Zhiqing's face showed a hint of fear as he spoke. Whether it was due to the heat or his nervousness, beads of sweat formed on his forehead. In contrast, Ziya and the others felt no heat at all, as the Huangguoshu completely blocked out the sunlight, leaving the classroom devoid of any rays. 0

"Those chaotic soldiers deserve to die; how can they not spare even the common people?" Sun Meng said angrily. 0

"At that time, no one cared. As long as there was one person causing trouble, nobody bothered about anything else. I remember they used a mud stove back then, and there were bullet holes left from gunfire at the corners," Zhiqing said seriously, leaving Ziya stunned. 0

"Is that true?" 0

"Would I lie about this?" Zhiqing held up four fingers and bent them as if they were crawling. He gestured to Ziya and Sun Meng, and they understood immediately. Since Zhiqing dared to make such gestures, it was likely that what he said was true. 0

Wang Yuan nodded in agreement from the side, seemingly worried that the two girls might not believe him. Occasionally, other classmates entered the room, but their presence didn't hinder the conversation much. 0

"So what about the Ghost Baby?" Ziya asked, digging deeper. 0

"Ghost Baby... Well, I'll tell you about that later," Zhiqing replied. Upon hearing Ziya mention Ghost Baby, he seemed hesitant for some reason and avoided discussing it further. 0

"If it's that terrifying, why do you all come here at night? Aren't you afraid those things will show up?" Sun Meng shook her head in disbelief. 0

"I think that crazy woman's death was too strange. The angle at which she lay was diagonal to the Yellow Crane Tower. I want to go check out the Yellow Crane Tower to see if there are any clues." 0

"You seem really interested in this. Your dream isn't to become a detective, is it?" A teasing smile from Ziya caused a ripple in her dimples, charming both boys who secretly thought: What adorable dimples. 0

After the last class of the afternoon ended, the four of them tacitly agreed to eat quickly and prepare for their adventure that night. Behind the school lay a vast expanse of lush forest, and just a few meters beyond that were farmers' vegetable fields. 0

As the sky darkened, everyone dispersed. Some adventurous students took advantage of the time after school to sneak into the arcade, while others, driven by youthful hormones, sought ways to approach girls. Following the incident at Pomelo Grove, they changed their plans and headed to the woods behind the school for secret meetings, all under the teachers' noses. Even playing games was strictly forbidden at school, but who could guarantee that rebellious middle schoolers wouldn't make a few mistakes during their teenage years? 0

When Ziya and Sun Meng arrived at the agreed Side Door of the school, Zhiqing and Wang Yuan had already been waiting for a while. "Oh my gosh, what are you wearing?" Sun Meng exclaimed in surprise as she saw Zhiqing and Wang Yuan dressed entirely in black, resembling characters from a movie about night stalkers. 0

"Hahaha! This is too funny! You two aren't telling me you bought those outfits just for tonight's adventure, right?" Ziya found their choice of attire amusing. 0

"Well, we did go out and buy these black outfits after school," Zhiqing admitted with a sheepish grin. Wang Yuan stifled a laugh beside her, and when Sun Meng noticed him chuckling, she couldn't help but pinch his arm, causing him to grimace in pain. 0

The four of them stopped laughing and slipped into the Side Door while the guard was distracted. The streetlights flickered dimly, casting weak beams that seemed to wink at them. 0

No matter how bright the school's lights were, stepping into Huangguoshu felt like entering complete darkness. "Hey! I'm wearing two layers and I'm still cold. Are you guys cold?" Wang Yuan said with a shiver in his voice. 0

"Uh... yeah, are you cold, Ziya?" Sun Meng quietly asked as she walked beside Wang Yuan. 0

"Mm, it wasn't cold at the entrance, but it's chilly in here..." Ziya replied, sounding genuinely uncomfortable. 0

"It's okay; we'll be out of this shade soon," Zhiqing reassured them while feeling a chill herself. She instinctively rubbed her right arm with her left hand. 0

Yellow Crane Tower was located to the left front of Pomelo Grove, near the edge of the school grounds. This meant that the four of them would have to cross Pomelo Grove and navigate through a corridor leading to Yellow Crane Tower before reaching their destination. 0

The forest was pitch black. As they approached Pomelo Grove, Sun Meng tightly linked arms with Ziya, burying her head deep into Ziya's elbow as she hunched over while walking. The branches of Pomelo Grove loomed like a group of clawed demons, reminding them of the crazed woman who had been killed there just days before. 0

The horrifying image of her pale corpse and the bloody scene heightened Ziya's unexplainable fear. Just as they anxiously tried to get past Pomelo Grove, a sharp 'crack' echoed from within the grove. 0

"Mom! There's a ghost, run!" Sun Meng shouted loudly. Wang Yuan, who was walking in front, seemed to hear the command and sprinted ahead like a madman. Zhiqing, unable to suppress her fear, pushed Ziya forward and ran as well. When Sun Meng saw that Wang Yuan had already disappeared from sight, she immediately let go of Ziya and ran ahead. Seeing Sun Meng run off, Ziya also took off, spurred on by Zhiqing behind her. 0

Sun Meng ran for quite a while, but to her surprise, it was getting darker ahead. This area was on the edge of the school, where students were strictly forbidden to go, which explained the lack of streetlights. As she ventured further in, all she could see was darkness. 0

"Ziya, is that you?" Sun Meng felt someone approaching her and thought it must be Ziya since she had been closest to her earlier. 0

The other person remained silent. Sun Meng knew that Ziya was very cautious; if she wasn't speaking, there must be a good reason for it. With that thought in mind, Sun Meng didn't say much more and grabbed Ziya's hand, heading toward the faint outline of the Yellow Crane Tower in the darkness. 0

What felt strange to Sun Meng was how cold Ziya's hand was—so cold that it made her shiver unexpectedly. Was Ziya not wearing enough clothes? With this thought, she shrugged her shoulders casually and said, "Ziya, isn't it really cold?" 0

Still, there was no response from Ziya. Sun Meng began to feel anxious; the more tense and fearful the atmosphere became, the more she wanted to talk to relieve her psychological pressure. But Ziya's silence only made her feel frustrated. 0

"Ziya, aren't you not afraid of this stuff? Talk to me!" Sun Meng exclaimed as she vigorously shook Ziya's hand, hoping to coax her into speaking and alleviate her own fear. 0
