partners," he said softly. "It's time to put an end to this."
