The three of them realized that entering was no longer an option, and they planned to retreat back to their respective dormitories. Since Zhiqing's home was not far away and he was a local, he intended to go home. 0

Suddenly, a cold wind swept through, accompanied by a faint sound of crying that seemed to drift in from nowhere... 0

"Did you... hear that?" Sun Meng's teeth chattered as she clutched Ziya's sleeve tightly. 0

"Is that... Wang Yuan's voice?" Ziya strained to listen carefully for the source of the sound. 0

"Run, run... quickly..." To their surprise, Zhiqing looked even more anxious than the two of them. Shining his flashlight on the eerie entrance, he urgently shouted for them to run. 0

The three of them dashed away in terror, racing past Pomelo Grove and reaching Huangguoshu... "Wait, don't leave me!" Sun Meng cried out, her legs cramping from fear. 0

"I'm right here with you; please stop crying!" Ziya said anxiously as she pulled her along. Zhiqing turned back and helped support one of Sun Meng's arms as they dragged her toward the school gate. 0

The Side Door was already locked, so the three had no choice but to climb over a shorter wall. By nightfall, all entrances to the dormitory and the back wall of the campus would be locked. Junior Class Three had evening study sessions, and typically one person was responsible for managing the keys. With the pressure of studies weighing heavily on them, they had no time for leisure; all they wanted was to lie comfortably in bed until morning. 0

This was their first time climbing over the wall. Zhiqing escorted Ziya and Sun Meng to the girls' dormitory before hurriedly making his way home alone. Along the way, he didn't forget to call Wang Yuan to scold him. The call connected, but no one answered after a long wait. "That bastard..." Zhiqing muttered under his breath as he hung up and decided to settle accounts with him tomorrow. His home was only three fields away from school, and as he hurried home, he stirred up quite a few barking dogs along the way. He imagined that Wang Yuan must have already fallen into a deep sleep by now! This kid had never been this cowardly before. 0

Ziya and Sun Meng were fuming as they washed up and climbed into bed but found it hard to sleep. "I can't believe I misjudged him; that brat looks decent enough but turns out to be such a coward." 0

"Come on! We don't even know what happened yet; let's see what he's all about tomorrow," Ziya said as she turned off the light and quietly scolded Sun Meng for her complaints. According to psychological analysis, forty percent of men are more timid than women when faced with unusual environmental changes. If it came down to physical strength, courage, intelligence, or wisdom, men generally excelled over women. 0

Ziya was worried about what terrifying incident Wang Yuan might have encountered that made him run off without a word; otherwise, how could he just disappear without saying anything? 0

"Do you think he encountered a ghost?" Sun Meng asked uneasily. 0

"Are you worried about him or what?" Ziya asked knowingly. 0

"I tell you, before I didn't know who was holding onto me while still talking to her. When I turned around and saw you and the class monitor, I realized I was holding onto..." Sun Meng felt a chill at the thought of the mix-up that had happened near the Yellow Crane Tower. 0

"That's not true! You clearly saw Zhiqing shining a flashlight; there was no one there! You must have been scared and mistook a branch for me, talking to yourself! What nonsense!" Ziya turned away, not wanting to engage in Sun Meng's rambling, deliberately pulling the blanket over her head. 0

Due to the fright, Sun Meng was repeatedly awakened from sleep by nightmares, disturbing Ziya's rest as well. It was hard to tell how many times the rooster had crowed nearby before Ziya finally drifted into a hazy dream. 0

In the bushes, under the shade of trees, who else could be walking ahead but Wang Yuan? Ziya hurried a few steps to call out to him. She opened her mouth wide and shouted, "Wang Yuan..." but he seemed not to hear her and continued walking straight ahead. 0

The surroundings were empty and quiet; the wind was still, and even the air felt stagnant. This left Ziya puzzled—was this reality or a dream? When Wang Yuan noticed Ziya had stopped moving, he didn't turn around but seemed to know anyway; he also halted, as if wanting to take Ziya somewhere. Ziya sensed something unusual about his steps; it didn’t seem like he was walking but rather floating... At this thought, she lowered her head to closely examine Wang Yuan's feet. What she saw sent a jolt of fear through her; Wang Yuan's feet were not touching the ground—they were several centimeters above it! 0

"You... are you a ghost?" Ziya turned and ran without knowing if Wang Yuan was chasing after her. She just shouted and tried to flee, but her legs felt weak, almost devoid of strength... 0

"Ziya... Ziya, did you have a nightmare?" Suddenly, Ziya heard a voice calling out beside her. Her eyes felt so sore that she couldn't open them; a bright light pierced through, making her eyes hurt. 0

"Uh... Sun Meng, could you turn off the light?" Ziya covered her eyes with her hand and spoke to Sun Meng, who stood on the floor. 0

"Okay, you scared me! I woke up from your shouting in my dreams. What were you yelling about?" Sun Meng turned off the light, yet they could still see each other in the dim room. Outside, dawn was breaking; early birds had already sung their first morning song. 0

"Uh, I had a nightmare. Do you know who I dreamed about?" Ziya struggled to sit up, pulled back the blanket, and grabbed some clothes to put on while speaking to Sun Meng. 0

"Who? You didn't dream about my mom, did you?" 0

"No, where did that come from?" Ziya deflected, not wanting to share her nightmare with Sun Meng. She got dressed and tidied her hair slightly in front of the mirror. 0

Not wanting to eat steamed buns with eggs at the cafeteria, they headed straight out onto the street. They walked while munching on a fried dough stick and sipping soy milk. The road was slightly damp; vehicles honked incessantly as they reminded passersby that this wasn’t a county area—there were more electric bikes than cars here. The small eateries were filled with smoke and bustling activity; particularly at Old Good Chen Baozi, customers streamed in continuously while the owner busily attended to them. 0

"This place is quite nice; we can stroll around in the morning and come back for games at night," Sun Meng said with a smile as she linked arms with Ziya, feeling nostalgic as she took in the scene before them. 0

"Yeah! Otherwise, just look at those boys coming out of the arcade. I bet they've been holed up in there all night, it's just a double deception." Ziya's gaze landed on a small arcade where a lethargic-looking student peeked out from behind a plastic curtain. 0

"Look at that guy, he's clearly not studying. He seems to be a senior from Second Year!" Sun Meng commented with a disapproving expression. 0

"Hey! Last night, Wang Yuan was acting strange. Let's go check the classroom," Ziya suddenly recalled her dream and wondered what it meant, eager to head to the classroom. 0

"Wait, I want to buy some lingerie first!" 0

"You silly girl, let's go." 0

As they chatted, they arrived at the entrance of a newly opened shop. A charming and voluptuous woman greeted them with a smile, "Hey there! What do you girls want to buy?" 0

"Lingerie, do you have a 30D cup?" Sun Meng shyly asked, her voice barely above a whisper. 0

"Yes, yes! What style do you like? I'll get the stock out for you to choose from. I need to set up my stall properly, and since we're opening early today, I'll give you a discount." 0

The shop owner certainly knew how to do business; her cheerful demeanor made Ziya and Sun Meng feel delighted. 0

"Wow! Look over there, isn't that Wang Yuan?" Sun Meng suddenly turned and spotted Wang Yuan's fleeting figure in the distance, shouting excitedly to Ziya. 0
