Severe Cold pulled two suitcases out of the terminal, with Ziya trailing behind him. "Hey, someone is calling you," he heard.
As the three of them stepped out into the station's plaza, the crowd was bustling. Some had arrived in private cars to pick up their families, while several vehicles that Ziya had mentioned earlier were parked quietly in secluded spots, waiting for customers.
Severe Cold got into his white Audi and smiled at Ziya and Sun Meng, who were getting into their own car not far away. Suddenly remembering something, he hurriedly took out his phone to save the phone number Ziya had just given him.
Sun Meng was in an excited state, her mouth full of words that were stifled by Ziya's glance. As she saw the handsome guy drive away from the parking lot, she turned to Ziya and said, "Not bad, that guy is quite interesting."
"This car..." Ziya looked at the vehicle, unfamiliar to him, and intentionally shifted the topic to it. He thought to himself that Sun Meng was only here to care for patients; surely she wouldn't buy a car like this!
"It's the old lady's. I'm her professional caregiver; the car is temporarily mine to drive," Sun Meng replied as she maneuvered the steering wheel to leave the parking lot.
Ziya watched as they drove into a quiet tree-lined path. On either side were luxurious villa-style homes with cream-colored roofs and European architectural frames. This was a one-lane road with few pedestrians in sight. Sunlight filtered through the trees, casting fragmented beams onto the pavement.
"It's so quiet here," Ziya remarked. He enjoyed the silence; it allowed for contemplation and focus. Sun Meng turned the steering wheel around a corner where a traffic light stood, and a couple of pedestrians slowly crossed at the crosswalk.
"I don't like quiet; it makes me feel depressed, which is why I thought about moving you here to keep me company."
"Didn't you tell me there was some swamp around here? This... this clearly looks like a bustling street; how could there be a swamp?" Ziya asked, puzzled as he looked out at the streets and shops.
"Hehe! I learned it from you—setting up some suspense to lure you here," Sun Meng laughed heartily. Just thinking about how she had tricked Ziya into coming from City A to D City with just a few words made her giddy with joy. If they weren't in the car, she might have jumped up in excitement.
"You... I am simply speechless, this can be a joke..." Ziya huffed, deliberately turning her head away to feign anger, refusing to acknowledge her.
Sun Meng saw the green light replace the red and had no time to retort Ziya. She could only start the car and drive away from the crosswalk, replying, "Are you angry or happy? It seems you should thank me; otherwise, how could you have met such a handsome guy?"
Sun Meng's words suddenly reminded Ziya of Severe Cold. His smile and demeanor seemed to be right in front of her. Glancing at the pocket notebook he had given her, she couldn't help but blush slightly and silently flipped through its pages.
Sun Meng drove the car to the entrance marked with a sign for Green Country Villa. Two men in uniforms stood at the gate, handing over a card from the Guard Room. The car slowly entered the villa area and stopped in front of Villa 213. Sun Meng activated the remote control to open the garage door.
Once the car stopped, Ziya and Sun Meng retrieved their luggage from the trunk together. They exited the garage and turned into a narrow alley leading to the villa's main door. The living room was empty, and Sun Meng directly led Ziya upstairs. As they walked up a curved staircase under dim lighting, Ziya struggled to adjust after coming in from the bright outdoors and nearly stumbled on the stairs.
"Careful!" Sun Meng called out as she swiftly caught Ziya, lowering her voice to remind her.
Ziya forced a smile, feeling at a loss for words, and could only follow closely behind Sun Meng, nervously watching her step to avoid falling again. Since entering this house, Ziya felt an inexplicable chill that made her uncomfortable. She thought it might be because she was underdressed but didn’t dwell on it as they made their way to the second floor.
Upon reaching the second floor, they were greeted by an expansive view. This was a suite-style villa with furnishings and decorations of mid-to-high quality. A large wall-mounted LCD TV and an enormous sofa that could double as a bed filled the room.
"What do you think? Not bad, right? Come on, I'll show you your bedroom," Sun Meng said casually, treating Ziya like a guest in her own home. Ziya smiled, knowing that Sun Meng was enjoying herself in this moment of hospitality; she decided to let her revel in it for now.
Sun Meng led Ziya into a small, neatly arranged bedroom that had everything one could need. The light white sheer curtains fluttered gently in the breeze by the window. Against one wall stood an exquisite dressing table adorned with a kumquat tree overflowing with oranges. Next to the entrance was a milky-white wardrobe without mirror surfaces. Ziya felt a surge of joy; it seemed this room was designed just as she would have imagined.
Sun Meng appeared to have meticulously prepared everything for Ziya. "Are you satisfied?" she asked, noticing Ziya's delight as she playfully raised her doll-like face and smiled.
Ziya emotionally set down her suitcase and embraced Sun Meng before stepping into the bedroom with outstretched arms, closing her eyes as she exclaimed loudly, "I'm satisfied! So satisfied!" When she opened her eyes again, Sun Meng had already disappeared from the doorway; she must have gone off to attend to other matters. Not thinking much of it, Ziya walked over to the dressing table and sat on a small round stool, leaving five fingerprints on its mirror surface as she reached out.
Looking at the marbled Mirror Surface, Ziya smiled sincerely. She could finally complete the theme that Severe Cold had given her here. With that thought, she leaned closer to the Mirror Surface and exhaled warm breath onto it.
As Ziya gazed at her blurred reflection in the Mirror Surface, she smiled softly... Wait a minute... that face wasn't hers. She was startled to see that the person in the Mirror Surface had no chin...
