Sun Meng's actions and the shock she caused left Liang Chao in a state of tense imagination. Heaven knows if she had discovered the situation between him and YaYa. The house had been newly renovated; how could such illusions still appear? 0

Watching Sun Meng pick up items from the living room, Liang Chao felt guilty and suspicious, glancing around nervously, his back instinctively chilling. For a moment, he hesitated, wanting to tell Sun Meng about YaYa's death but unsure how to describe the process. Sun Meng was not in a state to handle external stimuli unless she could suppress her fear. 0

The golden sandy curtains swayed with the wind, and strands of sunlight seeped into the house, filling the living room, bedroom, and kitchen. Sun Meng picked up objects from the floor, staring blankly at the milky white tiles, lost in thought at the junction of the hallway and living room. 0

Liang Chao gently approached her, wrapping his arms around her waist. He leaned in close, his lips brushing against her ear as he whispered softly, "Darling, what's wrong?" 0

Sun Meng forcefully pushed away his affectionate gesture and turned to face Liang Chao. "What do you have with YaYa?" Her eyes widened as if she wanted to see through his secrets in an instant. 0

Liang Chao was taken aback by Sun Meng's intense reaction to his affection and stepped back in shock. Hearing her mention YaYa made him even more flustered. 0

"Sun Meng, we're getting married soon; can we not talk about that girl?" As he spoke, Liang Chao felt as if YaYa were right beside him, and he glanced around in a daze. 0

"No, YaYa is your apprentice; we must invite her to the wedding. I'll write the invitation list this afternoon," Sun Meng replied coldly. 0

Her words struck Liang Chao like a thunderclap, leaving him stunned for a moment as his mind raced to find an appropriate response. He forced a submissive expression on his face and nodded in agreement with Sun Meng's proposal. 0

Sun Meng took the bright red invitation list and immediately began writing YaYa's name on it. 0

Liang Chao found himself at a loss for what to do next and secretly resolved to call Ziya over. He hurried to the kitchen and dialed Ziya's number, speaking urgently into the phone, "Ziya, can you come over to keep Mengmeng company before the wedding?" 0

Ziya was busy sorting through items from her high school and college days—guitars, books, and a large bag filled with colorful origami cranes. These cranes were a record of emotions from her high school years; they bore witness to her first love and represented pain she was reluctant to confront. Zhou Chen's image in her memory had been replaced by Severe Cold, while now Severe Cold's shadow was gradually being replaced by Zhiqing—each time more painful than the last, each time harder to forget. 0

Ziya picked up the phone call from Liang Chao, taking a deep breath to swallow back the bitterness rising in her throat. Once she felt composed, she asked the person on the other end, “What’s wrong with Sun Meng?” 0

“She’s been acting strangely, just like before, asking about YaYa,” Liang Chao said in a hushed voice, fearful that Sun Meng might overhear him in the living room. 0

“Are you kidding? How could you mention YaYa? Isn’t that just stirring up trouble?” Ziya exclaimed, her voice rising in urgency. This caught the attention of Anqing, who was helping her tidy up, prompting a questioning look from her mother as if to ask what was going on. Ziya waved her hand dismissively and put a finger to her lips, signaling that it was nothing. Anqing shook her head and continued sorting through the pile of antiques. 0

“It wasn’t me who brought it up; it was her… Maybe we should call Zhiqing to take a look?” Liang Chao suggested, unsure how to explain Sun Meng's condition to Ziya. 0

“Zhiqing’s dad is moving houses and signing contracts; her mom needs care, so they can’t leave home. Forget it; I’ll go check on her myself!” Ziya replied impatiently before hanging up. She grabbed a broom to help clean up the dust on the floor. Turning to Anqing, she said, “Anqing, I need to go see Mengmeng later. You and Haoming should go out for lunch.” 0

“Go if you want; Mengmeng is quite pitiful—her mom passed away early, and her dad remarried, so they’ve lost touch. What a shame,” Anqing said as she folded a newspaper and continued to grumble. “There’s food at home; just heat it up and eat. What’s so good about eating out? The news said last night that they use gutter oil—you know what that is, right?” 0

“Yeah! What about it?” Ziya looked at the few strands of gray hair on Anqing’s forehead and sighed inwardly at how time ages people. Everyone experiences life’s ups and downs; it’s such a strange cycle filled with contradictions—she felt a pang of sadness for the fleeting nature of life. 0

“Knowing that and still wanting to eat out? Those black-hearted bosses are serving gutter oil at their tables; eating that could give you cancer. If you want something, just tell your mom—I can cook better than any restaurant,” Anqing scolded her daughter with concern. 0

“Of course! Who are you? Fang Ziya’s mom, the esteemed director of the Road Administration Liu Haoming’s wife. You’re a true heroine both in the kitchen and out!” Ziya set down the broom and hurried towards her bedroom to change out of her work clothes. 0

Hearing Ziya agree to come over made Liang Chao feel happy inside; a smile of relief spread across his face. He had intended to say something more but didn’t realize she had already hung up. Disappointed, he walked out of the kitchen only to find Sun Meng standing at the door. 0

“Who were you talking to? Where do you think you’re going?” Sun Meng demanded angrily, icy glints in her eyes as she blocked Liang Chao’s path, gripping the glass door tightly to prevent him from leaving. 0

“I wasn’t talking to anyone; I just wanted to call Ziya over to keep you company. Don’t overthink it. Come on, open the door.” 0

"You're lying! You're on the phone with your old flame, planning to meet up, aren't you? You promised me you wouldn't leave, but it turns out it was all a lie!" Sun Meng's words were fierce, completely disregarding Liang Chao's explanations. Her expression was almost one of hysteria. 0

Liang Chao was taken aback by her demeanor. He reached for the glass door, trying to open it while desperately explaining, "What are you talking about? Everything is fine between us. This is just nonsense; you're imagining things. Please, listen to me. Ziya will be here soon, and you can ask her." 0

"No! I won't believe you anymore!" Sun Meng screamed, her eyes blazing with fury, as if she wanted to devour Liang Chao whole. 0
