Li Lin felt the blue light released by Xiao Xing enveloping his entire body, an unprecedented surge of power coursing through his limbs. His eyes sparkled with a dazzling blue light, as if he could perceive the essence of the world.
Rick dropped his gun to the ground, staring blankly at the scene before him. "What... what is this?"
Taking a deep breath, Li Lin sensed the energy surging within him. "Xiao Xing, you truly are an incredible little guy."
Just then, a violent explosion echoed from afar, shaking the entire tunnel as debris rained down from above.
Alpha's expression turned serious. "The raiders have breached the base. We must evacuate immediately."
Li Lin nodded, holding Xiao Xing tightly. "Rick, you have two choices now: either fight with us or part ways here."
After a moment of hesitation, Rick picked up the gun from the ground. "I... I'll go with you."
The four of them quickly advanced through the tunnel, with Li Lin vigilantly observing their surroundings. Suddenly, he noticed that the energy fluctuations from Xiao Xing seemed to resonate with something deep within the tunnel.
"Wait," Li Lin stopped in his tracks. "Do you feel anything unusual?"
Alpha frowned. "What do you mean?"
Li Lin pointed at Xiao Xing. "Its energy fluctuations... seem to be connected to something in the depths of the base."
At that moment, another violent explosion shook the tunnel, causing large rocks to crash down from above.
"Watch out!" Li Lin instinctively unleashed a blue energy shield to block the falling debris.
Liya suddenly gasped. "Li Lin, your back!"
Only then did Li Lin feel a sharp pain in his back as a jagged stone grazed him, leaving a deep wound.
Liya hurried over to examine the injury. "It's a deep cut; it needs immediate attention."
Li Lin gritted his teeth against the pain. "There's no time to treat it now; we need to get out of here as quickly as possible."
At that moment, a cacophony of sounds echoed from the end of the tunnel, and the footsteps of the raiders grew closer.
Alpha quickly scanned the surroundings. "There's a fork in the path over there; we can break through from there."
The four swiftly turned towards another tunnel, but Li Lin suddenly stopped. "Wait, we can't just leave like this."
Liya looked at him in confusion. "What are you talking about?"
Li Lin pointed at Xiao Xing. "It has some connection to the depths of the base that we need to understand."
Alpha frowned. "Are you crazy? The raiders could catch up at any moment."
Li Lin replied firmly, "If we don't uncover this secret, we might lose crucial information. I'm willing to go alone; you all should evacuate first."
Liya shook her head resolutely. "No, I can't let you take that risk alone."
Just then, a barrage of gunfire erupted from behind them—the raiders had caught up.
Li Lin quickly made a decision. "Alpha, you take Rick and evacuate first. Liya, come with me to check out that mysterious device."
Alpha hesitated for a moment but eventually nodded. "Alright, be careful and make sure to come back alive."
Li Lin and Liya dashed down the other tunnel, heading towards the direction sensed by Xiao Xing. As they got closer to their target, the energy fluctuations from Xiao Xing intensified.
Suddenly, a concealed metal door appeared before them. Li Lin and Liya exchanged glances and cautiously pushed the door open.
The sight before them left both stunned: a massive energy device stood in the center of the room, emitting an eerie blue glow. Xiao Xing, nestled in Li Lin's arms, squirmed excitedly as if wanting to approach the device.
"What is this?" Liya asked in shock.
Li Lin carefully approached the device. "I'm not sure, but it seems to have some connection with Xiao Xing."
At that moment, a cold voice came from behind, "I never expected you to find this place."
Li Lin abruptly turned around, only to see the Raider Leader, Black Blade, blocking the only exit with a group of his subordinates. Black Blade's gaze lingered on Xiao Xing for a moment, a glint of greed flashing in his eyes.
"Hand over that beast," Black Blade said coldly, "and perhaps I'll consider sparing your lives."
Li Lin positioned himself protectively in front of Xiao Xing, watching Black Blade warily. "What do you want?"
Black Blade sneered, "Do you think this is just a simple raid? How naive. Our target has always been that beast."
Li Lin's heart sank as he finally understood the truth behind this conspiracy. Xiao Xing's existence might be more important than he had imagined.
Just at that critical moment, Xiao Xing suddenly let out a sharp cry, and a dazzling blue light erupted from its body, enveloping the entire room.
Li Lin felt a powerful energy surging within him; his eyes sparkled with blue light once again, as if he could see through all illusions.
Black Blade and his men were startled by this sudden turn of events. "Damn it! Stop it!"
But it was too late. The energy released by Xiao Xing resonated with the device in the center of the room, causing the entire base to shake violently, as if some immense power was about to awaken.
Li Lin held Xiao Xing tightly, watching the incredible scene unfold before him. He knew that a secret capable of changing the entire wasteland world was about to be revealed.
