Sun Meng left the Shanty and walked along the Charcoal Ash path towards the bungalow. The night breeze gently brushed against her, but it did nothing to dispel her stubborn thoughts. When she reached the end of the road, she realized that this path only existed in the area with Shanties; to get to the bungalow, she would have to traverse a stretch of overgrown grass. 0

Sun Meng hesitated as she looked at the bungalow lurking in the darkness. She had been afraid of the dark since childhood, as it often sparked endless imagination. Remembering the scenes from that video made her heart flutter with fear. 0

Thinking of Ziya, whose fate was uncertain, Sun Meng steeled herself and stepped into the waist-high weeds, searching for solid ground as she made her way toward the bungalow. For some reason, the closer she got, the more uneasy she felt. The ground was uneven and rocky, and her legs and arms were scratched by thorns hidden in the grass, each cut stinging painfully. 0

With all the stumbling, her shoes got stuck in the weeds. Reluctantly, Sun Meng picked them up and carried them in her hands, walking toward the bungalow in her socks. The area around the bungalow was pitch black. As she approached, she realized that this place was clearly uninhabited. The dark window frames revealed nothing of the interior; it seemed she had misjudged earlier—it was clearly an abandoned house. 0

Sun Meng glanced back at the path she had taken and then at the deep Horse Ditch beside the house, which was filled with murky, filthy water. A nauseating stench wafted from it. 0

What should I do? Turn back! Feeling the sting of her scratches, Sun Meng cursed herself a thousand times for being foolish and having a pig's brain. 0

Suddenly, from not far away came a series of frantic barks—“Woof woof… woof woof…” At first glance, this barking was not from an ordinary mutt but sounded more like that of fierce wolfhounds. 0

The thought of wolfhounds made Sun Meng tremble. She vividly remembered a nightmare from her childhood when she was chased and bitten by a wolfhound on her way to school; half of her calf had been bitten off. Fortunately, a nearby farmer who was planting rice had come to chase away the wolfhound and saved her; otherwise, she might have lost her life. 0

Recalling that terrifying childhood memory sent a shiver down Sun Meng's spine. She hurriedly ran toward the bungalow, pushed open the door with a loud bang, and quickly shut it behind her to escape inside. 0

Once inside, shutting out the wind and barking dogs, Sun Meng finally took a moment to observe her surroundings. All she could see was darkness. Instinctively reaching out to feel for something reliable, her foot brushed against what seemed like a chair. 0

The darkness was overwhelming. Sun Meng took out her phone and used its screen light to illuminate her surroundings. However, that faint glow barely penetrated the suffocating blackness that enveloped her like thick ink. 0

Perhaps due to her earlier fear, Sun Meng's hand trembled as she held her phone; even the weak light flickered. The sound of wind nearby wasn’t very loud but had an eerie quality that made it seem as if someone were crying. 0

Suddenly, a crack echoed from the ground, as if someone had stepped on a broken branch. Sun Meng quickly turned around, and the light from her phone illuminated a strange face for an instant. Just then, the screen went dark again, and Sun Meng couldn't make out the figure standing behind her before everything plunged back into darkness. 0

When Sun Meng shook her phone again, she felt as if there was something else in the room. Her heart raced, and she slowly turned the phone back to get a better look at what had just flashed by. 0

The beam of light landed on an object that resembled a ghostly face. "Ahhhhhhh!" Sun Meng screamed in terror and stumbled backward... backward, realizing that there was a ghost in the room. She froze for a moment, her mind racing with panic. Without thinking, she bolted out of the inner room. Her legs trembled like jelly, but she reacted quickly, flinging open the door and ignoring the thorns in the wild grass that scratched her skin. She sprinted into the underbrush at breakneck speed. 0

As she ran through the tall grass, she felt something closing in behind her. In her panic, she kept glancing back. Suddenly, there was a dull thud as her head collided with something hard. Dizziness washed over her; stars danced before her eyes, and her limbs felt weak... 0

Sun Meng's body collapsed into the grass, and in the darkness, she was dragged through the underbrush. The sound of rustling echoed ominously in the night as her body was pulled swiftly along... 0

Ziya cautiously slowed her pace, trying to keep her shoes from making any noise against the ground. This careful and mysterious movement reminded her of military training back at school. 0

Having never taken military training seriously, Ziya now regretted it deeply. Military training was a mandatory course for all students, yet she had never given it the attention it deserved or committed to consistent practice. 0

What surprised Ziya even more was that she would need to apply what she learned about self-defense during this very moment. She felt genuine remorse for not listening to her instructor and sticking with the training back then! Every time training came around, Ziya would find excuses to avoid it. But regret was useless now; she had to be extremely cautious—this situation could be life-threatening. The environment around her was fraught with danger as she pressed against the wall, following Zhiqing's verbal instructions to stay hidden from the corridor's lights. 0

The corridor lights had been tampered with; this was something Zhiqing had observed and analyzed carefully. The lights acted like moving cameras, capturing everything that moved within their glow and relaying it back to surveillance monitors to conceal the Demon Leader's presence. 0

Ziya moved along the wall like a babbling infant, every step filled with tension and each movement causing cold sweat to bead on her skin. Zhiqing and Ziya worked in tandem—one on the right side and one on the left—each checking rooms they had never entered before, believing they would uncover hidden secrets about the Demon Leader within those spaces. 0

The corridor lights continued to flicker as Ziya reminded herself not to stare at them. Yet those flashing lights seemed to possess an alluring power that could ensnare anyone at their most vulnerable moment. This strange force induced primal fear while simultaneously drawing one in with its sinister allure. 0

Just as Ziya pushed open the door to the fourth room, a sharp sound emitted from above as the lights flickered ominously. She turned her head to look... 0
